Abstract

This paper discuss Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) which is incorporated with computer vision techniques in recognition of vehicles for typical fast growth cities in development countries. Two algorithm are combined i.e. Harris and Edge Prewitt to increase accuration of vehicles’ detection. Verification is conducted using Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Histograms of Oriented Gradiens (HOG) as its descriptor. Six pieces of experimental videos from a wide variety of road conditions are used for processing. It shows that  percentage average for sensitivity is 75.73%, specificity 90.1% precision 56.0% and with accuration of 77.73%.

Abstract

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is basically a computer that contains a specific control functions of different types and levels of complexity, are used to automate the control system on the machines or processes. PLC can be programmed, controlled, and in opersikan even by one who is not so proficient in the operation of the computer. The characters are controlled by the PLC process itself is a process which is a gradual process, i.e. it goes sort to achieve final conditions expected. In this final task, one phase generator and simulation of PLC used to automatically start generator single phase designed and simulated, includes ways to the needs of the PLC programming control, and the creation of the program in the form of a ladder diagram the module is then transferred to the PLC to run commands correspond to settings that have already been designed. The system works automatically when the supply of electricity from the State electricity company cut off, then the PLC gets a signal to run the genset. If this is the case then the system will automatically start the active time starter set on the program, until the burden of getting the supply of electricity.

Abstract

Lost foam casting is one of the casting method using expanded polystyrene (EPS) as an ingredient for the manufacture of patterns and planted in silica sand. When the molten metal is inserted into the mold, the EPS will melt and evaporate so that the place will be filled by a liquid metal. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of layer thickness on expanded polystyrene patterns against the accuracy of the size of the nodular cast iron 450 DISCS by using the method of lost foam casting. EPS patterns being used has a thickness 3-24 mm. Material used is upholstery material rekraktori Zircon (ZrO2) and Colloidal Silica binding materials (O2Si). The thickness of the coating material is applied to the EPS pattern i.e. 0-1300 microns. EPS patterns grown in silica sand is then compacted by means of vibration. Metal alloys smelted 450 DISCS in crucible furnace and poured into a mold at a temperature of about 1350-1450 oC oC. The average accuracy of the size for each of the thick layer of the pattern 0 (without coating), 200, 500 and 1300 Micron in a row is-0.05, 0.07 0.04,-, and-0.13. A thick layer of 200 Micron provides the best measure of the accuracy of the values of the three variations of the thickness of the layer pattern. A thick layer of 0 (without coating), 500 and 1300 Micron will result in decreased accuracy measure. Patterns that are not coated will give bad impact towards the results of castings.

Abstract

A simulation of microstrip antenna design for Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) application has been done on standard 802.11a 5.8 GHz frequency. Simulation design using High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS) v.13. Microstrip antenna is widely used because it is simpler and easier to integrate with other devices. In this research, the rectangular microstrip structure with the irradiation element (patch) is made up of three rectangular parts with a total dimension of 60x35 mm from the perfect electric conductor material. The ground plane is placed at the bottom of the antenna structure with a total dimension of 65x40 mm with the same material as PEC (perfect electric conductor) patch. The feeding technique used is the center probe conductor which is placed in the middle of the irradiation element (patch) with the diameter of 1.5 mm and the height of 1.6 mm from the copper material. Dielectric of FR-4 Epoxy material with relative permitivity 4.4 constants. The design success parameter is evaluated from Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) and Reflection Coefficient (S11). Simulation results show that the antenna can work on the 5.66 GHz frequency band to 5.91 GHz with bandwidth of 250 MHz. at a frequency of 5.8 GHz obtained the value of VSWR 1.14 with the reflection coefficient value S11 -23.19 dB. The electric field distribution (E-field) and the magnetic field (H-field) are the same in all directions in the radiation plane. HPBW is obtained with angle width 520. It is concluded that the designed microstrip antenna can be used on 802.11a standard Fidelity (Wi-Fi) frequency at 5.8 GHz frequency.

Abstract

This research aims to design and implement a cheap, low power and reliable wireless sensor and actuator system which can be used in the PLC based SCADA system to overcome the limitations of wire media. The wireless sensor and actuator system can also be used as an alternative to reduce the amount of the used PLC within SCADA system. Usually, in a PLC based SCADA system, sensor and actuator are connected to PLC with wire. It has many limitations especially in terms of flexibility and resistance to interference noise, In the PLC based SCADA system with wire media also causes the number of the installed PLC will increase at each location that will be monitored or controlled. This is not efficient if the location has only a few sensors or actuators that are connected to PLC because it will have an impact on the greater costs due to expensive price of the PLC. In this research already designed a wireless sensor and actuator system based on WPAN technology (IEEE 802.15.4) is cheap, low power and  reliable. The results  reveal  that the wireless  sensor and  actuator system is able to send data with good accuracy and also able to operate well when implemented to PLC based SCADA system with open loop control  and  closed  loop  control  to  control  the  water  level  in  the  tub filtration. From the results, it can be concluded that the wireless sensor and actuator system can be used in the PLC based SCADA system to overcome the limitations of wire media and can also be used as an alternative to reduce the amount of the used PLC within SCADA system.
