Abstract

Abstrak: Analisis dan Karakterisasi Minyak Atsiri Lavender dan Peppermint dengan Kromatografi Gas-Spektroskopi Massa (GC-MS) telah dilakukan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan identifikasi warna dengan pengmatan secara visual, dilakukan pengujian densitas dengan piknometer dan dilakukan uji kelarutan minyak atsiri peppermint dan lavender dalam etanol secara visual. Identifikasi komponen golongan senyawa minyak atsiri lavender dan peppermint dilakukan menggunakan alat GCMS–QP 2010 Shimadzu. Kondisi operasional alat yaitu: kolom DB-17MS, suhu kolom 70ºC dan suhu injeksi 300ºC. Warna dan kelarutan dalam etanol dari minyak atsiri lavender dan peppermint memenuhi standar ISO. Berdasarkan data densitas yang mendekati standar ISO yaitu minyak atsiri peppermint sedangkan minyak atsiri lavender masih menjauhi standar ISO. Berdasarkan hasil GCMS tersebut senyawa yang paling dominan pada minyak atsiri peppermint adalah senyawa mentol sedangkan minyak atsiri lavender senyawa yang paling dominan adalah linalool. Kata Kunci: Minyak atsiri, warna, densitas, kelarutan, GCMS, mentol dan linalool Abstract: Analysis and Characterization of Lavender and Peppermint Essential Oil by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) have been carried out. In this study, color identification was done by visual observations, density testing was carried out with a pycnometer and a visual solubility test for peppermint and lavender essential oils in ethanol visually. Identification of components of lavender and peppermint essential oil compounds was carried out using a Shimadzu GCMS – QP 2010 tool. The operational conditions of the tool are: DB-17MS column, column temperature of 70ºC and injection temperature of 300ºC. The color and solubility in ethanol from lavender and peppermint essential oils meet ISO standards. Based on density data approaching ISO standards, namely peppermint essential oil while lavender essential oil is still away from ISO standards. Based on GCMS results, the most dominant compound in peppermint essential oil is menthol compound while lavender essential oil is the most dominant compound linalool.
