Abstract

AbtracThe study of the distribution of sedimentary characteristics in Ulakan Tapakis waters aimed at sediment deposition environmental conditions based on sedimentary characteristics. Sediment sampling was conducted at nine sampling points using purposive sampling technique.Analysis of the sediment fraction was carried out using the wet sieveand pipette methods. The results of the study the Ulakan Tapakis waters had 4 types of sediment namely: sand, muddy sand, sandy mud and mud, which is dominated by sandy mud. The sedimentary statistical parameters showed the value of mean diameter (mean size) range from 0,23-5,73ø with the clasification of coarse sand to medium silt. Skewness values range from -0,90-0,42ø with the clasification of  very negative skewed to very positive skewed. The values of sorting ranges from 2,04-2,53ø with the clasification of very poorly sorted. The value of kurtosis range from 0,47-9,31ø with the clasification of very platikurtik to leptokurtik extreme, indicate the waters under the influence of current conditions that tend to be unstable and the number of anthropogenic aktivities. Keyword: Sedimentary Characteristics, Sediment statistics, Ulakan Tapakis

Abstract

ABSTRACK This research was conducted from February to March 2019 which is located in the estuary waters of the Sungai MesjidPurnama Marine Station, Dumai City, Riau Province. Data analysis of organic matter was carried out at the Physical Oceanography Laboratory of Marine SciencesDepartment, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University Of Riau. This study aims to determine the distribution of organic matter in sediments in estuary areas that are affected by 2 water masses, currents and semidiurnal tidal analysis distribution of organic matter showed that the distribution of organic matter content at low tide ranged from 4.90 to 16.50 %. The results show that the waterflow of Sungai  Mesjid toPurnama coast there are mangrove ecosystems.During tidal events currents from Sungai Mesjid meet with the mass of water from the RupatStrait. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted in Lagoi Waters Banyan Tree Bintan Region to observe  effect accumulated sediment on coral. Three stations were selected forthe measurement of accumulated sediment was conducted using sediment traps which is apllied in the station of coral observation for 21 days. Point Intercept Transect (PIT) was used for the observation of coral reef. Regression analyses was applied clarify the correlation between accumulated sediment  and coral reef. The result of this study showed that the rate of accumulated sediment  in all observation stations ranged from 1.49 – 2.90 mg/cm2/day. The effect can be categorized as low to medium. The condition of coral reef in Lagoi Waters Banyan Tree Bintan Region is classified in good, indicated by  percentage of coral cover in observation stations ranged between 50-74%. The result of regression analysis showed that the accumulated has negative impact of life coral reef in Lagoi Waters Banyan Tree Bintan Region. Keywords : Accumulated sediment, Coral reef, Lagoi Waters.
