PERBEDAAN PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING DAN CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS SISWA DI KELAS VIII SMP MUHAMMADIYAH 01 MEDAN

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian eksperimen ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang diajarkan dengan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) lebih tinggi dari siswa yang diajarkan dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada materi relasi dan fungsi di kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Medan. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh kelas VIII  yang terdiri dari 11 kelas. Penarikan sampel dilakukan dengan metode cluster random sampling yaitu terpilih dua kelas masing-masing berjumlah 30 siswa, yaitu kelas VIII Terpadu 6 sebagai kelas eksperimen I dibimbing menggunakan model contextual teaching and learning dan kelas VIII Terpadu 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen II dibimbing menggunakan model problem based learning. Instrument menggunakan  pretest dan postest dalam bentuk uraian berjumlah 3 soal dan telah divalidasi.  Dari data akhir diperoleh nilai rata-rata kemampuan representasi kelas CTL sebesar 80, sedangkan kelas PBL sebesar 74,31. Kemudian perhitungan dengan uji-t satu pihak, dimana  dan  diperoleh  sehingga  atau , yaitu menolak  dan  diterima. Dengan demikian kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang diajarkan dengan model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) lebih tinggi dari siswa yang diajarkan dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 01 Medan. Kata kunci: Kemampuan Representasi Matematis, Model Problem Based Learning, Model Contextual Teaching and Learning ABSTRACT The purpose of this experimental study is to determine whether the mathematical representation ability of students taught by the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model was higher than students taught by the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on relation and function subject in the eighth grade students at Muhammadiyah Junior High School. The research population was taken from all of the eighth grade students  which consisted of 11 classes. the sampling was carried out by the cluster random sampling method, namely two classes of 30 students each, there are two classes of 30 students each , namely VIII Terpadu 6 class for the experimental class I guided using the contextual teaching and learning and VIII Terpadu 2 class for the experimental class II guided using the problem based learning. This test instrument uses pretest and postest data in the form of test with 3 validated questions. From the results of calculations with one tailed t-test, with  and , it is obtained that  that is   or , then concluded taken that  is rejected and  is accepted. This means that there is the mathematical representation ability of students taught with the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model higher than students who are taught using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in the eighth grade students at Muhammadiyah Junior High School 01 Medan. Keywords: Mathematical Representation Ability, Problem Based Learning Model, Contextual Teaching and Learning Model
