Because each student is unique, the diversity in their ways of learning and speed of learning needs to be considered to help them achieve the best process and outcome. As experts propose differentiated instruction as the method for reaching out to the students’ uniqueness, the present article will elaborate the definition, characteristics, and syntax of differentiated learning in English for Foreign Language context, in order to highlight the strength and weakness of differentiated instruction as proven by previous studies. The present study employed George’s (2008) model of library research, in which the information to support the argument of this article were all derived from secondary sources. As the main argument, the present study adopted the concept of differentiated instruction from Tomlinson (2014), supported with research findings about its implementation taken from articles published in reputable international journal and nationally accredited journals. The study revealed that by its definition and characteristics, differentiated instruction could offer strong benefits for EFL students. However, because the model of instruction needs strong commitment from the school and the teachers since it requires the teachers to adopt several strategies and media meet the different learning styles of the students, which in turn, consumes more time and energy. Thus, for EFL classroom to be benefitted by differentiated instructions, the school and the teachers needs to be fully committed to the committed to its concept, syntax, and its requirements.

The aim of this research is to analyze the use of deixis in Donald Trump’s speech. The descriptive qualitative method was used in analyzing the data found in this research. The collected data were analysed by observing how the deixis was used in sentences. In analyzing the data, Levinson’s (1983) theory about different usages of deixis was applied. Based on Levinson's theory of deixis usages, deixis can be used through a gestural, symbolic, and non-deictic way. This research found three ways of deixis usages in Donald Trump’s speech, namely gestural, symbolic, and non-deictic use. Symbolic way of deixis usage was the most frequent occurrence, that is 82 times. This finding was followed by the non-deictic usage which occurred 6 times, and gestural usage that occurred 3 times. By investigating the usage of deixis, this study is expected to give an understanding that in delivering a speech, deixis can be used in different ways to support the content meant to be shared by the speaker as well as to make effective message delivery.

The ubiquitous use of digital technology brings the inevitability of online learning and its varying degree of teacher-student interactions, both in synchronous and asynchronous online learning modes. This present study reviews the strength and weaknesses of the two online learning modes to propose the use of blended online learning as the combination that harvests the strengths of asynchronous and synchronous modes of online learning with the opportunity to cover each other's weaknesses. The recent study employed Aveyard's literature review model as a method for gaining a comprehensive understanding of a specific topic using data and arguments from previous studies. Thirty-six articles published in reputable international journals or accredited national journals published in 2015-2020 were used. This review revealed that blended online learning combines the strengths of synchronous and synchronous learning in terms of authentic learning activities, flexibility, access, interaction, development of critical thinking, comprehension, and mastery, and student-centered nature of the learning. However, it still retains challenges in terms of network and connection issues from both online learning modes. This finding implies that blended learning can be the middle-ground to facilitate online learning with benefits from both synchronous and asynchronous online modes by minimizing the students’ exposure to the weaknesses from the two modes.

Social Networking Services (SNS) has become part of English learning, providing educators and students with free service and wide usage applicable to synchronous and asynchronous instruction. This study intended to critically review previous studies on the use of Telegram as one of the SNS platforms for enhancing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Following George’s (2008) Literature Reviews model, 20 manuscripts were reviewed. The selection was taken from reputable International Journals indexed by Scopus quartile 1, 2, and 3, published between 2016-2020. It was revealed that Telegram is argued to have positively affect the students' four language skills in learning English. Telegram is claimed to benefit the students in terms of vocabulary, reading comprehension, content, and organization in writing, grammar, language style, pronunciation, and listening comprehension. Experts highlighted the relaxed and informal nature of Telegram as SNS to be one of the main factors that contributed positively to students' reduced anxiety and raised motivation in learning. Reflecting on those positive effects of Telegram on students' scholastics progress, the present study implies that Telegram may be an alternative for online learning and extensive learning of English.

Code mixing is a sociolinguistic phenomenon that deals with bilingual speakers' ability to use language features of two languages in one sentence or utterance. This research investigated the type of code-mixing used by an Indonesian celebgram and explored reasons for using code-mixing in Instagram captions of an Indonesian celebgram. The data for this study were collected from Instagram captions posted by an Indonesian celebgram @keanuagl from February 2020 to September 2020. The data were analyzed by using Muysken’s theory of type of code-mixing. The reasons for using code-mixing in Instagram captions were analyzed using Hoffman's theory which covers seven reasons. The findings showed that insertion was the most frequent type of code-mixing used by @keanuagl. It was followed by congruent lexicalization, and the minor type used was alternation. It was found that the percentage of insertion was 68.96%, alternation was 10.34%, and congruent lexicalization was 20.68%. For the reason of using code-mixing, it was found that there were only three reasons that motivated the use of code-mixing by @keanuagl in his Instagram captions. Those reasons were to talk about a particular topic, show empathy or solidarity, and intend to clarify the speech content for the interlocutor.

With the advancement of technology, a newly adopted form of literary work was found, known as a movie game. It is one of the game genres that resembles real movies that provide choices to the players who can actively determine the story, ending, and characters' action. In literary work, a character is one of the intrinsic elements that can be interestingly analyzed from the psychological perspective, including Ego Defense Mechanisms. This study focuses on how the protagonist in a movie game entitled The Walking Dead: Michonne faced her anxiety through her ego defense mechanisms. It aims to identify the types of ego defense mechanisms and how they can help the protagonist cope with her anxiety. The discussion was based on psychoanalysis theory, namely Ego Defense Mechanisms proposed by Sigmund Freud. This study elaborated the description of the protagonist's actions when she faced anxiety through a qualitative method. The analysis revealed that the protagonist adopted the four types of Ego Defense Mechanisms: repression, sublimation, rationalization, and aggression. It was found that aggression was the most frequently adopted mechanism, followed by sublimation, rationalization, and the least was repression. This finding indicated that the protagonist chose aggression to release resentment or dissatisfaction, especially when facing objects or other characters that create anxiety or frustration. It implies that the persistence of aggression, sublimation, rationalization, and repression could reflect the presence of continual threats in the environment from which people should survive.
