FORMULASI LOTION EKSTRAK RIMPANG BANGLE (Zingiber purpureum Roxb) DENGAN VARIASI KONSENTRASI TRIETANOLAMIN SEBAGAI EMULGATOR DAN UJI IRITASINYA

Abstract

ABSTRAK Dilihat dari berbagai manfaat bangle, yaitu sebagai antibakteri dan antiinflamasi serta memiliki efek astringent, maka rimpang bangle sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan menjadi suatu sediaan farmasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk formulasi lotion ekstrak etanol rimpang bangle dan menguji sifat fisik serta uji iritasinya terhadap kulit. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi. Penelitian menggunakan 3 formula dengan konsentrasi ekstrak rimpang bangle 6,75%, variasi konsentrasi trietanolamin yaitu 0,4%, 0,45%, dan 0,5% untuk formula I, II, dan III. Kontrol negatif menggunakan trietanolamin 0,5% tanpa ekstrak rimpang bangle. Lotion diuji sifat fisiknya meliputi uji pH, viskositas, homogenitas, kestabilan, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Lotion kemudian diuji iritasinya dengan mengoleskan lotion pada 3 ekor kelinci yang di stripping dan 3 ekor kelinci non stripping. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan ANAVA satu arah dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lotion ekstrak rimpang bangle 6,75% pada semua formula stabil secara fisik berdasarkan parameter pH, viskositas, homogenitas, kestabilan, daya sebar, dan daya lekat. Perbedaan konsentrasi trietanolamin ternyata tidak berpengaruh pada sifat fisik. Lotion ekstrak bangle dengan emulgator trietanolamin diketahui tidak mengiritasi kulit. ABSTRACT Based on the various benefit of bangle, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects and its astringent effect, the rhizome of bangle potential to be developed as a lotion.This research were aimed to formulate ethanolic extract of bangle rhizome lotion, examine its physical characteristic and also irritation test against the skin. Extraction was carried out by maceration method. Research used 3 formulas contain 6.75% bangle extract with variation of triethanolamine concentration, they were 0.4%, 0.45%, and 0.5% for formula I, II and III. Negative control used 0.5% triethanolamine without bangle rhizome extract. Lotion was examined physical characteristic (pH, viscosity, homogenity, stability, dispersive and adhesive). Lotion was also examined for irritation test by applying lotion on three stripping rabbits and on three non-stripping rabbits. Obtained data was analyzed using one way ANOVA with level of convidence 95%. Research result indicated that lotion of 6.75% bangle rhizome extract is physically stable based on the parameters of pH, viscosity, homogeneity, stability, dispersive, and adhesive. Triethanolamine concentration difference did not affect the physical properties. Extract lotion bangle with triethanolamine as the emulsifier be discovered did not irritate the skin.
