<![CDATA[Identitas gender seseorang, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan, menjadi dinamis karena faktor lingkungan yang ada di sekitarnya. Kedinamisan identitas gender menunjukkan bahwa identitas diri seseorang bukanlah sesuatu yang bersifat absolut. Hal tersebut terepresentasi dalam novel Boy-Boy Love Story karya Salsa Ivy. Makalah ini akan membahas kegagalan tokoh Riano pada novel Boy-Boy Love Story karya Salsa Ivy dalam mempertahankan kestatisan identitas gendernya. Tujuan makalah ini adalah mendeskripsikan kegagalan tokoh Riano dalam mempertahankan kestatisan identitas gendernya. Teori identitas Stuart Hall, yaitu identitas sebagai proses being dan becoming yang tidak pernah statis dan akan selalu berubah, akan digunakan sebagai titik tolak untuk mengungkapkan kegagagalan tokoh  Riano dalam mempertahankan kestatisan identitas gendernya. Hasil kajian terhadap novel ini menunjukkan bahwa kegagalan tokoh Riano dalam mempertahankan identitas gendernya karena faktor lingkungan. Kegagalan tersebut juga disebabkan tokoh Riano tidak memiliki keberanian untuk melakukan perlawanan terhadap kekuasaan yang ada di sekitarnya lingkungannya. The gender identity of a person, both male and female, becomes dynamic because of the surrounding environmental factors. The dynamic of gender identity shows that one's identity is not absolute. It is represented in Salsa Ivy's Boy-Boy Love Story. This paper will discuss the failure of Riano, one of the characters, in the Salsa Ivy's Boy-Boy Love Story in maintaining the static of his gender identity. The purpose of this paper is to describe the failure of Riano in maintaining the static of his gender identity. The theory of identity by Stuart Hall, that is identity as a process of being and becoming which is never be static and always change, is used as a starting point to reveal the failure of Riano in maintaining the static of his gender identity. The result of this research shows that Riano's failure to defend her gender identity is due to environmental factors. The failure is also happened because Riano does not have the courage to fight against the powers in his surrounding environment.]]>
