Abstract

AbstractIn the language usage, it could not be avoided the use of passive sentence since a statement could not alwaysbe expressed with active sentence. The discussion of passive construction could never be separated with activesentence from traditional to modern grammar. The paper would discuss about the characteristics, forms,and its distribution of passive verbs in sentence, meaning, and its function. Method used is descriptive usingsome techniques like observation, question and answer, elicitation, and procedure of analyzing data usedis classifying data, analyzing passive sentence, and arranging it in sentence. Result of research shows thatpassive verbs could distribute in the initial, middle, and last position of sentence. Affixes of verb passive formercould be combined with other part of speech, it also could combine with noun and adjective.
