<![CDATA[Terinspirasi oleh sejumlah kasus bunuh diri di pusat-pusat perbelanjaan (mall) di Jakarta pada2009, 17 penulis bekerja bersama untuk menulis sebuah novel berjudul Lenka dengan menjadikan kasus bunuh diri di tempat umum sebagai tema sentral. Tulisan ini mencermati bagaimana novel sebagai salah satu wujud media terbitan (publishing media) mengeksploitasi satu bagian realitas melalui proses kreatif dan mampu menyodorkan perspektif berbeda akan motif bunuh diri di tempat umum. Selain itu, aspek-aspek fiktif dalam novel dapat dimanfaatkan untuk mencermati kompleksitas di balik kasus bunuh diri yang tidak tereksplorasi oleh media massa. Tulisan ini juga mencoba menyentuh satu isu besar berkaitan dengan upaya tiada henti oleh masyarakat maupun kaum profesional seperti psikolog maupun sosiolog dalam merasionalkan penyebab bunuh diri dengan menawarkan gagasan: Bagaimana jika penyebab bunuh diri tersebut hanyalah hasrat untuk mati? Inspired by a number of suicide deaths occurred at shopping malls in Jakarta in 2009, 17 authors worked together to create a novel – Lenka – which offers suicide in public places as its central theme. This research observes how the novel, as a publishing media, captures one small part of reality and exploits it through creative process and is ultimately able to offer a different perspective about the motive of suicide in public places. Moreover, fictional aspects of a literary work might be useful in scrutinizing the complexities of suicide unexplored in mass media. Furthermore, this research attempts to touch one big issue relating to endless efforts undertaken by societies or professionals – psychologists and sociologist, for instance – in rationalizing the cause of suicide by offering an idea worth to be considered: What if the cause of suicide is merely the desire to die?]]>
