Abstract

This study aims to discuss the importance of High Order Thinking Skills in relation to solve mathematical problem solving. The method used is to describe the learning of mathematics related to problem solving using high-level thinking skills based on the results of a supportive reference study. Problem solving is a high-level mental process and requires a more complex process of thinking. Problem solving is a non-routine problem, meaning that the problem cannot be solved directly. This problem requires higher thinking skills in solving them. High Order Thinking Skills in Bloom Taxonomy in the cognitive domain consist of six levels: remembering, understanding, understanding, applying, analyzing, analyzing and evaluating (create). With high-level thinking skills a person will be able to solve problem solving problems properly. Given the importance of high-level thinking skills, these skills must be possessed by each student in answering mathematical problem solving. Keywords: High order thinking skills, problem solving questions

Abstract

Mathematical communication of students is the ability of students to communicate both orally and in writing in the process of learning mathematics. The ability of students' mathematical communication can increase if there is a change in learning one of them through application  of Realistic Mathematics learning with STAD Type Cooperative Setting. This type of research is a classroom action research. Data analysis is done qualitatively and quantitatively to the ability of oral and written communication of students. Based on the results of analysis on the cycle I and II students' communication skills in cycle I and cycle II has increased. Student's oral communication ability in cycle I got the average score of 9.17 with the category of "Good Enough" and on cycle II increased with category "Very Good" and obtained average score 12.62. The students' writing communication skills also improved. In the first and second cycles of students' writing communication skills increased with the category of "Very Good" and obtained score 63.76 and in cycle II increased with the category "Very Good" and obtained an average score of 82.18. Based on these things then this learning can be used as an alternative in learning mathematics to improve the ability of oral and written communication of students.Key words: PMR, STAD, communication skill

Abstract

The ability to think critically is a thinking skill used to systematically investigate one's thinking process in using evidence and logic to the thinking process. This capability can be developed through the application of open ended problems. This type of research is qualitative. The research approach used is case study. Analysis of research data using the method of observation, test, and interview. In addition, validity and reliability tests were conducted on the instruments used. Based on the results of the validation level analysis for all aspects of 0.9 with high interpretation. The level of reliability of the test questions reached a high level with a coefficient of 0.92. The critical thinking ability of junior high school students in solving the problem of open ended problem math on the material of social arithmetic is still low reaching 50%. While the result of critical thinking ability analysis on each indicator is ability to give simple explanation 27%, build basic skill 24%, conclusion 18% make further explanation 10% and strategy and tactics reach 21%. Based on the above, there needs to be an alternative solution in improving students' critical thinking skills through the application of open ended problem in every learning mathematics. Keywords: Critical thinking ability,  open ended problem

Abstract

The ability to crittical thinking skills can develop through the application of learning that gives students opportunities in developing critical thinking skills. One of them through the problems applied in learning Problem-based learning (PBL). This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study aims to determine the learning process of PBL and the level of students' critical thinking ability to know the application of Problem-based learning (PBL) learning model. Based on the results of the analysis of the application of PBL runs well and smoothly. The presentation of students' critical thinking ability increases from cycle 1 to cycle 2 which provides basic explanation of 25% increase, kemambuan, basic skill building skills increased 25% and concluding ability increased by 8%.Keywords: Critical Thinking Skills, Problem Based Learning (PBL) Learning

Abstract

Learning outcomes are one of the benchmarks of successful learning activities. This study aims to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes in studying Fractional Numbers with the application of Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) learning model. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The study was designed using 2 cycles in each cycle consisting of 4 stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Based on result of analysis, student activity at cycle 1 73.54% and cycle II equal to 86,35%. While the learning outcomes obtained average score 67 on cycle 1 and cycle 2 reached score 84. It proves that the activities and student learning outcomes can be increased by applying the learning model RME. For certain subjects, the RME learning model is used to avoid saturation in learning activities. Keywords: Realistics Mathematic Education (RME), Learning Outcomes

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is the ability of students to understand facts related to mathematics which can be expressed again in easily understood languages. The problem examined in this study is research on improving mathematical understanding of integer operations through the application of Probing Prompting Learning (PPL) with Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach. The method used is observation, documentation, interviews, and test methods, while the data analysis uses the percentage formula of the results of observations and the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes formula. Abstract

Polyalphabetic cipher cryptosystem is the study of mathematical techniques that related to aspects of information security such as confidentiality, data integrity, authentication and authentication of data origin. With the internet, long distance communication can be done quickly and cheaply. However, the internet is not very secure because it is a public communication medium that can be used by anyone so it is very vulnerable to information tapping. Cryptography has been widely used in life for example banking atm ATMs, account numbers sacrificed, sending secret military messages. By applying polyalphabetic cipher cryptosystems, pins, account numbers and secret messages sent will be more secure and the information will not be easily known. Keywords: polyalphabetic cipher cryptosystem, banking, pin

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research which the aims is to form students character in the classroom learning process and to determine student activities and student learning outcomes in VIIIB class at Darul Mukhlasin MTs for the 2019/2020 school year with 26 students as the reserh subject. Data collection methods used were documentation, observation, tests and interviews than data analysis in this study using qualitative analysis with the percentage of student activity and student learning outcomes. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that the average percentage of student activeness in the first cycle was 59%, and in the second cycle it was 80%. This shows that from cycle I to cycle II student learning activities increase. Student learning completeness before the study was 42.3%, in the first cycle it was 53%, and in the second cycle it was 91%. This shows that from before the research to cycle I then to cycle II student learning outcomes have increased. Keywords: discovery learning, learning activity and learning outccomes.

Abstract

This aims of the research is to increase student activity and learning outcomes througha learning model Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS). Type of research is a classroom action research (CAR). The subject of this research is 17 students of class VIII SMP Nusantara. The data collection methods are using test methods, observation, and documentation. This research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II. The results of the research can be seen from indicators of the sucsess of the cycle, the first cycle of student learning activities is 72% and the second cycle is 75%. While student learning outcomes in the first cycle was 71% and the second cycle was 85%. From these indicators of sucsess, it is concluded that the application of cooperative learning model with  two stay two stray (TSTS) tipe can increase student activity and learning outcomes.
