There are two approaches of strategic management in which each has different view in reviewing the competitive capability to select one important strategy to reach the best performance. These approaches are Organization Industrial (I/O) Theory and Resource Based View / RBV. The objective of research, therefore, is to understand the effect of macro environment, industry environment, resource, and transactional leadership on competing advantagge strategy and small industry performance, mainly at Wood Furniture Small Industry at West Sumatera Province. For testing the model relationship, therefore, the data are analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Result of research indicates that macro environment significantly influences industry environment. Macro and industry environments are having significant effect on competing advantagge strategy and small industry performance. Resource and transactional leadership are not having significant effect on competing advantagge strategy, but significantly influencing small industry performance.
