<![CDATA[A kiai had a high social position and was a central figure in a society, especially in Tieng village because of his broad understanding of religion and high spirituality. The purpose of this research was to determine the role of the kiai in Tieng Village, Kejajar, Wonosobo. This research method was a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews, documentation. While the data sources were primary data and secondary data. The analysis technique used was data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results of the research showed that a kiai in Tieng Village had been made a central figure having two important roles, namely as a teacher, as a leader, and as a role model (uswatun khasanah) for the community.]]>
