<![CDATA[Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death and health problems in women. Cervical cancer can be prevented by early detection using the IVA method. Until 2018, only 7,34% of women underwent IVA examinations. IVA examination is not widely known by the public, so an effort is needed to increase the knowledge and attitudes of mothers about IVA examinations by providing health promotion with the right methods and media. The research objective was to determine the differences in the effectiveness of health promotion with film and demonstration media on the knowledge and attitudes of mothers about IVA examination. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized two group pretest posttest design. The population was all women in the working area of Lubuk Buaya Health Center. There was a significant difference in the knowledge of mothers before and after being given health promotion with film and demonstration media (p <0,05), however, there was no significant difference in the attitudes of mothers before and after being given health promotion using film and demonstration media (p>0,05). It can be concluded that demonstrations are more effective than films in increasing maternal knowledge, whereas maternal attitudes, demonstrations and films are equally influential. It is hoped that midwives can provide health promotion by means of demonstration media because it is more effective in increasing knowledge and attitudes about IVA examinations.]]>
