Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of problem-based learning on students’ beliefs about physics and learning physics. The research design is quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design with samples were senior high school students grade XI at SMAN 1 Jambi City. The research used the Colorado Learning Atttudes About Science Survey (CLASS). Through data analysis using ANCOVA Test can be seen that there was no significant result effect of problem-based learning on students’ beliefs about physics and learning physics. The study’s finding indicates that students’ beliefs about characteristic and obtaining knowledge are difficult to change. Nonetheless, the use of various learning models that focus on the formation of the model building on the physics world through problem solving that are contextual and real, as well as providing opportunities for students to actively engage in problem solving can help students develop the belief that they have about the physics from novice-like belief into expert-like belief.Penelitian ini bertujuan menginvestigasi pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap belief siswa tentang fisika dan pembelajaran fisika. Desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen non-equivalent control group design dengan sampel siswa kelas XI Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN) 1 Kota Jambi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner the Colorado Learning Attitudes About Science Survey (CLASS). Hasil uji Ancova terlihat bahwa tidak ada pengaruh signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap belief siswa tentang fisika dan pembelajaran fisika. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa belief siswa tentang karakteristik dan cara memperoleh suatu pengetahuan sulit untuk diubah. Meskipun demikian, penggunaan berbagai model pembelajaran yang berfokus pada pada pembentukan model (model-building) dari dunia fisika melalui pemecahan masalah-masalah yang bersifat kontekstual dan nyata, serta memberikan kesempatan siswa untuk aktif terlibat dalam pemecahan masalah dapat membantu siswa mengembangkan belief yang mereka miliki tentang fisika dari belief sebagai seorang pemula (novice-like belief) menjadi belief sebagai seorang ahli (expert-like belief).

Abstract

The student's self-regulation and motivation are essential for students to study. Especially with 21st-century learning students are required to be more active in learning than teachers. This Mixed Methods research aimed to determine the influence between the students' self-regulation with the motivation of students learning. The sample size was 534 students from Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Jambi city, Indonesia determined by total sampling technique. Data were then analyzed with the SPSS 21 application to find descriptive statistics as well as inferential statistics using simple regression and for comparison using the independent sample T-Test. The results of this research are dominant in both self-regulation and student motivation in learning, which is strengthened by the relationship and influence between self-regulation and the motivation of students in learning. It is seen from the value of sig = 0.019 and has a contribution of 70.3%. According to the results, it is recommended that students need to be given the opportunity to conduct learning directly and teachers must perform innovative learning.

Abstract

An attitude is a form of one's perception of an object that is described with expressions of like or not. The purpose of the study was to describe the attitudes of students towards the three indicators of the attitude of the junior high school in Batanghari. The research method uses quantitative survey research. The instrument used was a questionnaire that focused on three indicators consisting of 18 statements and also interviews. The sample in this study was 280 students in Batanghari. The results of research on three attitude indicators which became the dominant focus of research in the good category. The Social Implications of the Science show a good category with a percentage of 57.9%. The pleasure of science learning is well categorized with a percentage of 45.4%. The attitude towards the science investigation is categorized sufficiently with the percentage category of 41.1%. From the research that has been carried out, it can be seen that the attitude of students in junior high school is categorized as good, because the three indicators examined show good categories.

Abstract

Abstract:The students' attitude that occurs during the learning process is essential in directing human behavior. It shows the individual likes or dislikes a particular item. Students' attitudes in science subjects can be seen from how students respond to science subjects. This study aimed to determine how the students' attitude of SMAN 8 Jambi City towards Physics subjects. This research used quantitative research with a survey research design. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire with 5 points on the Likert scale. This research involved 174 students of SMAN 8 Kota Jambi. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistics. The indicator used in this study was the attitude towards investigations in Physics. The analysis results obtained on indicator towards physics investigation was good with 64.4%.Abstrak:Sikap siswa yang terjadi selama proses pembelajaran sangat penting dalam mengarahkan perilaku manusia. Ini menunjukkan individu suka atau tidak suka item tertentu. Sikap siswa pada mata pelajaran IPA dapat dilihat dari bagaimana siswa merespon mata pelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana sikap siswa SMAN 8 Kota Jambi terhadap mata pelajaran Fisika. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian survei. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket dengan 5 butir skala likert. Penelitian ini melibatkan 174 siswa SMAN 8 Kota Jambi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Indikator yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah sikap terhadap investigasi Fisika. Hasil analisis yang diperoleh indikator terhadap investigasi fisika adalah baik dengan 64,4%.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze HOTS-based science learning in terms of students' critical thinking skills. This research was conducted at SMPN 22 Jambi City using a mixed research method with explanatory design analysis. Two instruments were made in this research: the description test questions as an instrument for quantitative approach and interviews for qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of 58 of 13-14 years old students selected using quota sampling. The tested topic was the lens refraction which consisted of 10 questions. Five indicators were tested; namely, the ability to provide basic explanation, basic support, interference, advanced clarification, and strategy and tactics. After analyzing students' answers, the average score for providing basic explanation was 3.31, building basic supports was 3.59, inferencing was 3.26, providing advanced explanation was 3.88, and utilizing strategies and tactics was 3.41. Students’ HOTS was high with the average scores in the 40-60 interval. Therefore, students’ critical thinking skills were sufficient, which affected students’ HOTS in science learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media animasi berkarakter islami terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Ilmu pengetahuan bumi dan antariksa. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experimental dengan desain penelitian ini adalah the posstest only design with nonequivalent group. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester V Tadris Fisika UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. Sampel diambil dengan teknik sampling jenuh, dikarenakan semester V hanya berjumlah berjumlah dua kelas. Instrumen yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini berupa tes soal objektif. Analisi data menggunakan teknik uji ttest. Dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh nilai - ttabel ≤ thitung ≤ + ttabel yaitu 2,10 ≤ 6,87 ≥ + 2,10, maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima dengan taraf signifikansi α = 0,05, maka dapat dinyatkan terdapat pengaruh yang lebih baik hasil belajar mahasiswa menggunakan media animasi berkarakter islami dibanding dengan media animasi tanpa karakter islami. Hasil penelitian dilanjutkan uji koreslasi (Uji phi (Φ)), dimana dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh nilai rtabel ≤ rhitung dengan taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 yaitu 0,304 ≤ 0,0,782 maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa media animasi berkarakter islami memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap hasi belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study involved two different schools, namely SMP 17 Batanghari Regency with a sample obtained by 140 students and SMP 3 Muaro Jambi with a sample of 145 students. The students’ attitudes were noticed in several indicators, namely the social implications of science, the adoption of science attitudes and the enjoyment of learning science. As the result, from the three indicators, the attitude of the SMP 3 Muaro Jambi students were dominantly in good category, whereas those of the students in Batanghari District were dominantly in quite good category. In conclusion, there were  differences between the two school students’ attitude toward natural science which was reinforced by the results of t tests that have been done.
