<![CDATA[Abstract Literary works are often used to voice criticism of the government, society or social construction. Short films are one medium that is often used to criticize these things. The short film entitled Memorial by Achmad Sulchan tries to criticize social construction which results in gender inequality for women. This research uses the gender inequality theory proposed by Mansour Faqih to analyze the problem of gender inequality in the short film Memorial. The results of this research analysis show that there are indications of gender injustice towards the characters Ibu and Kinanti due to marginalization, subordination, societal stereotypes and violence committed by the character Bapak. Marginalization occurs due to societal stereotypes that the mother figure is responsible for taking care of the household and therefore does not have economic power in the family. The subordination aspect occurs due to the influence of a Javanese proverb which makes the figure of the husband the most important role in decision making. The stereotypes contained in this short film result in the mother character trying to remain obedient to the father figure in order to fulfill this stereotype. The violent aspect carried out by the father figure leaves bruise marks on the mother figure's hands. Keywords: Gender inequality, short film,women Abstrak Karya sastra kerap digunakan untuk menyuarakan kritik terhadap pemerintah, masyarakat, atau konstruksi sosial. Film pendek merupakan salah satu media yang kerap digunakan untuk mengkritik hal-hal tersebut. Film pendek berjudul Memorial karya Achmad Sulchan mencoba mengkritik konstruksi sosial yang berakibat pada ketidakadilan gender bagi perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori ketidakadilan gender yang dicetuskan oleh Mansour Faqih untuk menganalisis permasalahan ketidakadilan gender yang terdapat pada film pendek Memorial. Hasil analisis peneltian ini menunjukkan adanya indikasi ketidakadilan gender terhadap tokoh Ibu dan Kinanti akibat marginalisasi, subordinasi, stereotip masyarkat, dan kekerasan yang dilakukan oleh tokoh Bapak. Marginalisasi terjadi akibat stereotip masyarakat bahwa sosok ibu bertugas untuk mengurus rumah tangga sehingga tidak memiliki kekuatan ekonomi pada keluarga. Aspek subordinasi terjadi akibat pengaruh pepatah Jawa yang menjadikan sosok suami sebagai peran terpenting dalam pengambilan keputusan. Stereotip yang terdapat pada film pendek ini mengakibatkan tokoh Ibu yang berusaha untuk tetap taat pada sosok Bapak demi memenuhi stereotip tersebut.
