Abstract

Today boarding schools (Pesantrens) are faced with issues of orthodoxy and liberation in religious thought. The thought of orthodoxy in boarding schools appears on attitude to literalism, dogmatism, normativism, sacrifaction, and etc. This can be seen from the dogma that “believed” by the pesantren community that what is on the yellow holy books is something that must be followed and believed. Yellow holy Book is considered sacred and should not be criticized. In addition, boarding schools are also faced with the challenge of the Liberal Islam, by bringing forward ratios and interpret religious texts in context. Doing the reading strategies of the religious text itself for continuity to make the production of new meanings that are relevant to contemporary conditions. From the womb of liberal Islamic thought is then born the terms of Islamic rational, Islam is an inclusive, pluralist Islam, Islam is tolerant and such. Here, there are two things that can be used as a portrait of a way of thinking students in developing their religious thought. First, the empowerment of reason in developing a religious paradigm. Reason, which, according to Mohammed al-Jabiri Abied as a means of growth and development of the Contemporary Arab civilization, as well as Islam. This method is more advanced logic in the view of religious issues. Second, accepting differences of opinion in matters that are Furu ‘(branch). This attitude is not a new thing, because Islamic scholars (scholars) used to the differences of opinion and polemic between them. Even Imam Shafi ’i admitted that his opinions are believed to be true, did not rule contain an error. Likewise, other people’s opinions, did not rule contains the truth. Abstract

The productive endowment based on its definition and concept, contains any provisions on the economy, because by doing productive endowment means transferring the wealth from the effort of consumption towards production and investment in a productive capital which can produce something that can be consumed in next times, either by individuals and groups. Thus, the productive endowment is saving and investing activities simultaneously. It includes any activities that may hold the property which can be utilized by waqif directly or after changing into consumer goods. Therefore, the waqf is an activity that contains many elements of future investments and develops the productive assets for future generations in accordance with the charitable purpose, in the form of benefits, services and utilization of the results. The depth review of the productive endowment was written by Monzer Kahf in his book, Al-Waqf al- Islami; Tathawwuruhu, Idaratuhu, Tanmiyyatuhu. He discussed about the definition of waqf, its history and jurisprudence waqf, the method of management of productive endowment, and its role in improving the welfare of the people and developing the Islamic institutions.

Abstract

All economic activity originated from human physical needs in orderto survive in this world. All purposes to survive desperately sought his own will,but if the needs to survive cannot be met by himself, so he has to take the socialinteraction in fulfilling his needs of life. This interaction represents the economic interactions including of demand and supply, consumption and production. Islamexplained that the earth and everything in it is the mandate of God to human inorder to be used as well as possible for the prosperity and welfare. Islam alsoteaches human to apply the economic activities in order to gain the pleasure ofAllah in its function as the caliph in this world.

Abstract

Terorisme kembali lagi datang mengancam bangsa Indonesia setelah terjadinya ledakan bom di Hotel JW Marriott, Ritz Carlton dan bom Bali beberapa tahun lalu. Dari peristiwa peledakan ini, dapat dianalisis bahwa serangan sengaja dilakukan di tempat-tempat umum dengan target yang jelas. Inilah sesungguhnya tipikal aksi terorisme yang terjadi di berbagai belahan dunia. Serangan 11 September terhadap WTC dan gedung Pentagon di Amerika Serikat, peledakan bom Bali, ledakan bom JW Marriott 1, peledakan bom di Hotel Marriott 2 dan Ritz Carlton memberikan bukti yang jelas bahwa terorisme membidik sasaran di tempat keramaian. Hal ini menandakan betapa aksi kekerasan yang terjadi sudah mulai mengarah pada aksi yang menimbulkan dampak massif dengan dilakukan oleh para pelaku yang terorganisir. Fenomena inilah yang mendorong penulis untuk membahas teroris, dalam perspektif normatif dan mengkomparasikan dengan konsep jihad. Selama ini para orientalis menganggap bahwa banyaknya terorisme yang terjadi karena seorang Muslim mempunyai konsep jihad. Jihad yang sebenarnya dalam konteks sekarang tidak mesti dilakukan dalam bentuk perang. Islam menolak semua pembenaran untuk perang duniawi, seperti kolonialisme, rasisme, ketamakan, dan ekspansi ekonomi. Di bawah pemerintahan Islam semua orang akan bekerja bersama-sama sebagai satu keluarga besar, menjadikan semua makhluk sebagai satu kesatuan tanpa tujuan- tujuan yang saling bertentangan. Abstract

The endowments as a mainstream of establishment of social justice and moslems welfare need to be empowered by exploring a number of economic potention and its supporting facilities, and developing the productive endowments assets. While the agency of endowments (waqf) which is spearheading of the waqf management has contributed greatly to achieve a just and prosperous society, through empowerment of productive endowments. This means making productive endowments as a medium to create economic justice, reducing poverty, developing the social of security system, providing health services, and developing educational facilities. Therefore, the waqf is a religious institution that has a direct functional linkage with the effort to solve the social and human problem. This phenomenon which makes the discussion of productive endowments is very urgent, especially if it is associated with the development of education. Abstract

Endowments to save a great potential to be developed into a productive asset, which in the end was not only able to support socio-religious services, but also directed to support the various initiatives and social justice objectives. In addition, of course, the waqf is the economic potential of extraordinary magnitude. The fact that support is today Indonesia is the largest country to 4 and the largest Muslim population in the world, the majority of Muslims is rich with natural resources and endowments part of Islamic teachings potential for empowerment of Muslims, the nation and the State. In fact, when it has passed Law No. 41 of 2004 on Waqf and Government Regulation No. 42 of 2006 on the implementation of Law No. 41 of 2004, and has issued Fatwa Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) on the permissibility of cash waqf in May 2002 as evidence in support of the government, parliament, the clergy and the people of Indonesia on the importance of empowering asset endowments as a strategic step development of the people, nation and state of Indonesia.

Abstract

Waqf is one of the teachings of Islam that has been known since the time of the Prophet SAW, precisely in the second year of Hijriyah which began at the time of his prophethood in Medina and marked by the construction of the Quba Mosque. Then followed by the construction of the Nabawi Mosque built on the land of orphans of Bani Najjar. Waqf also occur during the time of Khulafa’ ar-Rasidin and also the companions thereafter to this day in some Muslim countries. Waqf has played important role in Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait and Turkey. In those countries, waqf is not merely in the form of worship related buildings but also in the form of farm field, educational institution, housing, cash, and capital stock.
