Abstract

The company’s effort in carrying out social responsibility is often challenged by social problems including a gap between the quality of regional human resources and the company workforce. In particular, the challenge faced by Exxon Mobil is the gap between the education level of regional human resources, especially among the local youth and the educational qualifications demanded by Exxon Mobil. In responding to the communities’ demand, Exxon Mobil realizes the importance of communication to roll out CSR programs in providing information, service and business access to develop new young entrepreneurs. This study aims to analyse the way the company conducted the communication model towards the community empowerment. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results of the study showed that the participatory communication model which is conducted by the company has played important role in achieving the objectives of young entrepreneurs’ empowerment as their career choice. AbstrakUpaya perusahaan untuk menjalankan tanggung jawab sosial sering kali terkendala oleh masalah sosial berupa kesenjangan antara kualitas SDM setempat dengan tuntutan kerja perusahaan. Secara lebih spesifik, kendala yang dihadapi perusahaan Exxon Mobil adalah jauhnya kesenjangan antara tingkat pendidikan SDM masyarakat lokal terutama kalangan pemudanya setempat dengan kualifikasi pendidikan yang dituntut oleh Exxon Mobil. Untuk tetap merespons tuntutan masyarakat, Exxon Mobil menyadari pentingnya komunikasi untuk menggulirkan program CSR yang bertujuan memberikan informasi, pelayanan dan akses bisnis untuk membidani kelahiran para wirausaha muda. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis bagaimana model komunikasi yang dilakukan perusahaan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model komunikasi partisipatif yang dilakukan perusahaan memainkan peranan penting dalam mencapai tujuan pemberdayaan wirausaha muda sebagai pilihan karir mereka.

Abstract

Da’wah has become a very strategic object. Thus, the involvement of mass media playsimportant role in the activities, both printed and electronic. There are many well-knownDa’i in Indonesia that have strong influence to the communities such as K.H. Muhammad Arifin Ilham (MAI). The study aims to demonstrate the grammatical structure and lexical cohesion of MAI’s da’wah rhetoric. The data analysis consists of: (1) sorting the data based on the problem; (2) formulating the data units into each sequence in accordance with the possibility of their features; (3) interpreting the data values based on the problem; (4)evaluating the level of visibility and completeness of the data that linked to the range of problems. The structure of the grammatical ohesion of MAI’s rhetoric includes reference, substitution, ellipsis and conjunction. The manifestation of MAI’s lexical cohesion rhetoric comprises of repetition, synonym, antonym, hyponym, collocation, and equivalence. AbstrakDakwah merupakan hal yang sangat strategis. Oleh karena itu, aktivitas tersebut tidak luput dari liputan media massa, baik cetak maupun eletronik. Di antara da’i Indonesia yang sangat dikenal oleh masyarakat luas adalah K.H. Muhammad Arifin Ilham (MAI) dan K.H. Yusuf Mansur (YM). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan wujud kohesi gramatikal dan leksikal retorika dakwah MAI dan YM. Adapun langkah analisis datanya sebagai berikut: (1) pengurutan data sesuai dengan masalahnya; (2) pembentukan satuan-satuan data dalam setiap urutannya sesuai dengan kemungkinan hubungan ciri kategorinya; (3) interpretasi nilai data sesuai dengan masalahnya; (4) evaluasi tingkat kelayaan dan kelengkapan data dikaitkan dengan rentang masalahnya. Wujud kohesi gramatikal retorika dakwah MAI dan YM mencakup  referensi, substitusi, elipsis, dan konjungsi.  Wujud kohesi leksikal retorika dakwah MAI dan YM mencakup repetisi, sinonimi, antonimi, hiponimi, kolokasi,  dan  ekuivalensi.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine: (1) religious expressions, (2) religious patterns, and (3) religious values’ conservation in addressing to the challenges of modernization of an indigenous communities at Kampung (Village) Dukuh through the symbols of their lives. Due to religion as a cultural system has become a symbolic system that offers a way to perceive the world. Religion as a “mode of is for reality” provides a “framework” to see the reality, religion also provides a “system of meaning” for their followers which is socially constructed. The indigenous community of Kampung Dukuh tends to make “religion” as their “ultimate concern”. They believe that religion has become their fundamental philosophy for their lives. Most of their activities are according to the religious values. AbstrakTulisan ini bertujuan ingin mengkaji tentang: (1) Ekspresi keberagamaan, (2) Pola keberagamaan, dan (3) Konservasi nilai-nilai agama dalam menghadapi tantangan modernisasi pada masyarakat adat Kampung Dukuh melalui simbol-simbol dalam kehidupan mereka. Karena agama sebagai sistem budaya merupakan sistem simbolik yang menawarkan cara untuk mempersepsi dunia. Agama sebagai ”mode is for reality” memberikan ”framework” untuk melihat realilas, agama menyediakan ”system of meaning” bagi penganutnya yang diproduksi secara sosial. Masyarakat adat Kampung Dukuh cenderung menjadikan “agama” sebagai “the ultimate concern”. Mereka menjadikan agama sebagai filosofi mendasar dalam kehidupan mereka. Hampir seluruh aktifitas dalam kehidupan mereka didasarkan pada nilai-nilai agama.

