Abstract

The education 4.0 phenomenon is getting stronger day by day which makes the technology integration in ELT stands in a spotlight. For this reason, this paper aims to show and to describe some techniques or teaching procedures taken from the documented research articles; and to offer some suggestions for educators in Indonesia to integrate technology in their classrooms. This paper is done as a response to the increase need to integrate technology in teaching learning process, specifically, in English language teaching. This is a qualitative research in nature through searching, taking, reading, analyzing and concluding the results from the documented researches regarding to the topic. An empirical-based research was a focus for this research; thus, there are 11 researches in total within the year 2016-2020. This paper is hoped to be able to present, to describe, and to inspire scholars, researchers, teachers, and even decision-makers to apply more teaching learning process which tends to the education 4.0 atmospheres.

Abstract

AbstractTechnology plays an important role in teaching and learning process. The use of technology in the classroom helps practitioners to improve the effectiveness of learning. Concerning with these facts, it is necessary to have specific guidelines regarding the implementation of technology in the classroom to optimize the benefits of the technology. This study aims to explain the notion of technology integration and its use in the classroom. It provides multimedia technology-based teaching framework contains activities that can be used by teachers or lecturers to be applied in the classroom. This study also explains some of the literature from previous researchs on the use of multimedia technology which has the role of improving students English language skills. Hopefully, this research can be useful for educators to integrate multimedia technology in the classroom. Keywords: multimedia technology, technology integration, language teaching. AbstrakTeknologi telah memainkan peran penting dalam proses belajar mengajar. Pemanfaatan teknologi di dalam maupun di luar kelas telah membantu para praktisi pendidikan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran. Berangkat dari fakta tersebut maka perlu adanya panduan khusus mengenai penerapan teknologi di dalam kelas guna mengoptimalkan manfaat dari teknologi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan memaparkan pengertian integrasi teknologi beserta pemanfaatannya di dalam kelas. Dilengkapi pula dengan framework pengajaran berbasis teknologi multimedia yang berisikan aktivitas yang dapat digunakan para guru atau dosen untuk diterapkan di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini juga menjelaskan tentang beberapa literatur dari penelititan sebelumnya mengenai penggunaan teknologi multimedia yang telah berperan meningkatkan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris peserta didik. Harapannya, penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi untuk para pendidik dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi multimedia di dalam kelas.  Kata kunci: teknologi multimedia, integrasi teknologi, pengajaran bahasa.

Abstract

Writing anxiety has been considered a significant hindrance for most Indonesian EFL students. With a growing number of available literatures on this issue, this paper aims to grasp the trends and deliver some implications to the national and local context. The available researches are the ones that have been published from 2017 to 2021. The subjects in those researches are university students majoring in English department. This review is one of the steps in pre-research on students’ anxiety in research courses and it has been done by using scoping study method. Therefore, taken from the thirteen collected literature, the trends have been summed up into 1. Types and levels of writing anxiety; 2. Factors or causes of writing anxiety; 3. Strategies to reduce writing anxiety; 4. Implications. The findings show that cognitive anxiety, linguistic difficulties the dominant in the trends of types and factors of students writing anxiety. In respect to the level, the findings indicate that students have moderate to high anxiety levels while metacognitive and affective as the dominant strategies used by students. Thus, in general, the findings have strengthened the concept of writing anxiety as an obstacle in students’ writing skills. Overall, some other significant variables such as personality traits, teaching techniques, awareness, and affective factors should be taken in future studies, and practices in teaching writing.
