This article discusses of meaning in the poem titled "Imaji" by Ishak Ashari. This research raises the problem of the meanings of symbols contained in the poem text that is related to extrinsic elements of literary work. The purpose of this research is to analyze the poem using a hermeneutic approach. Hermeneutic analysis is used to reveal the symbols contained in the poem. The analysis conducted is qualitative, utilizing a descriptive method, which involves describing the results of the analysis through the hermeneutic approach. The concept of Zygmunt Bauman is used as an effort to delve deeper into revealing the explicit message within the poem. Through this study, it is hoped that readers can easily comprehend the conveyed meaning, which is metaphorically expressed through figures of speech that are quite intricate for some people to grasp, and can be translated into simpler words. The research results show that "Imaji" portrays various symbols that are interconnected with various events beyond the poem. Through the hermeneutic approach, researchers and readers can understand the meaning that the poem narrates the turmoil between feelings of longing and feelings of hatred, which consistently perplex the subject in their daily life.
