The development of information technology is now growing rapidly, one of which is the internet. Through the internet, the dissemination of news and information is very easy to do. But the fastest report of the latest facts or ideas that are accurate and important to society is news. Then what if the news received by the community is hoax news. So this study aims to find out about people's attitudes in understanding hoax news in Tanjung Merbu Village, Rambutan District and where did the community get this news or information. This research is a qualitative research method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. As well as using data analysis techniques by Miles and Huberman, through activities in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results are explained based on two problem formulations, namely: (1) The people of Tanjung Merbu Village have different ways of obtaining or accessing news, namely through television, radio, magazines, newspapers, internet, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. (2) The attitude of the people of Tanjung Merbu Village regarding hoax news varies, namely by being critical such as telling others if the news is hoax so that people are not easy to believe, do not disseminate hoax news, and do not take information from the hoax news that is read, other than there are still people who do not care about the existence of hoax news.
