Abstract

Transportation cost analysis appears in a number of design in various fields such as network supplies, communications networks, and variety of other fields which have the principle of transferring the object from one place to another place. This transportation cost analysis can be used as indicators or benchmarks to measure whether the usual method of delivery of goods made by certain parties were optimal or not. Application of the method of transportation cost analysis in this study is to combine several tools or methods of solving the transportation problem, which consists of the methods of the North West Corner (NWC), Stepping Stone (SS), Vogel Approximation Method (VAM). From the results of the comparison between the usual calculation of the cost paid by the company (First In First Out) with a method of solving transportation problems, will be selected that contributed the largest savings as a final result. Keywords: North West Corner, Stepping Stone, Vogel Approximation Method

Abstract

The problem of stress is sometimes unconsciously influence the way a worker thinks. Job stress can have a positive or negative impact for a worker. If excessive stress it will have negative and if the stress is still within normal limits, then the stress can trigger the motivation of workers. In this research, it will be discussed will be the relationship between stress and worker motivation whether significant or not, and will also be discussed about the influence of both stress factors related to the organization or not. Stress factors associated with organizations that are determined in this research are the workload and work environment. Stress factors that are not related to the organization is the type of personality and family. The workload is too heavy will make workers become frustrated and lose motivation of workers. Vice versa if the workload is too light then the worker will experience a saturation that is also not motivated to work. This research will also be discussed further factor which affects the motivation of workers. Research suggests that stress variables have a significant relationship with motivation variables. This is done with regression testing and also correlation with several methods. Figures generated R square is for 0.504 which means the 50.4% contribution in terms of stress variables affecting motivation variable while 49.6% influenced other factors. The research results are obtained also found that internal stress factors or office stress factors related to the organization over affect the motivation of workers rather than stress factors unrelated to the organization. It also found that more office internal stress factors play a role in influencing workers' job stress. In addition, correlation of test results found places correlation between workload and working environment with the motivation was for 0.708 and for the type of personality and family is at 0.485 so that internal stress factors play a role in affecting the office worker motivation.

Abstract

Rietveld analysis is a means of revealing the detailed structure and composition of crystalline sample using x-ray powder diffraction data. This research presents the use of the Rietveld method using Rietica program to obtain the phase abundance of crystoballite crystal from rice husk sintered at 850oC, 950oC and 1100oC that has previously been demonstrated. The model parameters are refined by the methodof least squares until a good fit (2) to the observed data is obtained. The refined parameters in this study are background, scale factor, space groups, atom co-ordinates (U,V,W), preferred orientation, and the lattice parameters. The results showed that quantitative crystoballite crystal were 87.8, 89.8 and 98.4% weight, respectively. An acceptable result for estimation of lattice parameters and weightpercentage of crystoballite with reliability (2) was found to be < 4. The results also show that analysis by Rietveld method is efficient to control the quantity of crystoballite in the sintering process. Keywords: Rietveld, Rice Husk, X-Ray Diffraction

Abstract

5S method as lean concept foundation is an effective tool to achieve improvement effort in organizations. Organizations which do not have working area standard yet according to 5S method have the chance doing the improvement, as the design suggested to the publishing and bookstore chain company. The research was done in three working areas processing product ordering documents by consumers. Data collection was done by field observation and interviews to related staff. Data collected includes process flow in the three working areas, actual physical working area condition, and activity time as modeling base with ProModel 2001. Based on review related to methods, machines, environment, materials and man aspects, the three working areas need an improvement based on 5S method. The company does not have similar standards yet, so kinds of waste happen at times at the working areas. Gudang working area improvement was done based on waste identification, process flow, activity time, and current actual physical condition. At departemen administrasi, the improvement was done based on waste identification, actual physical condition, and the area necessity. At departemen keuangan, improvement was done based on waste identification, actual physical condition, and the area necessity. At the three working areas the 5S was designed from seiri (proper arrangement), seiton (orderliness), seiso (cleanliness), seiketsu (standardize), and shitsuke (discipline) activities each. Gudang working area modeling was done with the basis on activity time data to test improvement design effect according to 5S method. Modeling was based on actual condition and three alternatives.Working area improvement design with 5S method was designed as suggestions at the three working areas in the company. Success factor in the implementation is viewed based on the whole staff’s commitment, with the consideration on any obstacles, such as workers’ resistance to the 5S method suggested. Therefore, in this research workers’ psychology aspects could be taken into consideration for further details. Modeling results indicated the alternative to eliminate a certain single activity without any staff added yielded the optimum result and could be taken into consideration for the company to implement.Keywords: 5S, Lean, Waste

Abstract

Problems that often happen is the charge that would like included in the container exceeds or is far less than the maximum volume of container space. In the case of the process of door to door or door to port, overloaded force clients should reduce the number of items that must be sent in order to fit with container capacity. While less than the maximum load that makes a lot of wasted container space volume that causes the client to fill it with stuff that does not exist in the delivery plan or let it remain fully charged with the costs of ineffective. The purpose of this field study is to maximize the use of volume of space in the container with the method of hill-climbing algorithm and utilize software programs created with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. Processing the data shows that during the delivery of goods, the utilization rate of container volume ranges from 44.185% to 72.630%. By using optimization calculation based on hill-climbing algorithm in the program made, the utilization rate of container volume can be optimized from the original 66.563% to 91.895% with an increase of 25.332%.Keywords: Supply Chain, Hill-Climbing Algorithm, Optimization

Abstract

Contractors’ cost estimation has a very important effect in every company’s performance which will be needed in fulfilling every customer’s needs. Nevertheless, in order to minimize the inaccuracy between the estimated cost and actual performance, it will be better to accommodate the economic condition in terms of estimating. In all the developing countries such as in Indonesia, the economic condition is most likely to be unstable thus it will be influence to the accuracy of estimation. The purpose of this research is to find all the indicator economic variables which had been influenced so the project is able to be optimized. The result shows that money currency has a strong impact. In order to comprehend this information, data needs to be collected from central bank, newspapers, the expert, and also the estimator themselves. Keywords: Estimasi Biaya, Proyek Konstruksi, Pengaruh Indikator Ekonomi
