Abstract

This study aims to develop a reference book on the basis of a study on bioecology bryophyte community structure in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. This study used research and development design from Borg and Gall. Two kinds of reference books were developed in this study: biology reference book and ecology of bryophyte reference book. This study revealed that results of validation on book materials, graphics, language and preliminary testing indicated that the book was developed fulfilling standardized criteria of good reference book. There was no revision required to improve the books.

Abstract

The aims of this study are to describe the learning process in animal structure courses and learning outcomes obtained by students of Biology Education Study Program, Teachers Training and Education Faculty, Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya after attending lectures. The research method used is survey data collection using a questionnaire. As many as 60 students who have attended and graduated in animal structure lectures in the 4th semester of the 2014/2015 academic year were used as research samples. Samples were taken using simple random sampling technique from a population of 90 students. Then the data obtained is processed using descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that students have an interest in animal structure courses, especially in practical activities. The implementation of learning in animal structure courses has not been carried out optimally. The indication is from the non-socialization of the learning model used by lecturers which has an impact on various generic skills that are not maximally trained and developed.

Abstract

Information literacy is a fundamental aspect to ease students in encompassing the knowledge-making process as well as empowering their capacity in using and creating various information and knowledge products. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of integrating information literacy rubric with Project-Based Learning on students? learning outcomes in Structure of Plant Development course. This quasi-experimental research used a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was the all biology department undergraduate students at the Universitas Negeri Malang in 2018/2019 academic year. The sample consisted of 120 students which were divided into two groups (control and experiment). The data gained was analyzed using one-way ANCOVA. The results showed that Project-Based Learning which was integrated with information literacy rubric had a significant impact on biology students? learning outcomes. Based on the findings, it is suggested that educators should provide a proper strategy as an effort to support their students? learning outcomes.

Abstract

Science Process Skills (SPS) are the essential abilities which need to be mastered in learning biology to strengthen students? learning outcomes. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between SPS and biology Cognitive Learning Outcome (CLO) of senior high school students. The sample was 100 tenth graders in Malang. The correlational study used two test types as the instrument (i.e. essay and multiple choice). The essay instrument consisted of 10 items which were developed from SPS aspects (basic and integrated skills). Meanwhile, the biology CLO was measured using multiple choice test which consisted of 30 items. The collected data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the highest students? SPS aspect was observing (78.84%), while the lowest was predicting aspect (27.30%). In addition, the highest achievement of students? biology CLO was C1 (94.23%), while the lowest was C6 (33.46%). The regression analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between students? SPS and biology CLO, where the equation was Y = 27.988 + 0.311X.  Therefore, it is crucial to consider SPS to be integrated into a learning activity by using various learning models that empowering these skills to improve students? biology CLO.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki keanekaragaman makroalga jenis baik yang bersifat “will crop” maupun beberapa yang telah dibudidayakan Salah satu makroalga dari kelas Chlorophyceae yaitu Caulerpa merupakan sumber daya hayati kelautanPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginventarisasi jenis-jenis Caulerpa yang ditemukan di Pantai Kondang Merak.  Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif-eksplorasi. Lokasi penelitian berada di kawasan wana wisata Pantai Kondang Merak  yang secara administrasi berada di wilayah Kabupaten Malang. Bahan amatan atau spesimen adalah jenis Caulerpa yang ditemukan di plot pengamatan atau petak cuplikan pada batu karang, pasir serta intensitas cahaya yang cukup Jenis Caulerpa yang ditemukan di Pantai Kondang Merak  ada enam jenis termasuk suku Caulerpaceae dan bangsa Siphonales.Ciri secara umum dari Caulerpa adalah keseluruhan tubuhnya terdiri dari satu sel dengan bagian bawah yang menjalar menyerupai stolon yang mempunyai rhizoid sebagai alat pelekat pada subtrat serta bagian yang tegak disebut asimilator.Bentuk asimilator bervariasi tergantung jenisnya.Caulerpa merupakan salah satu jenis alga hijau yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan dan termasuk dalam Feather Seaweed. Feather Seaweed dilaporkan sebagai makroalga yang dapat dimakan, mempunyai zat bioaktif seperti anti bakteri, anti jamur, anti tumor dan bisa digunakan untuk terapi tekanan darah tinggi dan gondok.Penelitian mengenai eksplorasi dan pengolahan Caulerpa perlu dikembangkan mengingat Caulerpa memiliki potensi sebagai bahan obat, pangan dan gizi.Kata Kunci;Caulerpa,variasi morfologi,potensi, pantai Kondang Merak

Abstract

The low of students’ critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes can be caused by learning difficulties. One of the causes is the lack of availability of learning resources that are relevant and easily applied. The aim of this research is to produce a Problem Based Learning-based e-module based on the results of research that is valid, practical, and effective. The development model used is ADDIE with stages are analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate. The resulting e-module is very valid and very practical with the validation value by content expert=100%, learning expert=98,65%, field practitioners=92,85%, and then the value of practicality=86,99%. The result of quade’s rank analysis of covariance test with p-value is 0,000<α (α=0.05) and the result of ANCOVA test with p-value is 0,000<α. The conclusion is Problem Based Learning-based e-module based on the results of research can improve critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students.

