Abstract

The objective of this research was to discover the process used in solving a superitem test which consisted of 4 stages according to the SOLO (Structure of Learning Outcomes) Taxonomy, namely unistuctural, multistructural, relational, and extended abstract, and reviewed using the cognitive impulsive and reflective style. The research was qualitative research. The main instrument of the research was the researcher himself guided by a superitem test, an impulsive-reflective cognitive test namely MFFT (Matching Familiar Figure Test), and a valid interview guideline. The subject of this research was the students of class X1 at SMA Negeri 1 Makale Tana Toraja consisting of four students in which 2 subjects were with cognitive impulsive style and 2 subjects with cognitive reflective style. The data was collected by giving a superitem test which was verified with an interview. The results of the research show that: (a) the first subject’s impulsive and reflective style showed the tendency of problem solving at an abstract level which was expanded in the question of one variable linear equation and in the question of two variable linear equation, (b) the second subject’s impulsive cognitive style in two variable linear equation problem solving showed the tendency of unistuctural and relational thinking only, (c) the second subject’s cognitive reflective style showed the tendency of problem solving in relational level, (d) the subject’s impulsive and reflective cognitive style showed the tendency of the same problem solving in the level unistructural, multistructural, relational, and abstract in the question of one variable linear equation, and different in the abstract level in the question of two variable linear equation.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui profil pemecahan masalah dengan melihat dan mengungkap proses berpikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan tes superitem yang terdiri atas 4 tingkatan menurut Taksonomi SOLO (Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes), yaitu: unistruktural, multistruktural, relasional, dan abstrak yang diperluas ditinjau dari gaya kognitif impulsif dan reflektif. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Instrumen utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri yang dipandu oleh tes superitem, tes gaya kognitif impulsif-reflektif, yaitu: MFFT (Matching Familiar Figure Test), dan pedoman wawancara yang valid. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X1 SMA Negeri 1 Makale Tana Toraja yang terdiri dari 4 subjek yang mana 2 subjek gaya kognitif impulsif dan 2 subjek gaya kognitif reflektif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pemberian tes superitem dan verifikasi dengan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (a) Subjek pertama gaya kognitif impulsif (GKI) maupun reflektif (GKR) menunjukkan kecenderungan pemecahan masalah pada tingkat abstrak yang diperluas pada soal persamaan linear satu variabel dan soal persamaan linear dua variabel, (b) Subjek kedua gaya kognitif impulsif pada pemecahan masalah persamaan linear dua variabel menunjukkan kecenderungan berpikir unistruktural dan relasional saja, (c) Subjek kedua gaya kognitif reflektif (GKR) menunjukkan kecenderungan pemecahan masalah pada tingkat relasional, (d) Subjek gaya kognitif impulsif maupun reflektif menunjukkan kecenderungan pemecahan masalah yang sama pada tingkat unistruktural, multistruktural, relasional dan abstrak pada soal persamaan linear satu variabel, dan berbeda pada tingkat abstrak pada soal persamaan linear dua variabel.

Abstract

Guidance and assistance in learning are necessary for every child, whether it is for the students who have attended school or not. Most of the parents who live in the Bonang area can not fulfill this activity. Parents who have not be able to accompany their children in learning after school are caused several factors, namely cognitive inability of parents, the busyness of parents in work, and the inability of parents economically to send their children to learning center, and some are even do not trust some learning center. Mathematics education students are prepared in the field of school mathematics teaching and learning expertise. For them, this activity is a valuable opportunity to gain teaching experience, as well as learning to implement the theories that have been learned, both in terms of pedagogy and mathematics. The purpose of this community is as a place to synchronize students’ need to implement their learning practices with the needs of schoolchildren around Bonang. The activity is in the form of assistance at one of the residents’ houses in Bonang. The benefits of this assistance activity are felt by all parties, schoolchildren as learning participants receive learning guidance in terms of cognitive and character, parents who are assisted and feel happy to see children's development in education, and the tutors can directly learn to implement knowledge and practice teaching.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Bimbingan dan pendampingan belajar diperlukan oleh setiap anak, baik yang bersekolah maupun yang tidak bersekolah. Kegiatan tersebut belum dapat dipenuhi oleh sebagian besar orang tua yang berdomisili di daerah Bonang. Orang tua yang belum dapat mendampingi anak-anaknya dalam belajar sepulang sekolah disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor yaitu ketidakmampuan orang tua secara kognitif, kesibukan orang tua dalam bekerja dan ketidakmampuan orang tua secara ekonomi untuk mengikutsertakan anaknya di dalam bimbingan belajar yang bersifat komersial, bahkan ada yang kurang percaya pada bimbingan belajar tertentu. Mahasiswa pendidikan matematika dipersiapkan pada bidang keahlian belajar mengajar matematika sekolah. Bagi mahasiswa, kegiatan tersebut merupakan kesempatan yang berharga untuk mendapatkan pengalaman mengajar, sekaligus belajar untuk mengimplementasikan teori yang sudah dipelajari, baik dari segi pedagogy maupun keilmuan matematika. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah sebagai wadah untuk mensinkronisasikan kebutuhan mahasiswa untuk mengimplementasikan praktik pembelajaran mereka dengan kebutuhan anak sekolah di sekitar Bonang. Adapun kegiatan bimbingan belajar tersebut diselenggarakan di rumah salah satu warga di Bonang. Manfaat kegiatan bimbingan belajar ini dirasakan oleh semua pihak, anak-anak sekolah sebagai peserta belajar mendapatkan bimbingan belajar dari segi koginitif dan karakter, orangtua yang terbantukan dan merasa bahagia melihat perkembangan anak dalam pendidikan dan mahasiswa pendidikan matematika yang menjadi tutor dapat secara langsung belajar mengimplementasikan ilmu dan praktek mengajarnya.

