Abstract

E. PURWANINGSIH & I. BUDIARTI. 1986. Rearing Stomoxys calcitrans (Diptera : Muscidae) in the laboratory. Berita Biologi 3(5): 240 - 243. The stable fly 5. calcitrans was reared in the laboratory in an attempt to the study the biology. Flies captured from the field were used as parent stock. Eggs were laid within 4 days after captured. The total number of eggs deposited were 48 (15-96) with an incubation period of 1,6 (1-3) days. The larval and pupal period were 4,9 (8-23) days and 6,4 (1-3) days respectively. Hatching of eggs reach 26,1 (21,4-31,1) %. Adult emergence reach 86 %. Feeding activities was recorded for the adult as well as larvae. Flies could survive for 2-32 days in the laboratory without any sign of being able to produce offspring. Behaviour and the morphology of each development stage were discussed.

SAIM. 1988.Nematode parasites infestation on rats in Sunda Strait and its vicinity.Berita Biologi 3(8): 386 - 389.Four species of parasitic nematode namely Cruzia sp.,Hepatojarakusmalayae,Molincus sp. andRictularia tani,were recovered from three species of rats.These rats were captured at Cidaun. Peucang Island and Rakata Island, located in the vicinity of Sunda Strait,West Java.Among the four species of nematode recovered, Cruzia sp.had never been reported infesting rats before.

Abstract

The switching and the mixing code are now become a usual phenomenon in this globalization era. Code mixing can occur when the person understand the other language as well. The aims of the research are to find out the types of code mixing that frequently found in English novel entitled “Crazy Rich Asians” by Kevin Kwan, to find out the part of novel which is frequently used code mixing, and also to find out the reasons that make them do code mixing within a sentence in English novel entitled “Crazy Rich Asians” by Kevin Kwan. The writer uses the qualitative research method in analyzing and interpreting the data. The population in this research is the part one, part two, and part three of the novel. In addition, the sampling is the writer using the multi-stage cluster sampling in which the writer will choose the data randomly according to the types of the code mixing. The result of the research is there are 20% of alternation, 76% of insertion, and 4% of congruent lexicalization. Therefore, the most dominant types of the code mixing that found in the novel is insertion. The next is the percentage of the part of the novel in using code mixing are 55% for part one, 41% for part two, and 4% for part three. Thus, the part of the novel that dominant in using code mixing is the part one. This also makes the point for the reason in using code mixing. There are some reasons of using code mixing in the English novel entitled “Crazy Rich Asians” by Kevin Kwan are to express the attitude, the messages, the situations, and the emotions in order to make the story more expressive and be an original story. Abstract

This study about the conflicts of the main character in the novel Still Alice. The main character in the novel Still Alice is Alice Howland. Alice Howland faces many conflicts with herself, her family and friends in the novel Still Alice. The Objectives of the research are to find out the types of conflict that occur on the main character in the novel Still Alice and to find out the type of conflict occurs dominantly in the novel Still Alice. The writer uses psychological approach for analyzing types of conflict in main character, Alice Howland in the novel Still Alice. The writer uses qualitative descriptive method to find out types of conflicts in main character in the novel Still Alice. The results of this study shows that Alice Howland has four types of conflict according to the of Kurt Lewin’s theory, As follows: Approach – Approach Conflict, Avoidance – Avoidance Conflict, Approach – Avoidance conflict, Double Approach – Avoidance Conflict and the type of conflict occurs dominantly in the novel Still Alice is the approach - avoidance conflict. Everyone always experience a lot of problems in their lives. Therefore, everyone should be able to resolve their problems by taking the best decision for them and other people in their problems.Keywords: Literature, Conflicts, Psychology

Abstract

Novel is one type of literary works. Novel as a fiction offers an imaginative world that is not much different with the reality. In process of writing, the authors use figurative language to convey the ideas. The use of appropriate figurative language will give the effect of aesthetic, so the readers will be more interested to know and imagine what the actual meaning from that figurative language which is conveyed. This research focuses on investigating the four kinds of figurative language, they are simile (clear and unclear similarity), hyperbole, personification and metaphor in the novel entitled If I Stay by Gayle Forman. The aims of this research are to find out the characteristics of simile (clear and unclear similarity), hyperbole, personification, and metaphor and to find out the most frequently figure of speech category used in If I Stay’s novel. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method in analyzing the figures of speech in the If I Stay’s novel. As the conclusion, clear similarity has characteristics like there are vehicle, tenor, connector (like, as such, etc), and contain the details of the similarity, while unclear similarity has characteristics which there are vehicle, tenor, connector (like, as such, etc), and do not contain the details of the similarity. Hyperbole has the characteristic that is overstatement or say something much bigger than the real. Personification has the characteristic that is human being or gives human attributes to nonhuman. The characteristics of metaphor which there are vehicle and tenor but there isn’t connector (like, as such, etc). From the four kinds of figures of speech are taken to be analysis, there are 169 times of figurative language occurrence, 74 times (44%) of simile, 72 times (43%) of hyperbole, 12 times ( 7%) of personification and  11 times ( 6%) of metaphor. The most dominant figurative language category used in this novel is simile.Keywords: Figurative Speech, Simile, Hyperbole, Personification, Metaphor.

