Abstract

One of the potential herbs that can be used as a medicine in dentistry is young papaya seed (Carica papaya L.). Papaya seed contains active component as antibacterial such as flavonoid, alkaloid, triterpenoid, and tanin that can inhibits gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Objective: The purpose of this research is to examine the effectivity of Young Papaya seed (Carica papaya L.) at inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mitis. Material and Method: This research uses the experimental laboratory. Inhibition test using the dilution method with young papaya seed extract as the test material.The concentration of the young papaya seed extract in this research is 0,5%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. Determination of the KHM result can views of turbidity from test tube, after that subculture to the blood agar dish to see the KBM result. Result: The result shows that at 0,5% concentrate the average value is 1000±0. At 1% concentrate the average value is 927,5±5,260. Concentrate 2% the average value is 452,75±10,813. Concentrate 3% the average value is 213,75±2,986. At 4% concentrare the average value is 0±0. Conclusion: At 1%, concentrate is the KHM inhibiting and 4% concentrate is the KBM inhibiting. Young papaya seed extract is effective at inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mitis.

Abstract

The suitability of metal-ceramic fixed partial denture with the adjacent teeth is something that must be concidered in prosthodontics. To produce a good color match there are 3 factors : the color determination factor in the clinic, the communication between the operator and the laboratory, and the color adjustment factor in the laboratory. Many studies have been done but there are still many colors of metal-ceramic fixed partial dentures that do not match the adjacent teeth. The main purpose of this study to find out the result of color matching of metal-ceramic fixed partial denture to adjacent teeth in patient at RSGM Prima Mean. This research is a descriptive observational with cross- sectional design. The results showed that of the 50 patients who used metal- ceramic fixed partial denture in RSGM Prima Medan there were 13 patients (26%) who had the colors that match adjacent teeth and 37 patients (74%) who had colors that did not match the adjacent teeth. The conclusion of this study was that of 37 patients (100%) who had the colors of metal-ceramic fixed partial denture did not match with adjacent teeth, 26 patients (70.3%) errors occurred during color determination in the clinic, 7 patients (18.9%) errors in communication between the operator and the laboratory, and there were errors when determining color in the laboratory as many as 4 patients (10.8%).

Abstract

AbstrakPenyakit gigi dan mulut yang umum terjadi yaitu karies dan periodontitis,  di dukung oleh WHO pada tahun 2016 yang menyatakan prevalensi karies sebesar 60 hingga 90%. Di sisi lain, RISKESDAS 2018 menunjukkan angka prevalensi periodontitis yang tinggi di Indonesia sebesar 74,1 %. Minyak kelapa murni (VCO) termasuk bahan dasar alami yangzzdapatzzdigunakanzzuntukzzmenghambatzzpertumbuhanzzbakteri. Tujuan dari penelitianzzini adalah untukzzmengetahui efektivitas VCO dengan metode fermentasi dalamzzmenghambat pertumbuhanz bakterizzStreptococcuszzmutans dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Jeniszzpenelitianzzinizzadalah eksperimentalz klinis denganzzdesain postzztest onlyzzcontrolzzgroup. Metode uji dengan disk diffusion (Tes Kirby-Bauer) untuk melihat efektivitas antibakteri. UjizzstatistikzzmenggunakanzzonezzwayzzANOVA  menghasilkan  p nilai  = 0,004 (p < 0,05) yang berarti signifkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa VCO metode fermentasi dominan memiliki kandungan asam laurat (43,87% . VCO dengan metode fermentasi memiliki daya hambatzzterhadap bakterizzStreptococcus mutanszzdan Pseudomonaszzaeruginosa. Uji Post-Hoc Bonferroni menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas ekstrak VCO dengan metode fermentasi lebih besar menghambat bakteri Streptococcus mutans dibandingkan dengan bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Kata Kunci  : Virgin Coconut Oil, Streptococcus mutans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Abstract

Nanoparticles size can make easier for drugs to enter and react quickly to the body.In this study, nanoparticles Carica papaya L. leaf were used and combined withchitosan 1%. The aim of this study was to measure the effectiveness of thecombination of nanoparticles from Carica papaya L. leaf and chitosan 1% againstfibroblasts in the tooth socket of Wistar rats. Carica papaya L. leaf extract wasmade by maceration method and converted into a concentration of 25%, 50%, 75%and 100%, then made into nanoparticles using the nanoemulsion method. Chitosan1% was made using Na-TPP solvent using the ionic gelation method with a ratio of2:1 and after that it was mixed with nanoparticles of Carica papaya L. leaf thenmade into a gel preparation. The ANOVA statistical test shows a significant numberof p <0.05, so it can be ignored that the increase in the number of fibroblast cellsproduced by the nano gel extract is 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, its 138, 173, 177.4and 328. Thus, the combination of 100% Carica papaya L. leaf nanoparticle extractand 1% nanocitosan was the most effective in increasing fibroblast cells on Wistarrat tooth socket.

Abstract

AbstrakStaphylococcus aureus merupakan bakteri patogen penyebab infeksi oral, seperti: gingivitis, abses dentoalveolar, periodontitis, infeksi endodontik, bahkan karies gigi. Buah naga merah (Hylocereus polyrhizus) dan bit merah (Beta vulgaris L.) memiliki potensi menghambat S. aureus. Tujuan riset ialah membuktikan kandungan fitokimia ekstrak kulit naga merah dan bit merah secara kualitatif serta mengevaluasi perbandingan uji daya hambat dari kedua ekstrak tersebut terhadap S. aureus. Desain riset berupa eksperimental laboratoris dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap faktorial. Tes antibakteri dilakukan dengan metode difusi sumuran. Bahan penelitian yang digunakan berupa ekstrak kulit naga merah dan bit merah 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100%. Data diolah dengan program SPSS 25.0. Analisis distribusi data yang normal memakai tes Shapiro-Wilk dan diteruskan memakai tes homogenitas ANOVA dua arah dan uji T-test untuk menguji signifikansi perbandingan kedua ekstrak. Hasil skrining fitokimia ekstrak kulit naga merah memperlihatkan keberadaan flavonoid, alkaloid dalam jumlah besar. Sedangkan ekstrak kulit bit merah menunjukkan komponen fenolik dan terpenoid berlimpah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya efektivitas antibakteri ekstrak kulit naga merah dan bit merah terhadap bakteri S. aureus. Efektivitas antibakteri kedua ekstrak bertambah seiring dengan pertambahan konsentrasi dari 25% sampai 100%. Analisa statistik data menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kedua ekstrak, dimana ekstrak kulit buah naga merah ampuh menghambat S. aureus dibanding kulit bit merah.Kata Kunci : Antibakteri, Staphylococcus aureus, Hylocereus polyrhizus, Beta vulgaris L.
