Abstract

Regional autonomy has provided a rightful authority for local governments to set and manage their own governmental affairs. The implication derived from this regulation is that local governments have to fulfill the regions’ needs as well as to explore much more potentials owned. This can enhance the capacity of local governments that could be a useful capital in financing operational programs. This research aims to analyse the influence of region own source revenue, balance fund, and other lawful local revenues on local government expenditure of regencies and city in Papua Barat province between 2010 and 2015. Sample in this research includes six regencies and one city. Panel data regression was employed to estimate the fitted model. The result indicated that the effects of balance fund and other lawful local revenues were positive and significant, whereas the influence of region own source revenue was not significant on government expenditure of regency/city in Papua Barat.

Abstract

Poverty is the main problem occurred in all developing countries, including Indonesia. Poverty rates in Indonesia are very various between provinces. Poverty alleviation also have strong association with the implementatation of programs and tasks derived from the government budgeding instument. This paper aims to analyse the influence of government spending on education and health on poverty rate in Papua Barat province. Sample in this research includes five regencies and one manicipality. Panel data regression was employed to estimate the fitted model. The results indicated that government spending on education has a significant influence on poverty reduction, meanwhile government spending on health has not been a significant driver for reducting the poverty rate. An important implication is that the the implementation of budgeting on education need to be increased by taking into account the effectiveness of its allocation, so that it is expected to connect with poverty alleviation through reducing unemployment and expanding job opportunities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ticket prices, income levels and service quality on demand for interisland crossing transportation services in Marampa Port, Manokwari Regency. The sample of this study was 75 passenger respondents. Data analysis in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the level of income had a significant effect on demand for inter-island crossing transportation services at Marampa Port in Manokwari, while ticket prices and service quality did not have a significant effect. The implication of this research is that the substitution of other modes of transportation can occur if there is an increase in the level of passenger income. In addition, improving the quality of services needs to be continued both by the local government and the port administrator.

Abstract

fisheries in Fakfak Regency. This study used a survey method with direct interview techniques for respondents consisting of fishermen, collectors, retailers, wholesalers and processed fisheries traders. The results showed that, the largest income average of capture fisheries marketing institutions in Fakfak district was at large merchant institutions with a level of income of Rp. This is because large traders sell fish in very large quantities with the aim of selling outside the city of Fakfak. A very large cost is proportional to the income received by large traders. However, the lowest income is obtained by retail traders. Fishermen who have higher income from retailers and collectors are also associated with production costs that are not too large when compared to the purchase costs incurred by traders. The average production cost incurred by fishermen is Rp 2,392,272 which consists of fuel costs, storage costs and consumption costs.

Abstract

This study aims to find the variables that most influence the length of time to get a proper job for an educated workforce. Some influencing factors based on previous research which are used as independent variables include the level of education, skills, wages and age. This research hypothesises is that simultaneously and partially, the four variables affect the length of time seeking for a job. A regression analysis had been conducted to prove this hypothesis. This research used 100 educated labour as respondents in Manokwari Regency. The result shows that simultaneously, at a 90% confidence level, all independent variables influence the length of time looking for a job. Meanwhile, partially, only the skill variable significantly influences it.

Abstract

Purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the number of electronic furniture, the number of lamps, the number of family dependents, income and electrical power on the electricity demand by households in Amban Village, Manokwari Regency. The data obtained comes from the results of interviews and literature review that supports this research. The analytical tool used in this research is multiple linear regression. The results showed that the number of electrical furniture, the number of lamps and the number of dependents did not affect household electricity consumption, while income and electrical power did not affect household electricity consumption demand.

Abstract

Women act as wives and even mothers for children in the household by carrying out domestic tasks at home to take care of and serve their husbands and family members. When women have many dependent needs in the family, women take on a dual role to be absorbed in the world of work in the informal sector as traders by trading in the market in order to generate income in order to meet the needs of family life. This study aims to analyze the factors of age, working hours, education level, and the number of dependents on the income of female traders in Sanggeng Manokwari Market by using multiple linear regression analysis tools. The regression results show that there is a significant effect of age and working hours on the income of female traders, while the level of education and number of dependents does not show a significant effect on the income of female traders in the Sanggeng Manokwari Market.

Abstract

The concept of development in Indonesia is an effort to increase equitable distribution of development and its results through sectoral policies and community performance, especially in rural areas. To prosper the village community, the government issued a special budget for villages through the Village Fund Allocation (VFA) to increase community independence, including the Sumber Boga Village. The amount of VFA for Sumber Boga Village naturally should be followed by an increase in the welfare of the community. This study aims to analyze the effect of the management of VFA on the welfare of the community in Sumber Boga Village, Masni District, Manokwari Regency. The type of research used is qualitative and descriptive research using 88 heads of families as respondents obtained using purposive sampling technique. Regression analysis was carried out and the results show that either partially or simultaneously, all independent variables affect people's welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Gender Inequality in Education, Health, and Employment on the Gross Regional Domestic Product in West Papua Province 2015 – 2019. The type of this research is a quantitative method using secondary data where the data is obtained from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency. The method of analysis in this study is panel data analysis (combined time series and cross-section) which is processed using the help of the Eviews9 program, and the regression model used is the Common Effect model. The results showed that the education and health variables had a positive and significant effect on GRDP, while employment had a positive but not significant effect on GRDP in West Papua Province. As well as for the simultaneous influence of the variable gender inequality in education, health, and employment on GRDP in West Papua Province.
