Abstract

This  research  aims  to  analyze  the  factors  that  affect  farmer attitudes on the rice farming insurance program (AUTP), analyze how is farmer attitudes in AUTP program, analyze the relationship between factors affecting farmer attitudes and farmer attitudes toward the AUTP program, and analyzed differences in farmer attitudes based on the area of insured land, employment outside the agricultural sector and ownership of livestock assets in the AUTP Program. The basic method of research used is quantitative research method with survey technique. The selection of research sites was done purposively. Sampling is taken by proportional random sampling technique and multistage cluster sampling method. To know the correlation between the factors that influence the formation of farmer attitude with his attitude toward AUTP program used Rank Spearman correlation test, while to know whether there is difference of attitude of farmer use U Mann-Whitney different test. The result of the research shows that farmers expressed their willingness to support the AUTP program. There is a significant relationship between the experience of farming (X1), the influence of others who are considered important (X2) and non formal education (X4) with farmers attitude toward the AUTP (Y) program. While there is no significant relationship between formal education (X3) and media exposure (X5) with farmers attitude toward AUTP (Y) program. There is no difference in the attitude of farmers when viewed from the size of the land that is insured, jobs outside the agricultural sector as well as ownership of livestock assets.

Abstract

This research aims at studying organic rice cultivation, the role of kontak tani in organic rice cultivation, the relationship between the role of kontak tani and organic rice cultivation, and whether there is a difference among the role of kontak tani according to farmers that is based on farming education, the expanse of farming field and farming environment. The role of kontak tani covers the role as a leader, a model, a preceptor, an activator and an instructor colleague. This research is conducted using quantitative method. The technique of sampling is sensus method with total number of 60 sample respondents from two farming groups under research. The data of the research is analysed using Rank Spearman correlation test dan U Mann Whitney test.The result of the correlation test shows that the relationship between the role of kontak tani as a leader and as a preceptor towards organic rice cultivation is very significant, and the relationship between the role of kontak tani as an activator towards organic rice cultivation is significant, while the role of kontak tani as a model and an instructor colleague towards organic rice cultivation is insignificant. According to U Mann Whitney test, there is no significant differences regarding the role of kontak taniaccording to farmers based on farming education, the expanse of farming field and farming environment.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to analyze farmer’s attitudes towards the development of Kampung Kelor; analyzing the relationship between age, formal education, land tenure, non formal education, farming experience, and the influence of others who are considered important towards the development of Kampung Kelor; and differentiating the attitude of farming communities that have and have not tried kelor. The research employed a quantitative method by a survey technique. The research location was Kedungbulus Village with the consideration of Kedungbulus Village, is the only producer of Moringa processed products in Pati Regency which has a production permit for Household Industry (PIRT) and related research and assists the process of making Moringa. The samples were taken by proportional random sampling technique. The data analysis that used is Rank Spearman and U Mann Whitney with the SPSS 20.0 program application for Windows. The results of the study showed that: Farmer’s attitudes towards the development of Kampung Kelor (increasing income, educating the community, advancing villages, and increasing food and nutrition security) are good included in the agreed category; the forming factors of community attitudes are significantly related to the farmers attitudes are age (X1), formal education (X2), non-formal education (X4), farming experience (X5), and the influence of others who are considered important (X6), meanwhile the land tenure (X3) is not significantly related; Farmers who have cultivated moringa have a better attitude than farmers that have not cultivated moringa.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the peasants’ perception factors to UPJA, to analyze the peasants’ perception to UPJA, to analyze the correlation between the peasants’ perception maker with the peasants’ perception to UPJA, and to analyze the difference of the peasants’ perception to UPJA based on the farmers area and peasants’ position in the peasants’ group. The basic method used in this research was descriptive quantitative with survey technique. The location of the research was determined by the purposive that was in Tawangsari District Sukoharjo Regency, by taking 2 peasants’ group that was Ngudi Rejeki in Dalangan and Ngudi Makmur in Majasto Village. The sample was determined by multistage cluster random sampling technique, as many as 60 farmer’s respondents. The data analysis used was rank spearman  and  U  Mann-Whitney.  The  result  of  this  research  indicate  that  the perception form factor was the age of the farmers in the medium category, formal education in the high category, non-formal education in the low category, experience in the medium category, income in the very high category, wide land in the very broad categories and the economic environment in the medium category. The Peasants’ Perception to UPJA that was 61.67% farmer’s respondents had the good perception to UPJA.  There  was  a  significant  relation  between  non-formal  education  and  the economic environment with peasants’ perception to UPJA at 99% level of confidence, at 90% level there was a significant relation between the experience, income and land area with the peasants’ perception to UPJA, while the age and formal education there was no significant correlation with the farmers perception to UPJA. There was a significant difference perception to UPJA based on peasants’ area and peasants’ position in peasants’ group.