Abstract

Abstract: The development aims to produce a valid and practical module about Enviropreneur Sampah based on problem-based learning. The development uses the ADDIE model which has five steps, there are analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validity of the modules is assessed by validators of teaching material experts, material experts, and field practitioners (teacher). The practicality of the module is assessed by the module user (student). The results of the analysis showed that the validity of the materials (content) was 100%, the validity of the teaching materials was 100%. The validity in the field practitioners (teacher) was 87.6%, and the practicality module was 81.54%. Based on the analysis results show that the developed module is valid and practical. The analysis shows that the module developed is valid and practical.Abstrak: Pengembangan bertujuan untuk menghasilkan modul enviropreneur sampah berbasis problem-based learning yang valid dan praktis. Penggembangan menggunakan model ADDIE yang mempunnyai lima tahap, yaitu analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Kevalidan modul dinilai oleh validator ahli bahan ajar, ahli materi, dan praktisi lapangan (guru). Kepraktisan modul dinilai oleh penguna modul (siswa). Hasil analisis menunjukkan validitas materi 100%, validitas bahan ajar 100% dan validitas praktisi lapangan 87,6%, serta kepraktisan modul sebesar 81,54%. Berdasarkan hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan valid dan praktis.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to study the needs of teaching material in ethnobotany for students of biology department S1 UIN Maliki Malang. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques used is by distributing questionnaires. The results, 79% of students know about the concept of ethnobotany and no student knows about Talang Mamak. 59% of students stated in the learning process dominated by using PowerPoint compared with other teaching materials and 100% of students agreed if the supplement book is developed. Therefore, it was concluded that necessary to develop teaching materials in the form of supplement books for ethnobotanical courses.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kebutuhan bahan ajar pada mata kuliah etnobotani bagi mahasiswa S1 Jurusan Biologi UIN Maliki Malang. Penelitian ini berjenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara penyebaran angket. Hasil angket menyatakan bahwa 79% mahasiswa mengetahui tentang konsep etnobotani dan tidak ada satupun mahasiswa mengetahui tentang masyarakat adat Talang Mamak. 59% mahasiswa menyatakan dalam proses pembelajaran didominasi menggunakan powerpoint dibanding dengan bahan ajar lainya dan 100% mahasiswa setuju jika dikembangkan buku suplemen. Maka dari itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perlu mengembangkan bahan ajar berupa buku suplemen untuk mata kuliah etnobotani.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effect of project-based learning (PjBL), predict-observe-explain (POE), and predict-observe-explain based project (POEP) on metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes in biology learning. The research used a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The experiment was conducted from August to December 2020. The metacognitive awareness questionnaire was applied to measure students’ metacognitive awareness. Besides, an essay test was used to assess cognitive learning outcomes. Data collection in this study was carried out using Google Form, Google Classroom, Google Meet, and WhatsApp. Data analysis using statistical product and service solutions (SPSS) version 23 software. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) results analysis showed that PjBL, POE, and POEP affected students’ metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes in biology learning with a value of p<0.005. The least significant different (LSD) result was significantly different in improving students’ metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes. The POEP class gained the highest posttest score. Therefore, POEP could be applicable to improve students’ metacognitive awareness and cognitive learning outcomes in Biology learning.

Abstract

Batik merupakan warisan budaya khas Indonesia yang memiliki daya tarik tinggi di kawasan lokal maupun internasional. Batik jumputan adalah salah satu jenis batik yang mudah dibuat, memiliki banyak variasi teknik pembuatan, dan daya jualnya tinggi. Malang sebagai salah satu daerah tujuan wisata di Indonesia memiliki kesempatan besar untuk memanfaatkan batik jumputan menjadi komoditas di pusat oleh-oleh. Pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam pembuatan batik jumputan diharapkan dapat meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat Malang, khusunya di daerah Lowokwaru. Upaya pelestarian melalui pelatihan perlu dilakukan untuk memberikan keterampilan membuat batik jumputan. Penelitian dan pengabdian masyarakat ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengambilan data meliputi observasi, dokumentasi, dan survei. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu PKK di Lowokwaru, Malang. Analisis data dilakukan dengan mengelompokkan data hasil observasi dan kajian literatur ke dalam domain-domain hingga diperoleh suatu kesimpulan. Setelah melalui pelatihan, ibu PKK di Lowokwaru memiliki keterampilan untuk membuat batik jumputan dengan teknik ikat dan jahit untuk meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat. Sehingga diharapkan dengan demikian batik jumputan dapat terus dilestarikan.
