Abstract

State Vocational High School 4 Dumai is one of the Technology-based Vocational Vocational Schools. SMK Negeri 4 Dumai is an integrated SMK since it was opened in 2007 with the Agriculture and Technology group which is very supportive of realizing Dumai City as a service and industrial city as well as a gateway for agricultural product exports. SMK N 4 Dumai is a school that is required to have skills after completing studies so that many workshop activities are carried out. In this case, a lot of leftovers or scrap are not utilized and just thrown away. Abstract

A lot of waste is generated from students' activities while at school. A simple effort that can be made to minimize waste at school is to recycle inorganic waste. Students need to be given training on waste management. In this community service program, the training participants were 36 class VII students of Muhammadiyah Middle School, Dumai City. The method of service activities uses lecture, discussion and practice methods. The activity steps are a lecture to explain the study of waste, types and sources of waste, waste management using the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), then continued with questions and answers, demonstrations and practices for recycling inorganic waste (bottles, cans and cardboard) into useful product. This training program can increase female students' awareness, especially regarding waste recycling, so that in the long term it is hoped that it can minimize waste and improve the skills of Muhammadiyah Middle School students in making ecobrick-based creativity

Abstract

The dish soap-making training conducted for the women of PKK RT 06 in Kelurahan Jaya Mukti, Kecamatan Dumai Timur, aimed to enhance their skills and knowledge in the creative economy sector. The activity involved 40 participants and included both theoretical and practical sessions, where participants were taught about ingredients, the soap-making process, and safety and hygiene techniques. The training results showed significant improvements in participants' knowledge and skills. Before the training, most participants lacked basic knowledge of dish soap-making. After the training, they were able to independently produce high-quality soap. This training also strengthened the camaraderie and cooperation among PKK members. However, participants faced challenges in sourcing raw materials. To address this, future training should focus on practical solutions such as providing information on affordable raw material sources and marketing strategies. The sustainability of this training is crucial, with government and stakeholder support needed to help participants develop their dish soap businesses sustainably. This training demonstrates that with the right methods and high motivation, the community can develop new skills beneficial for improving family economies.