Abstract

This researchaims to examine the participation of farmers in the application of minapadi in Sleman Regency; examine the effect of non-formal education, experience, household income, paddy field area, group dynamics, and farming environment on farmer participation in the implementation of minapadi in Sleman Regency; and examine whether there are differences in farmer participation based on the farming environment in the application of minapadi in Sleman Regency. This research uses quantitative methods with survey techniques. The population in this study were farmers in the fish farmers group who received the Minapadi package program from the Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Service of Sleman Regency in Pakem District and Seyegan District. Samples using the Census method with 67 respondents as samples. Data analysis using multiple linear regression. The results of the study showed that the participation of farmers in the application of minapadi in Sleman Regency was in the moderate category. Participation factors simultaneously had a significant effect on farmer participation in the implementation of minapadi in Sleman Regency. Participation factors partially have a significant effect on farmer participation in the application of labor in the form of non-formal education, household income, and group dynamics while those that have no significant effect are experience, rice field area, and farming environment. There is no difference in farmer participation in implementing minapadi in Sleman Regency between upstream and downstream areas.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to understanding poverty from the poorer live, so all of programs to eradicate poverty would consider all of aspects peasant life, social, culture, economy and ecology (holistic view). The background of this research are the failure poverty eradication programs because of uncomprehensive method. This research found there are many vurnerability context which faced by peasant, namely : fluctuation price of tobacco, impact of climate change and limited land (small land) and ecological degradation. In the case, there are five different types of capitals are the tobacco peasant families as disposal, namely : natural capital, physical capital, financial capital, human capital an social capital. The study found that there are many different type of mechanism to respon the vurnerability context, namely: accumulation strategy (large land), consolidation (medium land) and survival (small land). All these strategies (in normal and crisis situation) showed that peasant of this area very flexible mechanism to survive.

Abstract

This thesis is written based on the research conducted with an aim at studying the farmers' decision making in reaction to the application of organic rice farming, the factors influencing the farmers· decision making, and the significance of the factors towards the decision making in the application of organic rice farming in Sukorejo Village, Sambirejo District, Sragen Regency. The basic method of this research is descriptive which is applied with survey technique. The research was conducted in Sragen Regency. Purposively, Sambirejo district was chosen with a reason that it has the widest area of organic rice planting in Sragen Regency in the second planting season of the year 2007. From this sample, Sukorejo Village was then taken since it is the village which 01-vns the widest organic rice planting area in the second planting season of the year 200 7. In this research, 60 respondents taken were those who have the experience of planting organic rice. Respondents were taken with the use of simple random sampling method. The result of the research shows that the farmers ' decision making towards the application of organic rice planting in Sukorejo Village, Sambirejo District, Sragen Regency, in the initiation stage, was included into high category. Meanwhile, in the persuasion stage, it was categorized into moderate category, in the decision-making stage it was in the high category, and in the confirmatiolj stage it was categorized into moderate catego,y. The factors influencing farmers· decision in the application of organic rice planting are: age, education, the extent ofthe farming system, income level, economic environrr,ent, social environment, and innovation character. The relationship between age, the extent of the farming system, income level, innovation character and the farmers· decision is insignificant. The relationship between education and social environment and the farmers' decision is very-significant. Meanwhile, the relationship between economic environment and the farmers· decision is significant.

Abstract

Ngadirojo District was one of the centers of beef cattle business development in Wonogiri Regency. But the business done by farmers has not yet produced an optimal income. The purpose of this service activity was to empower farmers by increasing farmers' knowledge through the application of organic fertilizer-based fertilizer production technologies for beef cattle manure and biogas waste so as to increase the income of farmers. The method of this community service activity was through FGD (Focus Group Discussion), counseling, training and demonstration plots on technology for organic fertilizer and biogas production. The result of this activity was an increase in knowledge of farmers after attending counseling and training on organic fertilizer and biogas production technology. Farmers in Gemawang and Gedong Ngadirojo villages have benefited from the construction of biogas installations and the processing of livestock waste into organic fertilizer. The conclusion of this activity was the effort of empowerment through counseling activities and training on processing livestock waste into organic fertilizer and biogas showing success and running effectively as seen from the increasing knowledge of respondents after participating in counseling and training activities.

Abstract

Domestic beef supply is fulfilled by farmers from Kenteng Village, Nogosari Sub-district, Boyolali Regency. Farmers in Kenteng Village develop beef cattle business by forming a beef cattle farmers' groups Sumber Makmur, Taruban Mulyo and Ngudi Mulyo. The problem faced by farmers in Kenteng Village is that the business of beef cattle fattening is not optimal. The purpose of this activity is to empower beef cattle farmers who are members of the livestock farmer groups in Kenteng Village. The method of taking location and respondent in this activity is purposive sampling. This activity methods include Focus Group Discussion (FGD), extension and training activities through the preparation of feed rations and fermented rice straw. The result of this activity is the empowerment of farmers in the business of beef cattle fattening through the implementation of counseling and training for the preparation of ration formulations and fermented straw making in Kenteng Village, which is seen as being more empowered because the farmers' knowledge increases and the feed tested on livestock can be consumed properly so that livestock performance increases. The conclusion of this activity is that farmers become more empowered due to increased farmer knowledge and the feed tested on livestock can be consumed properly, thereby increasing livestock performance.
