KAJIAN EFEK PEMBERIAN KASCING DAN BIOCHAR SEKAM PADI TERHADAP KETERSEDIAAN N DAN PRODUKSI CABAI RAWIT (Capsium frutescens L.) PADA ENTISOL DELTA SUNGAI PORONG

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of vermicompost and rice husk biochar on nitrogen (N) availability and cayenne pepper production in Entisol soil in the Porong River Delta. A factorial complete randomized design was employed, comprising two factors: vermicompost (0, 10, 20, and 30 tons ha-1) and rice husk biochar (0, 10, 20, and 30 tons ha-1), with three replications, resulting in 48 plants. Initial soil analysis revealed pH of 7.84, c-organic content of 0.15%, CEC of 20.54 cmol/kg-1, ammonium concentration of 102.95 ppm, and nitrate concentration of 98.63 ppm. Vermicompost exhibited a higher c-organic content (14.84%) compared to rice husk biochar (10.20%). Application of vermicompost at 20 tons ha-1 and biochar at 30 tons ha-1 significantly influenced the availability of NH4+ in chili plants at the initial stage. Moreover, vermicompost at 30 tons ha-1 without biochar significantly affected NH4+ availability in chili plants at 90 days after planting. Vermicompost treatment at 30 tons ha-1 demonstrated a substantial effect on soil NH4+ availability. However, vermicompost application did not significantly affect NO3- availability.  Keywords: vermicompost, rice husk biochar, cayenne pepper production INTISARIPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh pemberian kascing dan biochar sekam padi terhadap ketersediaan nitrogen (N) dan hasil produksi cabai rawit pada Entisol Delta Sungai Porong. Penelitian dirancangan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap faktorial dengan dua faktor, yaitu kascing (dalam dosis 0, 10, 20, dan 30 ton ha-1) dan biochar sekam padi (dalam dosis 0, 10, 20, dan 30 ton ha-1), diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Hasil analisis tanah awal menunjukkan nilai pH 7,84, C-organik 0,15%, KTK 20,54 cmol kg-1, amonium 102,95 ppm, dan nitrat 98,63 ppm. Kascing memiliki kandungan C-organik lebih tinggi (14,84%) dibandingkan biochar sekam padi (10,20%). Pemberian kascing 20 ton ha-1 dan biochar 30 ton ha-1 berpengaruh signifikan terhadap ketersediaan NH4+ pada tanaman cabai di awal penanaman. Pemberian kascing 30 ton ha-1 tanpa biochar berpengaruh signifikan terhadap ketersediaan NH4+ pada tanaman cabai pada usia 90 hari setelah tanam. Perlakuan kascing 30 ton ha-1 memberikan efek yang signifikan terhadap ketersediaan NH4+ tanah. Namun, pemberian kascing tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap ketersediaan NO3-. Kata kunci: kascing, biochar sekam padi, produksi cabe rawit
