Abstract

The riverbank area is a waterfront area that has several advantages, especially those related to more strategic functions and accessibility. The geographical condition of the State of Indonesia, especially Papua Province, which has many rivers as a life orientation, makes the riverbanks a place to live and get a livelihood. This study aims to determine or identify the factors that influence environmental pollution of the Acai River, analyze community behavior towards environmental conditions, what efforts can be made in environmental management and what are the activities and behavior of the people living on the banks of the Acai River. The results showed that the factors that influence the pollution are the lack of garbage collection basins, disposal of activity waste to the community into the river. Then the behavior of the community still does not pay attention to the environment and does not care about the condition of the environment around them, especially regarding the Kali Acai River. Recommendations of this study are intense socialization to raise awareness to the community, and intense cross-stakeholder care involving elements of the government, NGOs and local communities to produce integrated environmental management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and determine the pattern of waste management, to assess the active role and involvement of the community in waste management through the 3R method (reduce, reuse, recycle). The research methodology uses descriptive quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis methods. Collecting data through observation, questionnaires, and interviews with the sampling technique used is the Stratified Random Sampling method with a sample of 100 respondents. Through the identification carried out, it was found that the community's preference for waste management was included in the good category. Community participation in the current solid waste management system is still low. The role of stakeholders in waste management is still only normative. The potential and constraints of community participation can be developed into a form of household scale management, a form of communal management, and a form of centralized management. Thus, it was found that in order to find a form of waste management in accordance with local conditions, it was necessary to assess community preferences, development potentials and constraints, as well as the economic potential of solid waste, which was integrated with the current form of management.

Abstract

According to information from BNPB for the district/city of Jayapura, in the last 10 years from 2009 to 2019 natural disasters floods rank first in the number of events that have been experienced. The research was conducted in the Kali Acai river, Abepura District, Jayapura City. The research time is estimated to be ±2 months with data taken in the form of primary data and secondary data. The results of channel evaluation carried out both secondary and primary channels when compared with the maximum flood (Q plan) that occurred in the Acai Sub-watershed with a 10 year return period, amounted to 154.197 m3/sec. Meanwhile, the results of the evaluation of the Acai River's capacity are still quite large without sedimentation and garbage. The vulnerability of the urban community due to the flood disaster that occurs is seen from the social aspect including age, gender, and community education in Abepura District. From the variables, namely the age level of 28.36% and 1.35%, it has a relatively small population of disaster-prone groups. The gender variable shows that the number of vulnerable are women in the amount of 45.47% of the total population of male and female productive age, while the variable for the level of vulnerable education is 54.43% who have primary school education. Efforts that can be made by the government and society in flood control efforts are through structural and non-structural methods.

Abstract

Kana'an Jaya Orphanage is one of the privately owned social institutions that was originally a shelter for abandoned children and orphans who came from several areas of political conflict in the Papuan Mountains. In 2019 there was a flash flood disaster that ravaged their building facilities. Some facilities, such as the reading room, were destroyed. Inadequate facilities for learning are certainly a factor in not realizing the development of human resources as desired by the Chair of the Foundation. So in accordance with the goals of the chairman of the foundation, the Community Service team renovated the reading room while also equipping reading facilities such as bookshelves, reading tables, reading books as well as repairing and maintaining parts of the room that can provide comfort and increase children's reading intentions. The method of implementing this community service program includes surveys on the availability of supporting facilities for children's libraries. Arrangement of a comfortable library space for children by providing library shelves and books. As a result, the procurement of a library at the orphanage can be carried out, with facilities provided in the form of 4 bookshelves and reading books. Abstract

In the 2015-2019 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), one of the priority locations for the development of an independent and integrated new public city in the Papua Island region is Kota Baru Sorong. In supporting the infrastructure facilities of the new city of Sorong for clean water, in an effort to find clean water, groundwater emerges as a prima donna, becomes our main choice in meeting water needs, of all the advantages possessed by groundwater there are things that we must pay attention to, one of them is only groundwater should be the last option in meeting our water needs after surface water and rainwater. By formulating the groundwater problem, two essential problems arise, namely the existing condition of groundwater use and the role of the government in controlling its use, with the method of collecting observational data and interviews combined with existing secondary data. the role of the government through concepts, actors and mechanisms for controlling groundwater use in the city of Sorong
