Abstract

Target of hypertension management is normal blood pressure or at least in stable condition. Stabilize blood pressure can be obtained if patient done regular checkup to monitor and evaluate his/her health condition. Regular checkup behavior influenced by patient attitude to making decision of his/her blood pressure control and family support to that decision. This study aimed to identify intervening variable between attitude and family support to regular checkup behavior of hypertensive patient in Talang Betutu Public Health Center. This study used analytic survey to 44 hypertensive patients with purposive sampling by questionnaire. Path analysis with logistic regression approach used to conduct conceptual model of influence between variables. Logistic regression result showed there was significant influence between attitude to regular checkup behavior (b: 2.616; p: 0.001) but not between family support to regular checkup behavior (b: 0.238; p: 0.756). Path analysis given model that attitude being intervening variable between family supports and regular checkup behavior so family support had indirect correlation and influence to regular checkup behavior. Thus, nurse education strategies pointed to increasing awareness of hypertensive patient about his/her health condition and effort to maintain blood pressure in control or stable as precaution and decreasing risk of complication.   Keywords:hypertension, attitude, family support, regular checkup behavior, logistic regression, path analysis

Abstract

Diabetes melitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires self-care. The main problem of health care in Indonesia is the lack of optimalization on the culture of patient self-care. One program that aims to facilitate knowledge and skills for diabetes patients is self-care Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME), that based on independent nursing theory by Orem "Self-Care". This study aimed to determine the effect of knowledge post diabetes self management education (DSME) implementation to self-care on patient diabetes melitus. The study utilized quantitative post test quasi experiment design with simple random sampling technique. Total sample of intervention group which is consisted of 56 respondents who received the implementation of DSME and control group which is consisted of 44 respondents who received no implementation of DSME. The statistical analysis using Independent T test resulted significant difference in self-care patient diabetes mellitus (p=0.000<0.05) between those two groups. It is expected that health care workers facilitate the self-care of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus through the use of DSME implementation which has been shown in improving the knowledge and self-care to prevent further complications. Abstract

The risk of falling is easily exsperienced by the elderly. One of the factors that affect the risk of falling in the elderly is a musculoskeletal system disorder such as a walking disorder due to muscle weakness and joint stiffness. Elderly who live in nursing homes are more likely to fall than those who live at home with their family. This isi because the elderly who live in nursing homes tend to be more independent in carrying out their daily activities. The impact of the fall on the elderly is resulting in various types of injurien, physical and psychological damage. This study aimed at determining the correlation between the level of independence and the tisk of falling in the elderly. This study used analytic survey with the cross-sectional design. The population of this study was all elderly at Darma Bhakti Nursing Home KM. 7 Palembang. 31 respondents were selected as samples of this study by using the total sampling technique. The data collection instruments were observation sheets and questionnaires. The data collection instrumens were observation sheets and questionnaires. The data were analyzed by using the Kendall Tau test. The results revealed that the majority of respondents (71.0%) were> 70 years old, the majority of sexes were women (74.2 %), the majority of the levels of independence were dependence (51.6%), and the majority of the risk of falling was high with 22 respondents (71.0%). The Kendall Tau Test result showed there was a significant correlation between the level of independence and risk of falling (r = 0.504; p-value = 0.005). Conclusion: there is a retionship between the level of independence with the risk of falling in the elderly at the nursing home darma bhakti km 7 Palembang.from those result, it was expected that the board of directors should pay more attention to the programs that had been implemented and improve the falling risk prevention education to anticipate recurring falling in the elderly. Keywords: The Level of Independence, Risk of Falling.
