Abstract

Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) is a natural form of the auxin hormone found in plant roots and can stimulate plant growth. IAA functions to regulate physiological processes and stimulate plant growth such as cell lengthening and enlargement. Bacillus sp. including Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) whose role is to increase the germination rate of red chili seeds (Capsicum annuum L.). This study aims to determine the ability of Bacillus sp. against the length of the root sprouts of red chili seeds (Capsicum annuum L.). This research was conducted in in August until November 2019 at the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Padang. The method used is descriptive and quantitative experiments. The results obtained showed that the isolate Bacillus sp. able to produce IAA and administration of isolates Bacillus sp. significant effect on root length of the red chili sprouts. Keywords : Indole Acetic Acid (IAA), Bacillus sp.

Abstract

Coleus scutellarioides is Labiatae. It have much varieties based on the leave shapes and colors. In the identification is not enough based on morpho-logical organ characters, but it can also based on the pollen morphology. The purpose of this study to determine the pollen morphology of seven varieties of Coleus scutellarioides. The research was conducted in the laboratory of Botany Department of Biology, State University of Padang, in April-May 2012. Seven varieties of Coleus used came from Padang Panjang and Lintau Buo. Pollen taken from bloomed flowers and it made be slides used acetolisis methods and 1% safranin staining method. Data were analyzed descriptively included pollen unit, polarity, symmetrically, size, shape, aperture, and the shape of pollen surface. The seven Coleus pollen varieties have similirity of the type of monad pollen unit, polarity isopolar type, radial symmetry, type colpate with 6 aperture located in the equatorial (Stephano), and reticulate surface-shaped pollen. Prolate spheroid shapes found in var. Eleanor, subprolate forms in var. Batique Fetish, var. Fack, var. Apricot, var. Burgundy Giant, var. Eleanor, and var. Flambe. Whereas prolate shapes found in var. Batique Fetish, var. Fack, and var. Va Va Boom. Pollen morphology of seven varieties of Coleus scutellarioides have different shape and the author have found 3 shape of pollen as the prolate spheroidal, subprolate and prolate.Key words: pollen, Coleus scutellarioides, identification

Abstract

Pollen is the male genitalia of plants. The pollen morphology can vary within a species and between species, so that it can be used as an identification tool. It also has contribution to other disciplines such as Paleobotany, Paleoecology, Palynology, Aeropalinologi, Medical and determination of  honey quality. This study aims to reveal the pollen morphology of some species of Solanum. The Solanum which was studied were Solanum melongena var. serpentinum (purple and white fruit), Solanum melongena var. esculentum (purple and green fruit), Solanum tuberosum, Solanum torvum and Solanum ferox. The design of research is a descriptive study. The method used was asetolisis with 1% safranin staining in 70% alcohol. The characters pollen morphology observed were: units, polarity, symmetry, size, shape, or form surface ornamentation, number and type of aperture. The results showed the unit of single pollen (monads), with isopolar polarity, radial symmetry and size medium. The length of polar axis (P) ranged from 20 to 32.5, while the length of the equatorial diameter (E) ranged from 20 to 37.7, so the form of Solanum pollen can be classified into classes; Oblate, Suboblate and Oblate spheroidal. Aperture found was 3-4 aperture with the aperture found pore located at the equatorial type. In conclusion, several species of Solanum pollen have similarity in terms of units, polarity, symmetry, size and difference in terms of form and quantity of aperture.Key words: pollen, solanum, identification

Abstract

The use of medicinal plant media is done to overcome Diabetes Mellitus which is expected to prevent complications, lower blood sugar and repair damaged cells in the body. Public knowledge about the use of medicinal plants has become a cultural heritage in Indonesia to date, such as in Nagari Manggopoh. This research was conducted in Nagari Manggopoh, Lubuk Basung Subdistrict, Agam Regency in December 2019 until January 2020. The method used is descriptive survey approach. The results found that in Nagari Manggopoh found 9 species of medicinal plants used to treat diabetes, which came from 8 families. The most commonly found plants are from the Asteraceae family of 2 species. Of the 9 species of 5 species have been cultivated in the homes of residents, and 3 species grow wild in the yard and in the forest.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the two stay two stray learning model based on a scientific approach to the competence of class XI students at SMAN 3 Pariaman. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with a randomized control-group posttest only design. The research population was all class XI MIPA students at SMAN 3 Pariaman in the 2022/2023 academic year. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique, so that class XI MIPA 1 (experimental class) and class XI MIPA 3 (control class) were selected. Data analysis techniques using normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing. Testing the hypothesis in the domain of knowledge uses the t test while testing the hypothesis in the domain of attitudes and skills using the Mann Whitney test. The results of the study found that the two stay two stray learning model based on a scientific approach had an effect on the competence in the realm of knowledge, attitudes and skills of class XI students at SMAN 3 Pariaman
