Abstract

In pregnancy, hypertension is one of the three components that cause maternal death in the obstetric field. In 2020, there were 1,110 cases of maternal deaths due to hypertension in pregnancy. Based on data from the East Java Health Office for 2020, maternal deaths with hypertension in pregnancy were 26.90% or 152 people. In addition to pharmacological treatment, there are non-pharmacological treatments for treating hypertension in pregnancy, one of which is hydrotherapy by soaking your feet in warm water. The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of foot soak therapy with warm water in reducing the blood pressure of pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters at PMB Sumariyah Malang City. This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental research design with a one group pretest posttest design, namely blood pressure is measured after and before warm water therapy is given to hypertensive pregnant women with 5 sessions in 2 weeks. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling method and amounted to 16 people. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Test. The results of the study obtained a significant value (p = 0.000 <0.05), so it can be concluded that the effectiveness of giving warm water foot soak therapy in lowering the blood pressure of pregnant women with high blood pressure from an average decrease in blood pressure of 9 mmHg after 2 weeks of therapy. From this study it was concluded that there are alternative efforts to reduce blood pressure during pregnancy by routinely soaking your feet in warm water. It is hoped that further research can add other non-pharmacological therapy methods to make the blood pressure of hypertensive pregnant women decrease more effectively.
