Abstract

This study aims to explore the history of the journey of the Panji story and find out its influence on mask art in Bobung, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a historical perspective. Data sourced from informants, places & events, and documents/archives collected using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and content analysis techniques. The validity of the data was tested with the technique of reviewing informants and triangulation of data sources. Data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction procedures, data display, and verification or drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that Roman Panji became the original hero of the archipelago, especially Java, which experienced a peak of popularity during the golden age of the Majapahit Kingdom, namely the middle of the VIII century. Panji became a novel that spread widely covering the archipelago to Southeast Asia. The end of the VIII century until the XV century Panji Mask became a popular show where King Hayam Wuruk was famous as a mask dancer and the main dancer in racket performances. Wayang Beber is a wayang art which in the show brings the story of Panji. Wayang Beber art is in Pacitan, East Java, but also in Karangmojo, Gunung Kidul Yogyakarta. Mbah Karso was the first mask master who was influenced by the Panji story and created the masks that still exist and thrive in Bobung, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. In the current era, Panji Masks have been commodified into handicraft products with economic and tourism value.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Nowadays, narcotics has been a critical problem in Indonesia. It is proven by the vast number of drug abuse cases handled by the National Narcotics Board (BNN). Drug abuse is a great threat, for it brings so much detriment for the abusers both physically and psychologically. Preventing attempt is a must to hinder people from drug abuse. One of the attempts is to build a free-drugs generation through ketoprak. Ketoprak is a traditional Javanese theatrical performing art with setting that usually depicts the ancestral lives and with gamelan and tembang as the background music. The deep traditionality of ketoprak does not make it rigid. The performance can be presented based on the actual events instead, so the moral values can affect the modern people stronger. The appealing performance of ketoprak can also be an effective medium of socialization about drug-abusing detriment rather than the conventional ones.Keywords: narcotics, narcotics-free generation, ketoprakABSTRAK: Dewasa ini, peredaran narkoba di Indonesia sudah berada pada level bahaya. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari beberapa kasus penyalahgunaan narkoba yang berhasil diungkap oleh Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN). Penggunaan narkoba di kalangan masyarakat sangat meresahkan. Narkoba banyak memberi dampak negatif bagi penggunanya, baik fisik maupun psikis. Perlu adanya langkah pencegahan agar masyarakat terhindar dari bahaya narkoba. Salah satu upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan pembentukan generasi muda antinarkoba melalui pertunjukan seni ketoprak. Ketoprak adalah salah satu hasil kebudayaanJawa yang disajikan dalam bentuk pertunjukan sandiwara tradisional. Latar yang diambil dalam pertunjukan ketoprak acapkali menggambarkan kehidupan masyarakat pada jaman dahulu dengan iringan irama gamelan dan tembang. Meskipun terkesan tradisional, pertunjukan ketoprak tidak bersifat kaku. Pertunjukan yang disajikan dapat dikaitkan dengan kejadian-kejadian aktual sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pembelajaran bagi masyarakat modern. Pertunjukan ketoprak dikemas dengan setting yang sangat menarik sehingga lebih efektif digunakan sebagai sarana penyuluhan dibandingkan dengan cara konvensional.Kata kunci: narkoba, generasi antinarkoba, ketoprak.
