Abstract

The study aims to determine the improvement of metacognitive skills and learning activities of students through a learning model talking stick. Classroom action research is done in SMPN 1 Balerejo. Data collection techniques metacognitive skills and learning activities using observation sheet . Results of the first cycle study metacognitive skills 44,22. Results of the first cycle of study learning activities 40,3. Results of the second cycle study metacognitive skills 84,74. Results of second cycle studies 82,62. Conclusion there is an increase in metacognitive skills and learning activities of students through the application of learning models talking stick on the subject matter density of population on the environment SMPN1 Balerejo academic year 2014/2015 .

Abstract

This study aims to determine the content of formaldehyde used as a preservative in driedfish that circulate in the Great Market Madiun and organoleptic salted fish containing formalin.The samples in this study used purposive sampling is a sampling technique with specificconsiderations. Two salted fish samples taken in the North, two samples were taken in the south,two samples were taken in the West, two samples were taken in the east, and two samples weretaken in the central Great Market Madiun. Questionnaire data collection using questionnaires anddocumentation. Results showed that the formaldehyde content in dried fish balur, peda, and terican be determined with Fehling method. If salted fish samples (+) containing formalin there willbe changes color from blue to green color and there are deposits of red brick, while the sample ()containing formalin will remain blue when heated and there is a brick red precipitate. Of 30samples of dried fish salted fish only 1 (-) contain formaldehyde, which is peda salted fish west.Organoleptic clean white color most preferred by the panelists as much as 92% panelists found insamples dried fish balur middle east. Is not the typical organoleptic flavor of salted fish mostpreferred by the panelists as much as 78% of the panelists found in fish samples salted teri east.Organoleptic chewy texture intact most preferred by the panelists as much as 88% and there is apanelist on the samples salted fish teri middle.

Abstract

Every living organism has the ability to reproduce that aims to maintain the kind ( species). Sexual maturity conditions of  Drosophilla melanogaster will affect the outcome of the offspring ,that is a number of offspring and a kind offspring sex. Sexual maturation of female D. melanogaster individuals also greatly affect to the offspring conditions. Genetic research using D. melanogaster as an experimental material will be interesting and challenging for the university students . The purpose of this study was to determine: 1)The effect of age of female D.  melanogaster strains tx on offspring number and the sex of F1. 2) The research results will use as a guide to the preparation of the genetics lab. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design methods . Data were analyzed using analysis of variance of the path (oneway Anova) followed  further test by 5 % BNT test. Data showed the effect of age of female D. melanogaster strains tx on a number of offspring and the kind sex of F1 . The average number of offspring at various ages females are 149.38 . The average of are 72.03 and 77.34 of the female. After further testing with BNT in 5% of level indicates that the number of F1 offspring in females treatment aged 12 , 24 , 36 and 48 hours resulted in a lot of different number of offspring significantly with the number of female progeny from crosses age 60 , 72, 84 and 96 hours resulted in the number of little offspring. From the study it can be concluded that the age of the female D. melanogaster strains tx effect on a number of offspring and a kind of F1 sex of progeny . The older females ,the number of offsprings produced are less, because females decreased fertility and fecundity . Individual males have a higher mortality compared with all age female D. melanogaster strains tx .

Abstract

This aims to determine the use of critical analysis to improve metacognitive skills of students of SMP Negeri 2 Karangrejo on Topic Environmental Management. This research is a qualitative descriptive study is to describe the data obtained by identifying metacognitive skills of students through the use of critical analysis. This research was done in SMPN 2 Karangrejo class VII semester 2015. Researchers used 26 students as respondents and one expert as an observer. Data collection techniques is data metacognitive skills based on critical analysis of the workmanship scores of students, which is interpreted in the assessment of the level of metacognitive skills. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative. Results of the study are: (1) the use of critical analysis showed an increase in metacognitive abilities of students seen from the averagevalue of critical analysis in the first meeting and the second meeting, namely 50.09 and 66.13 (2) the observation of the quality of the implementation of learning have criteria " very good "seen from the average of the two meetings by an average score of 4.5 and a percentage of 91%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the intensity of the rainy season to the abundance of phytoplankton in the reservoir Bening Madison County. As well as exploit some results of research on the abundance of phytoplankton as a medium of learning materials were shaped poster on the types of phytoplankton. This study uses a quantitative approach to the exploration technique. There are six points each station with two sample replicates. The results showed that in Reservoir Bening Saradan found 16 species of phytoplankton that is Synedra acus, Synedra ulna, Navicula grevillei, Tetragonodium verum, Crucigenia rectangularis, Ulothrix cylindricum, Nitzchia paleaceae, Ceratium candelabrum, Goniochloris sculpta, Scenedesmus ocuminatus, Navicula sp, Nitzchia acicularis, Spirulina major, Ceratoneis acus, Pediastrum simplex, Pleurota eniumtrabecula. Phytoplankton abundance is the most ubiquitous class Bacillariophyceae. Phytoplankton abundance is influenced by monsoon intensity 40,9%. While 59,1% of other factors influenced the agricultural wastes that contain elements of N, P, K, which can improve nutrient. The highest phytoplankton abundance in December is 138,64 ind/l with 12 species of phytoplankton. The number of rainy days in the December low at 25/31 days allows a maximum of phytoplankton photosynthesis. Lowest phytoplankton abundance in February which is 65,14 ind/l. Phytoplankton abundance is directly proportional to the intensity of the rainy season. The number of higher intensity, phytoplankton abundance is also higher, and vice versa. Physical and chemical conditions Bening Reservoir categorized according to the results of research in the waters of the state are less fertile and less than optimal for the growth ofphytoplankton.

Abstract

Learning Bology is focussed on the students’ involvement and activeness to make them easier to understand the instructional materials on the concepts of biology. To develop the existing teaching methodology at SMP Negeri I Karanganyar, Recoprocal Teaching is implemented as one of cooperative teaching strategy which enables the mutual activities of teachers and students under four understanding strategy, i.e. summerizing, questioning, clarifying and predicting. This research is intended to to identify the strategic significance of Reciprocal Teaching on the biology achievement of the seven graders of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar. The sample of this reserach are students of class VIIA and VIIB who are determined by random sampling technique. The t-test analysis technique results in computation that working t is 1.902 and table t is 1.675 under the level of sihnificance of 5%. The result shows that reciprocal Teaching has a significant influence on the achievement in biology of the students of VII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar.

Abstract

The aim of this research is profiling the use of e-portfolios within metacognition based science learning to improve 21st century skills. Profiling is done through observation towards: 1) students’ metacognition awareness, 2) understanding of portfolio and e-portfolio, 3) administrative tasks, 4) process of giving tasks from lecturer. The samples in this study are four lecturers and eighty-seven students of FPMIPA IKIP PGRI Madiun. The instrument that used is questionnaire. The data are analyzed with descriptive qualitative using triangulation and strengthening of reference. The results of the study inform; 1) students’ metacognition awareness is in low at 55,17%, 2) students’ understanding about the portfolio and e-portfolio is still low at 57,47% dan 62,07%, which is inversely proportional to the ability of IT by 86.20%, 2) 35.48% students file neatly the assignment in softcopy, 3) two of four lecturers familiarize students to upload the assignments via internet. Based on needs analysis, it is required to use e-portfolio software with the basis of metacognition to support the lecture, in order to improve 21st century skills for students.    Keywords:   needs analysis, e-portofolio, metacognition, 21st century skills