Abstract

This research report has discussed about "sexist language" The sexist language refers to words or vocabularies that identified the markers of sexist language uses in the media such as “The Jakarta Post”. The basic problems were the usage of sexist language and classify it into three markers, they were non-parallel, lexical asymmetry and generic pronoun/word and also that terms were related to the feminist stylistic in linguistic theory. Actually the sexist language that found was indicated to the jobs title and occupation. Sexist language was mostly dominated by male, it can be seen from the data that found. This research purposed to find out the markers of sexist language and the relation between sexist language uses with feminist. The data has collected from newspaper that was “The Jakarta Post”. From 120 data the writer found that 2 data non-parallel structure, 21 data lexical asymmetry, and 97 data generic Pronoun and word. So it can be concluded that male gender was dominant from the data.Keywords: sexist, sexist language, markers of sexist language, feminist

Abstract

AbstractThis research analysed the effectivity of The Application of Learning Model ?Learning Cycle 7E? in Improving Honest Character and Learning Activity in Accounting Learning for Students of Immanuel Vocational High School Pontianak. The research was an experiment research done in 3 cycles. The population of the research was the X Accounting Class. The sample was random sampling technique for 2 classes, control class and experiment class. The technique for data collecting in the research was using test, questionnaire, observation, and documentation. The technique of data analysis used ?uji-t? to test the difference of treatment, for the experiment class was using learning cycle 7E, and control class was using conventional learning model. The data analysis was done with descriptive statistic quantitative data analysis. The research result showed that the application of learning cycle 7E could increase the learning activity and students? honesty in accounting lesson.         Keywords : Learning Cycle 7E, Learning Activity and honest Character

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to find out the effect of study habits in school on the students? learningoutcomes in the Economic subject of class XI IPS SMAN 6 Pontianak. This study wasconducted in the form of correlational research, of which the data were presentedquantitatively. The sample of this study was 70 students of class XI IPS at SMAN 6Pontianak. Data were collected using questionnaires, of which the validity andreliability had been tested. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression testwith SPSS version 18.00. The finding showed that the students learning habits, ingeneral, was in the medium category by 70%. Based on the analysis, obtained theequation Y = 14.375 + 0,845X. The t-test showed the value of tcount>ttable (3.175 >1.995), meaning that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. The coefficient ofdetermination (R2) by 0,254 showed that the percentage of the effect of learning habitsin school on the students? learning results on the Economic subject of class XI IPSSMAN 6 Pontianak was 25.4%, and the rest 74.6% was influenced by other factorswhich were not examined in this study.Keywords:Lerning Habits in School, Students Learning Outcomes

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research was to find out how much influence the discipline of learning has toward student learning outcomes on economic subjects in  XI IIS 2 class at SMA Santun Untan. The method used in this research is descriptive percentage method with the form of research used is ex post-facto research. This research had all of the 29 students of XI IIS 2 class at SMA Santun Untan  as its population . In collecting the data, the researcher used indirect communication and documentary study technique. The tools of data collection used were questionnaire and docummentation. The technique of data analysis was descriptive and simple regression analysis. Based on the result from the t test that had been done,t value > t table (2,374>2,048) therefore, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted which meant there was a significant positive effect between  the discipline of learning has toward student learning outcomes on economic subjects in  XI IIS 2 class at SMA Santun Untan . The results of the coefficient of determination (R2) amounted to 0.173 which meant the contribution of the effect between the discipline of learning  and student learning outcomes had 17,3%  meanwhile the rest was 82,7% which was affected by another factor that was not included in this research Keyword :Discipline of Learning, Student Learing Outcomes

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang aplikasi word prediction dan wordcompletion yang didesain khusus untuk anak berkebutuhan khusus atau suatugangguan neurologis yang mempengaruhi kemampuan untuk menerima,memproses, menganalisis atau menyimpan informasi. Metode penelitian yangdigunakan bersifat deskriptif analitik yaitu menemukan faktor-faktor esensial darikesadaran linguistik dan kesadaran persepsi visual yang paling berpengaruhterhadap kemampuan membaca anak berkebutuhan khusus. Aplikasi dirancangmenggunakan Netbeans yang digunakan untuk menulis, mengompile, mencarikesalahan, dan menyebarkan program serta JDK yang dibutuhkan untuk mengcompiledan me-launch program java. Piranti word completion dapat membantuanak untuk mempersepsikan huruf secara visual berbantuan komputer. Anakdapat memilih kata yang diinginkan berdasarkan daftar kata yang ditampilkansehingga anak tidak perlu mengetik fonem-fonem berikutnya. Anak yangmempunyai kendala visual dapat terbantu untuk mengenali huruf yang akandipilih untuk menuliskan kata yang diinginkan.