Abstract

The achievement of the graduates profile which is the goal of Mathematics Education majors Teachers College UPH is to prepare teacher candidates who have the character, calling, and competence also the graduates can role as a Mathematics teacher know the concept of knowledge. However, in the achievement of the graduates profile has not been satisfactory, because results of learning are low in some mathematics courses, especially in Calculus II course. Based on the problem, major Teachers College do a structured academic activity that is response learning. The research method used is control group posttest only design. The sample of the research are the students of Mathematics Education major that take the Calculus II course in the academic year 2015/2016 as the control group and who take the Calculus II course in the academic year 2016/2017 as the experimental group. The improvement of this reponse learning result is seen from t-test analysis, obtained the decision of hypothesis test is exist significant difference between the control class and the experimental class. Abstract

Communication is a representation of God's nature in humans who are created in His image -- Imago Dei -- and therefore, part of the nature of teachers and students. One form of communication in learning is interpersonal communication. Interpersonal communication helps teachers and students learn and carry out learning, and can fosters students' interest in learning mathematics. Based on the authors’ observations and reflections when teaching at school X, interpersonal communication in learning mathematics was present, but students were still noisy, sleeping, and did not listen to the teacher which resulted in a lack of understanding of the basic mathematical concepts. Based on this, this paper aims to analyze interpersonal communication between teachers and students in learning mathematics. The research methods is a literature review. The results of the analysis show that interpersonal communication fosters students' interest in learning mathematics. The problems that occur are due to a lack of self-confidence, a lack of recognition of students, and less attention to important factors in interpersonal communication. To overcome these three factors, it is necessary to build students’ self-confidence by fostering a positive perception of students' abilities and building a good community with teachers and the existing support system.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Komunikasi merupakan representasi natur Allah dalam diri manusia sebagai Imago Dei. Oleh karena itu, komunikasi merupakan natur dari guru dan siswa. Salah satu jenis komunikasi yang tepat dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah komunikasi interpersonal. Komunikasi interpersonal membantu guru dan siswa dalam belajar dan menjalankan pembelajaran, misalnya, menumbuhkan minat siswa dalam belajar matematika. Hasil observasi dan refleksi mengajar penulis di sekolah X menunjukkan terjadinya komunikasi interpersonal pada pembelajaran matematika, namun siswa masih ribut, tidur, dan kurang mendengarkan guru dalam pembelajaran yang mengakibatkan pemahaman akan konsep dasar matematika  kurang. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk menganalisis komunikasi interpersonal antara guru dan siswa di dalam pembelajaran matematika. Metode penelitian ini adalah kajian literatur. Hasil analisis menunjukkan komunikasi interpersonal menumbuhkan minat belajar siswa terhadap matematika. Hal ini disebabkan karena kurangnya kepercayaan diri, kurangnya pengenalan akan siswa dan kurang memperhatikan faktor-faktor penting dalam komunikasi interpersonal. Untuk mengatasi ketiga faktor tersebut, maka siswa perlu dibangun rasa percaya diri, dengan cara menumbuhkan persepsi positif terhadap kemampuan diri dan membangun komunitas yang baik dengan guru dan support system yang ada.

Abstract

The problem-solving ability between reflective and impulsive subjects from several studies shows that reflective subjects are always superior than impulsive subjects. The purpose of this study was to identificate and to describe students' problem-solving abilities with impulsive cognitive style in solving superitem test problems and their characteristics. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection techniques used were the MFFT test, the superitem test, and interviews. Based on the results of the superitem test, it shows that the two impulsive subjects have differences in achieving the level of problem-solving ability thinking. Impulsive-01 subjects can reach all thinking levels based on SOLO taxonomy while impulsive-02 subjects can only solve problems at the unistructural level. Although the research shows that the impulsive-01 subject has the characteristics of being fast, less accurate, less thorough, and seeming rushed in solving problems, the subject can finish up to the extended abstract level. The impulsive-02 is able to connect by making assumptions in solving the problem, it's just that the inability to solve this problem due to not understand the problem.

