Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) whether or not there is a significant effect of the learning motivation (X1) on the career maturity (Y) of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 3 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013; (2) whether or not there is a significant effect of the productive subject learning achievement  (X2) on the career maturity (Y) of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 3 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013; and (3) whether or not there is a significant effect of the learning motivation (X1) and the productive subject learning achievement  (X2) on the career maturity (Y) of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 3 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013. This research used the descriptive quantitative research method. The population of the research was all of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department as many as 80 students. The samples of the research was 60% or 48 out of 80 students, and were taken by using the proportional random sampling technique. The data of the research were gathered through questionnaire and documentation. They were then analyzed by using the multiple regression analysis aided with the computer program of SPSS 17. The results of the research are as follows: (1) there is a significant effect of the learning motivation on the career maturity of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 3 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013 as indicated by the value of rcount = 0.422 > that of rtable = 0.285; (2) there is a significant effect of the productive subject learning achievement on the career maturity of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 3 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013 as shown by the value of rcount = 0.502 > that of   rtable = 0.285; and (3) there is a simultaneously significant effect of the learning motivation and productive subject learning achievement on the career maturity of the students in Grade XI of the Office Administration Department of State Vocational High School 3 of Surakarta in Academic Year 2012/2013 as pointed out by the value of Fcount = 12.116 > that of Ftable = 3.204. The regression equation is ? = 43.8 + 0.275 X1 + 0.228 X2. The relative contribution of (X1) on (Y) is 38.96%, and the relative contribution of (X2) on (Y) is 61.04%. In addition, the effective contribution of (X1) on (Y) is 13.64%, and the effective contribution of (X2) on (Y) is 21.36%. Keywords: learning motivation, learning achievement, and career maturity.
