<![CDATA[Mosques in Indonesia, now actually consists of more than 700 thousand. This amount is fantastic. However, the number of mosques yag not comparable with the quality of peoples religious ( congregation ) .In theoretical, grandeur and significance, the mosque is not in the beauty of the physical building. However, how the mosque could play a role as a center of civilization and the development of human civilization.Ideally mosques could be center of all activities conducted by moslems. However really mosques are just positioned solely as a center of worship or ritual activities, their ideal roles has been reducted. Perhaps this is a factor of poor quality of the Moslem community, which among others characterized by phenomenon of social disintegration, political and economic backwardness and others. This study aimed to know the function of the mosque at Prophet Muhammad period. Optimization of mosques functions in Prophet Muhammad period could bring any significant changes, from state of ignorance into civil society, materializing hight civilization, thought and strength. This study is expected to formulate appropriate measures to restore the function of mosques in Indonesia accordance to the appropriate roles.]]>
