Abstract

The demand for energy continued to outstrip supply and necessitated the development of biomass option. Residues were the most popular forms of renewable energy and currently, biofuel production became much promising. Agricultural wastes contained high moisture content and could be decomposed easily by microbes. Agricultural wastes were abundantly available globally and could be converted to energy and useful chemicals by a number of microorganisms. Compost or bio-fertilizer could be produced with the inoculation of appropriated thermophilic microbes which increased the decomposition rate, shortened the maturity period and improved the compost (or bio-fertilizer) quality. The objective of the present research was to promote the biomass technology and involved adaptive research, demonstration, and dissemination of results. With a view to fulfilling the objective, a massive field survey was conducted to assess the availability of raw materials as well as the present situation of biomass technologies. In the present communication, an attempt had also been made to present an overview of present and future use of biomass as an industrial feedstock for the production of fuels, chemicals, and other materials. We may conclude from the review paper that biomass technology must be encouraged, promoted, invested, implemented, and demonstrated, not only in urban areas but also in remote rural areas.

Abstract

The coastal area of Manabita and its surroundings is one of the most beautiful regions of the province, with an extraordinary tourist attraction that has not yet been exploited in its entire dimension. In it are located beaches like the Murciélago, Crucita, San Jacinto among others, that throughout the year are frequented by national and international tourists, who come looking for tranquility and recreation. This paper analyzes the influence of the industrial process of coffee, fish and oil production, which are important in the generation of large amounts of air pollutants, combined with the effects of the marine aerosol, Clay dust produced by the quarries located in the area, which under wind effects deposition of polluting layers on the elements that make up the electrical infrastructure, causing a high contamination of nets and insulation, causing that during the rainy season, The dielectrics behave like conductors, causing as a consequence that affects the service in the territory, mainly during the winter.

Abstract

A random assessment of adolescent girls living in the hostels of Kota revealed a disturbing pattern in their eating habits. Their general consumption was erratic and high on empty calories lacking precautions without any heed being paid to the nutritional value of the food being consumed. A sample of 50 girls (16 to 22 years of age) belonging to middle and higher class families was chosen arbitrarily and provided with a questionnaire methodically planned and the responses were assessed taking into consideration the unique pattern of life they were subjected to. Girls living in hostels have to be under a constant stress, resulting out of factors that are beyond their control. Majority of these factors take a gradual toll on the adolescent’s body making her all the more vulnerable to deficiencies and diseases. Around 78% of the respondents admitted to consuming highly calorific food including fries, pizzas, pasta and burgers on an almost regular basis resulting in disorders ranging from obesity to an early diagnosis of diabetes. Around 17% were found to be suffering from hair fall and mildly anemic.

Abstract

Fish disease control with the use of chemicals and antibiotics have been widely researched usefulness, perceived use of the above ingredients cause a lot of side issues especially when the use of such materials exceeding the threshold value. Based on the various studies that are now addressed to more effectively and efficiently with a minimum negative impact, both in prevention and in the effort to control or treatment. Based on the problems it is one of the ingredients selected as the material parasite control as well as sanitary materials and prevention of transmission of fish diseases are the leaves of the neem plant (Azadirachta indica A. Juss). Control pests by using neem as an insecticide plant have biological profit pest control. The long-term goal of this research is to gain Tilapia are free of parasites and is safe for consumption and fish farming environment safe from chemicals so that production can be increased and produce high-quality Tilapia fish consumption. The results were obtained kinds of types The types of parasites that attack Tilapia is Dactylogyrus sp, Gyrodactilus sp, Tricodina sp, Vorticella sp, Oodinium sp, Saprolegnia sp and after soaking the neem extract was found parasites Gyrodactilus at 25 ppm, the concentration of the most effective used is 20 ppm and the prevalence of Dactylogyrus sp, Gyrodactylus sp, Vorticella sp, Oodinium sp, and Saprolegnia sp is 0-40%, while Tricodina is 10-30% and the survival rate is between 84-100%.

Abstract

Citrus is a tropical fruit that is preferred by the majority of the Indonesian people. But availability does not comply with this requirement due to the increase of population, income generation, public awareness of the importance of nutrition in addition to the development of agro-industries This is because one of them is the presence of buds induced and not induced in which to manipulate flowering citrus crop is still relatively difficult, because information limited to flowering as the flowering phase and an endogenous substance which causes the flowers induced or not induced. This study uses the citrus crop was ten years old, aims to identify phases-phase of the development of flowers and learn the changes in endogenous substances suspected to affect flowering buds flowering shoots induced or not induced. The results showed that the flowering buds induced marked by enlargement and swelling at the base of prospective new shoots, while the buds are not induced longitudinal prospective new shoots grow straight, and do not experience enlargement and swelling at the base Citrus plants flower development consists of four phases.

Abstract

This paper compares performance measures in the corporate and strategic entrepreneurial activities of firms. The paper develops the concepts of strategic entrepreneurship and that of corporate entrepreneurship with the aim of identifying the measures suitable for determining their “end-points” and hence, performance, with respect to the firm’s activities. The paper concludes the performance measures for both entrepreneurial processes need to consider and exploit the salient differences in their operations. When this is done, a “balanced” picture of the firm’s strategic as well as corporate entrepreneurial performance that aligns itself with the dynamic environment, operational processes and stakeholders and such that can enhance continuous improvement will be attainable.

Abstract

Non-Biodegradable substances produce the greenhouse gasses, methane and carbon dioxide. Growing plants and trees on top of a landfill, a process known as ‘Phyto capping’, could reduce the production and release of these gasses. In certain parts of the world, it remains the most economical and simplest method of waste disposal. Biodegradation of organic matter in a landfill site occurs most rapidly when water comes into contact with the buried waste. An important step in the drive is to remove environmentally harmful materials from waste streams and drinking water. A synthetic clay known as swelling mica has the ability to separate ions of radium, a radioactive metal, from the water. The finding could have implications for radioactive and hazardous waste disposal, particularly in the cleanup of mill tailings left over from the processing of uranium for the nation’s nuclear industry. The tailings contain radium and heavy metals.

Abstract

The women workers usually work more than 8 hours a day and are in static condition, especially in the parking lot. Such conditions give rise to (a) fatigue accumulation, (b) musculoskeletal disorders, (c) increased workload, and (d) decreased work productivity. The study used the same subject design (treatment by subject design) involving 8 workers. In this case, will be compared the average score of workload and musculoskeletal disorders between before and after treatment. The data analysis used is paired t-test with 5% significance level. Some of the findings in this study are: (1) physical work environment in the comfort category based on acclimatization of Indonesian people; (2) the attitude of the parking officer is relatively natural, since they are using an ergonomic work station in terms of the suitability between the work table and the height of the worker's elbow and the seat is already referred to the popliteal height; (3) there was a significant decrease of workload between before and after the implementation of active participatory ergonomic break of 3.41% (p <0.05); and (4) there was a significant decrease of musculoskeletal disorder 41,63% (p <0,05).
