Abstract

This research discusses the communication patterns of political actors experiencing development over time. After reform and experiencing information openness, Indonesia experienced the rapid development of information technology. The new media are widely used by various parties as a means of communication, not least by political actors to conduct political communication. This communication is concerned with the context of communication that is carried out to a large number of people through the mass media. This study will explain Ridwan Kamil's communication patterns as a political actor and regional head. The communication studied is communication conducted through Ridwan Kamil's personal Instagram page. This research uses qualitative methods, and the data collection techniques used are with primary and secondary data sources. In addition, researchers use theories by Rogers in Anis Hamidati to identify three basic traits that characterize the presence of new current media communication technologies, namely interactivity, de-massification, and asynchronous uses to support this research, such as political communication theory and current media theory.

Abstract

This journal examines the Nasdem Party's campaign strategy in the 2020 Simultaneous General Elections in West Java Province. The election of all Candidate Pairs promoted by the Nasdem Party in five regions in West Java is a proud success, especially during this Pandemic because political campaign and marketing strategies are needed which are certainly different from usual. Theoretically, the victory of Nasdem is analyzed through a campaign strategy with four marketing indicators known as the 4Ps, namely Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. Methodologically, this journal uses a qualitative approach to case studies and literature studies. The data collection technique was carried out using primary data and secondary data taken from journals, online news, both news from television and news from online media, as well as KPU releases regarding data on the results of the 2020 Regional Head Elections. The findings of this study are that the victory of the NasDem Party is highly dependent on Price, Promotion, and Product factors. The five pairs of candidates promoted by NasDem are highly invested candidates, both in terms of campaign financing and in terms of promotion. In addition, the victory achieved by the NasDem Party cannot be separated from the character of the candidates promoted by the Nasdem Party, most of these candidates are candidates who are well known to the public, such as incumbents and former Indonesian actors, and candidates who have extensive networks such as businessmen.

Abstract

Political parties have a fundamental role in democracy. This fundamental role ultimately places political parties in a vulnerable and strategic situation. On the one hand, political parties must compete strictly with funding that is not small, and on the other hand, the presence of fund donors can erode the function of political parties as a liaison between society and the state. The theory used in this article is about political parties, especially funding for political parties. The method used is a qualitative research method with descriptive analysis. The data sources in this article are primary data through interviews with political party officials and secondary data through financial reports and literature studies from journals, news, and other articles. The results of this study indicate that parties that get small votes in political contestation in West Java experience problems in terms of carrying out political education and operational activities due to the lack of sources of funding for political parties. This situation causes political parties to only be able to organize political education internally due to the availability of existing funding. The impact of this situation is that the role of political parties does not work in providing political education to the community, which in turn has an impact on the political participation of the community, which is less effective.
