Abstract

This study aims to analyze the investigative skills of Junior High School students upon the use of tracker video analysis for 21th century skill. This reasearch was quasy experimental reasearch using non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The population was 8th grade of SMP Negeri 4 Depok in academic year of 2018/2019, which consists of 4 classes with a total of 127 students. The samples consist of 30 students of class VIII A and 30 students of class VIII B, which are selected using cluster sampling technique. The Class VIII A was chosen as the control class, which used powerpoint and video, whereas Class VIII B was prepared as the experiment class, which used Tracker Video Analysis. The instruments used were pretest-posttest questions and observation sheet of investigative skill. The data analysis technique used was t-test. The result of this reasearch shows that the analysis through t-test gives a significance level value of investigative skill of 0.024 (Sig. less than α). This shows that there is an infuence of investigative skill of students upon Tracker Video Analysis.

Abstract

Important writing skills need to be enhanced to help students compete in the 4.0 educational era. The aim of this study is to describe the ability to write the results of field studies in the Panjang beach TWA area. Data collection techniques used are rubrics. The research instrument used was the rubric sheet assessing scientific reports. The results of this study indicate aspects of writing skills, namely score 3 category for the aspects of title, method, results, conclusions, bibliography, while score 2 with category of sufficient is obtianed for the aspects of introduction and discussion. The average score in the ability of students to write reports is 3 with a category of good via utilizing the field of study activities. Empowering writing skills can be done by innovating learning using outdoor learning.

Abstract

This study aims to produce (1) an instrument of assessment of learning outcomes for entrepreneurship-based science and (2) a questionnaire of student entrepreneurial interest. This study is a research and development (RnD) with reference to the modified Borg and Gall. The research period was from August 2019 to November 2019 at SMP Negeri 3 Pemalang involving a total of 307 students. The content validation index by experts with V'Aiken for the test instrument for learning outcomes based on entrepreneurship and student questionnaire interest in entrepreneurship are 0.91 and 0.87, respectively. The results show that at the trial stage based on the MNSQ mean INFIT of 1.00 criteria and the standard deviation of 0.00, it is evident that both the tests and questionnaires are both fit with the PCM 1 PL model. Based on the lowest and highest thresholds of INFIT MNSQ, i.e.: 0.77 to 1.30, the instrument of the science-based learning entrepreneurship and questionnaire interest in student entrepreneurship produce 16 and 8 valid items with reliabilities of 0.89 and 0.85, respectively. So it can be concluded that the developed instrument has a high validity and reliability index, so it is ready to be used by science teachers of SMP or MTs for assessment.

Abstract

Textbooks are one of the learning resources that are widely used by students and teachers. Analyzing the contents of a textbooks is a way that can be done to assess the quality of the book. This research aims to determine the content of the revised K-13 science textbook grade VII SMP/MTs which is appropriate for integrated disaster risk reduction learning in schools. The emphasized disaster is a disaster that often occur in Indonesian. This research used document analysis method. Data were collected based on a systematic review of documents and supporting evidence in the form of research on disaster risk reduction in science learning in SMP / MTs. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis based on research focus. This research was conducted by analyzing two books from the government and non-government. The result of research shows that there are 19.05% sub material in the science books from the government and 17.2% of non-government that integrated disaster risk reduction. From the result, it can be seen that the content in grade VII SMP / MTs science textbooks on disaster risk reduction is still lack, so it is necessary to add content related to disaster mitigation to the science book grade VII SMP / MTs.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the differences in students’ critical thinking skill between class which use discovery learning and conventional learning in electromagnetic wave material. The research method used was a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design which was conducted in MAS 01 Darussalam Kepahiang. In non-equivalent control group design, the sample (was) not taken randomly but by purposive sampling technique. The research sample taken by the researcher consists of two classes,  (i.e.) the class XII A2 as an experimental class and the class XII A3 as a control class. Both classes were given a pretest to find out the students’ fundamental critical thinking skills and a posttest to find out the students' final critical thinking skills. This research was conducted in two meetings according to subchapters on electromagnetic wave material. Discovery learning model was applied in the experimental class with the steps of learning are stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization. The average value of critical thinking of the experimental class student was 65.7 and (the) control class was 48.12 with a value of sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 less than sig. α = 0.05. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in students’ ' critical thinking skills using the discovery learning model with the critical thinking skills of students using conventional learning.