Abstract

The long journey of ornamental activity decorates the ancestors of South Sumatra who have given birth to various kinds of ornaments which are a reflection of their culture and natural environment to get outside influences through animism and dynamism, Hinduism and Islamization. The transition of the era has a major contribution to the ornamental activities of the ancestors of South Sumatra who experienced development and change. Islamic teachings have a major influence on the function and creation of traditional house ornaments in the Al-Munawwar village of Palembang, this can be seen from the motifs used which are sourced from nature. In its realization, the motif has been stylized in shape, so that the ornaments produced differ greatly from the original form. Arab Al-Munawwar villagers use ornaments to add aesthetic value to their residential buildings. The use of these ornaments can be seen from several sides such as doors, windows, ventilation, walls, room dividers, poles and so on. Does not rule out the possibility in the form of traditional house ornaments Arab Al-Munawwar village stored messages and meanings that are interesting to explore. The study in this study focuses more on aesthetic values, with the aim of tracing the structure that builds and expresses the symbolic values implied in the traditional house ornaments of the Al-Munawwar Arabian village of Palembang. The research method used is a qualitative method, with analytic descriptive analysis. The data is then identified, classified, selected, then analyzed and interpreted according to the text and context. AbstrakMasyarakat Kampung Arab Al-Munawwar memanfaatkan ornamen untuk menambah nilai estetis dari bangunan tempat tinggal mereka. Penggunaan ornamen ini bisa dilihat dari beberapa sisi seperti pintu, jendela, ventilasi, dinding, penyekat ruangan, tiang dan lain sebagainya. Tidak menutup kemungkinan di dalam wujud ornamen rumah tradisional Kampung Arab Al-Munawwar tersimpan pesan dan makna yang manarik untuk di telusuri. Kajian dalam penelitian ini lebih menitikberatkan pada nilai estetika, dengan tujuan untuk menelusuri struktur yang membangun dan mengungkapkan nilai simbolik yang tersirat dalam ornamen rumah tradisional Kampung Arab Al-Munawwar Palembang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif, dengan analisis deskriptif analitik. Data tersebut kemudian diidentifikasikan, diklasifikasi, diseleksi, selanjutnya dianalisis dan diinterpretasikan sesuai teks dan konteksnya.

Abstract

Parenting in a family should be parents’ effort in nurturing and guiding children for both psychological and biological aspect since they were born to adulthood (18 years). It aims to develop self-control for children enhance they remain on a good and right pathway through a sets of teaching, guiding, mentoring and and self-controlling. Parenting should be understood by parents to enable them to looking after their children well. There are two significant elements of parenting style, the so-called: (1) parental responsiveness (parents’ response) and (2) parental demandingness (parents’ demand), while there are several parenting patterns in a family such as: democratic, authoritarian, and permissive pattern. AbstrakPola asuh anak dalam keluarga merupakan usaha orang tua dalam membina anak dan membimbing anak baik jiwa maupun raganya sejak lahir sampai dewasa (18 tahun). Tujuannya adalah untuk menciptakan kontrol diri pada anak agar tetap di jalan yang baik dan benar secara normal melalui serangkaian usaha pengajaran, bimbingan dan arahan serta pengontrolan diri. Pola asuh anak harus dipahami oleh orang tua agar mampu mengasuh anaknya dengan baik. Pola asuh memiliki dua elemen penting yaitu: (1) parental responsiveness (respons orang tua) dan (2) parental demandingness (tuntutan orang tua), sedangkan pola asuh anak dalam keluarga ada beberapa hal yaitu: pola demokrasi, pola otoriter, dan pola permisif.

Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate the role of female workers (laborers) at PT Mangli Djaya Raya Petung Village, Bangsalsari District, Jember Regency in fostering a prosperous family, in regard to women’s role both as a wife and mother. The background of the study was nowadays women have equal opportunities regarding their roles in a community. Following by emancipation of women, every woman could do what are commonly done by men, for instance, career. In this case, it is interesting to examine on how those career women roled in their work while they still manage in making a prosperous family. The study used qualitative approach through a case study. The data collection techniques used observation, interview and documentation. Interactive data analysis used several steps including data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusion. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran para perempuan pekerja (buruh) di PT Mangli Djaya Raya Desa Petung Kecamatan Bangsalsari Kabupaten Jember dalam membina keluarga sejahtera, baik dalam perannya sebagai istri maupun sebagai ibu. Penelitian ini dilakukan dilatarbelakangi fakta bahwa pada zaman modern saat ini, perempuan mendapatkan kesempatan yang sama dalam perannya di masyarakat. Dengan adanya emansipasi wanita, setiap perempuan dapat melakukan apa yang umum dilakukan oleh laki-laki, bekerja contohnya. Dalam hal ini menarik untuk diteliti bagaimana peran para perempuan pekerja tersebut di tengah kesibukannya bekerja, tetap dapat melakukan perannya dalam menciptakan keluarga yang sejahtera. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengunpulan data yaitu dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data secara interaktif, dengan langkah-langkah yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan

The development of democracy has been also influenced by media, in this context, media could mean the extension of people. Media include mass media, social media, and online media. The influence of media in society as a tool for participating for the general election and democracy could not be denied. The influence of media could be interfered by some parties such as politics, governments, and departments of law for justice. Those influence are not simply to demonstrate, but the implications are both explicitly and implicitly influence the communities in the way they participate in for using their right in the general election. AbstrakDemokrasi di Indonesia melangkah dan berkembang di mana tercipta dengan pemilihan umum di tingkat regional dan nasional. Perkembangan demokrasi juga dipengaruhi oleh media, di negara ini, media berarti perpanjangan manusia. Media adalah media massa, media sosial, dan media online. Pengaruh media bagi rakyat dalam arti ikut serta untuk pemilihan umum dan demokrasi tentunya memiliki pengaruh yang sangat besar. Pengaruh oleh media juga dipengaruhi oleh pihak lain seperti partai politik, pemerintah, dan departemen hukum untuk keadilan. Pengaruh itu tidak mudah untuk dijelaskan, tetapi pengaruhnya secara langsung dan tidak langsung bagi orang-orang untuk berpartisipasi menggunakan hak mereka untuk memilih yang terjadi untuk tindakan mereka.