Abstract

SIGMA tutoring is conducted in a church, namely the HKBP Binong Permai Tangerang. Because of the pandemic of COVID-19 in 2021, parents of church congregations have complaints about learning difficulties experienced by their children while online learning. The problem arises because the material studied by their children is quite difficult for their parents to guide. A solution is needed to overcome these problems, namely through Sigma tutoring. Sigma tutoring is implemented online by providing individual guidance for students. Online tutoring is being implemented currently according to government recommendations, it is prohibited to conduct face-to-face meetings between individuals. Even though by online learning, Sigma tutoring has a positive impact, namely that students/tutees feel helped by their learning difficulties, and tutors who are students can further hone their teaching skills through this Sigma tutoring. BAHASA INDONESIA ABASTRACT: Bimbingan belajar SIGMA dilaksanakan di sebuah gereja yakni HKBP Binong Permai Tangerang. Akibat Pandemi akibat COVID-19 pada tahun 2021 ini, orang tua dari jemaat gereja memiliki keluhan atas kesulitan belajar yang dialami anak-anaknya saat belajar online. Permasalahan muncul karena materi yang dipelajari oleh anak-anaknya cukup sulit untuk  dibimbing oleh orang tua mereka. Dibutuhkan solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, yakni melalui bimbingan belajar Sigma. Bimbingan belajar Sigma adalah bimbingan belajar yang dilaksanakan secara online, dengan memberikan bimbingan per individu untuk peserta didik. Bimbingan belajar secara online sedang marak dilaksanakan karena saat ini sesuai anjuran pemerintah melarang untuk melakukan pertemuan  tatap muka antar personal. Meskipun  dilakukan secara online, bimbingan belajar Sigma memberikan dampak positif yakni peserta didik/tutee merasa terbantu kesulitan belajarnya serta Tutor yang adalah mahasiswa dapat semakin mengasah kemampuan mengajarnya melalui bimbingan belajar Sigma ini.

Abstract

The measure of the center is an essential topic in statistics. Pre-service mathematics teachers must have the ability to select and use measures of center. The inability to use and select appropriate center measures indicates a low understanding of center measures. Meanwhile, research on the ability to use and select the center's appropriate measures is very limited. This study explores the sources of error for pre-service mathematics teachers in using and selecting the appropriate measures of center. This study involved 177 pre-service mathematics teachers. This research is a qualitative study using the interpretive paradigm. Data were collected using a test containing two problems and clinical interviews. Data were analyzed qualitatively using grouping participant responses based on ways of thinking and ways of understanding to use and select center measures. The results showed that pre-service mathematics teachers could not select an appropriate measure of centers because they were too focused on measures of centers while ignoring the variance. In order to be able to select an appropriate measure of centers because variance must be considered simultaneously. The implication of this study results is the need for a learning approach that introduces concurrent measures of centers with data variance.

Abstract

The low standart of living in scavenger area in Rawacana is affect children education in their family. Most of them are only get a modest education and even do not have the opportunity to get an education and drop out. Bu Honey and family have a desire to increase the standart of living of this community through education for local children. He has set up study huts in the scavenger area to help children get the informal education. Seeing the number of children who need to be educated in that place, so that they need the educators who are committed to teach in that place. Therefore, cooperation with Mathematics Education, FIP TC UPH facilitated by her husband as UPH lecturer Mr. Dylmoon through Community Service acrivity. The Mathematics Education Study Program provides educators as a tutor. They will help to teach the children in that study lodge every week. The purpose of this activity is to help children in their homework, to help understand the difficult lessons, to help children in installing a striving attitude through study hard and to reach out the children who do not get formal education in school so that they can experience the same education as those who attend school.

Abstract

In learning Mathematics, conceptual understanding is a primary competency that the students must acquire, because through understanding the concept the students would understand what is being learned and are able to apply them thus they can pursue toward the next materials. However, in the reality of a learning process, the students have not yet understood the concept correctly. Therefore, the researcher tried to implement the peer tutoring method. Thus this research is aimed to know that the implementation of peer tutoring method can improve the conceptual understanding on multiple multiplication of the grade III B students in SDN Inpres Harapan. The research method used in this research was Classroom Action Research methodology (CAR) of Kemmis and Taggart spiral model. This research was conducted upon the students of grade III B in SDN Inpres Harapan on August 2017 until October 2017 within three cycles. Instruments used in this research were teacher mentor observation sheet, teacher mentor and peer teacher interview sheet, students’ questionnaire, as well as students’ comprehension test sheet. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the implementation of peer tutoring method can improve the conceptual understanding on multiple multiplication of the grade III B students in SDN Inpres Harapan.
