Rausyan Fikr: Jurnal Studi Ilmu Ushuluddin, dan Filsafat is an academic peer-reviewed journal that publishes the current articles and result of research of the scholars and student who are deeply concerned with theology and philosophy issues. Abstract

This article aims to reveal the Islamic philosophy legacies in Fez City, Morocco, and analyze the values ​​relevant to Indonesian people’s lives. Fez is one of the centers for the development of Islamic philosophy in the golden age of Islamic civilization. Fez is located in the modern state of Morocco, Fez is the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco. Fez has historical dynamics until it developed into the modern city today, but Islamic philosophy colors the city's history. This article is the result of research by the author on the visit to the city from October to mid-November 2019. This research is an observation and literature study. Data analysis used historical and phenomenological approaches. The results of this study indicate that the legacies of Islamic philosophy could be found in the Fez in tangible and intangible forms. The tangible legacies are the Al-Karaouine University Architectural Building, and works of Islamic philosophers who have intersected with Fez, including Ibn Khaldun, Averroes, Avempace, and Moses Maimonides. The intangible legacies are the education system, a spirit of freedom of thinking, and tolerance. These legacies could be an alternative reference for the Indonesian Muslim society to develop behavior in daily life with tolerance, freedom of thinking, and an education system.

Abstract

This article elucidates the crucial significance of cross-cultural communication in the context of religious diversity. Religious diversity is an established reality that can be attributed to the genesis of each religious tradition in a multicultural milieu. Inadequate handling of the diverse array of global religions may give rise to potential issues of instability and disharmony among heterogeneous religious communities. This article examines plausible behavioral trends that may be employed to foster amity and collective unity among religious groups that possess inherent diversity. The present article utilizes Luc Reychler's indicator formula as a novel methodology for addressing issues. As mentioned earlier, the indicators encompass a diverse range of components deemed essential for promoting peaceful outcomes. The variables mentioned above include but are not limited to, efficient communication methods, a robust conflict resolution mechanism, a conducive environment for integration (also known as bridging social capital), a sufficient number of leaders who prioritize peace, and unbiased frameworks.

Abstract

One of the Takhrij Hadith activists who are phenomenal this century is Muhammad Nashiruddin al-Albani. However, the re-correction of the history with the narrative of the jarh that seemed impolite and against sanad, which was believed to be the ulama, was established and became the point of controversy for other hadith practitioners. There are many Muhadditsin figures who marked al-Albani regarding fiddling with Sanad again. One of them is a Moroccan hadith practitioner, Abdullah al-Ghumariy who is also known for his sauce. At first glance, the ideology and theology of al-Ghumariy and al-Albaniy, are clearly different. al-Ghumariy with his daughter and Tarekat is inversely proportional to al-Albani, a role model of Salafiy, who is aggressively voicing the error and bid'ah of Sufism. In his criticism of al-Albani, especially in Rasâ'il al-Ghumâriyyah, al-Ghumariy can be said to be more focused on the presentation of Sanad criticism carried out by al-Albaniy and there is no editor related to criticism of al-Albaniy's ideology and theology. The focus of the discussion of this paper is how a cross-opinion form correcting the hadith wrapped in ideological and theological differences between al-Albaniy and Abdullah al-Ghumariy. The method used is the comparative explanation (syarh muqaran) with a character study approach.

Abstract

This paper discusses the study of Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation by using a philosophical-contextual approach. Departing from the two major camps in understanding the Qur'an, namely the textualist and contextualist camps, this paper is present to discuss how Abdullah Saeed's views, methodology, and application of contextual interpretation. Abdullah Saeed's thinking on the idea of the contextual approach that he offers is the result of the influence of his predecessor, Fazlur Rahman with his double movement idea. In the contextual approach offered by Saeed, he offers the idea of a hierarchy of values as a development and refinement of the idea of moral ideals brought by Fazlur Rahman. The conclusion obtained in this paper is that QS. al-Ahzab/33: 59 has an implementational value, this value changes in its meaning. So, the contextual reading of the concept of covering the aurat (nakedness) by extending the hijab to the chest is not something absolute and definite, in the sense that the need to be stretched out to cover the chest in practice will vary depending on the surrounding context.

Abstract

This study is concerned with the current environmental crisis (deforestation, pollution, global warming, water pollution, plastic waste, and soil degradation). These phenomena occur as a result of the wrong perspective and relationship between humans and nature. Nature is often seen as merely existing as an instrument to fulfill human interests. This study aims to understand the relationship between humans and nature to deal with the environmental crisis that is occurring. The methodology used in this study is qualitative with a phenomenological approach because nature cannot be separated from human life, as a place to form experiences in daily life. Data were collected by reading literature related to the environmental crisis, and the data were analyzed with the theory of metaphysical philosophy. This study found that efforts to deal with the environmental crisis can begin with a good understanding of what nature is and its relationship with humans and God. It is concluded that nature is a harmony that must be preserved and cared for. In addition, in line with what Aristotle said, nature as reality exists to the extent that it exists and is not based on human ideas. The implication of environmental conservation is to build awareness that nature is an important part of human survival, which has value in itself, therefore humans should care for and preserve the harmony of nature.

Abstract

Jürgen Habermas’s Theory of Communicative Action is important to respond to modernity, rationality, and capitalism. This theory departs from the refinement of the Critical Theory stagnation promoted by the Frankfurt School's first generation with the characters Max Horkheimer, Theodor Adorno, and Herbert Marcuse. Therefore, this study aims to describe the efforts that have been made by Habermas, both to find the cause of the stagnation of the Critical Theory and to improve it. This research is qualitative research with a literature background so data collection is done by reading the works of Habermas and other related works. Data analysis of the collected data was carried out using historical and interpretation methods. This study found that the Critical Theory proposed by Horkheimer, Adorno, and Marcuse stagnated because they interpreted rationality as instrumental rationality. Meanwhile, Habermas’s refinement of Critical Theory led to the formation of the Critical Theory in a modified form, namely the Theory of Communicative Action. In this case, Habermas’ Theory of Communicative Action provides a solution in the form of additional elements of communication for the Critical Theory and sees rationality as communicative rationality that allows interaction between subjects in social life.

Abstract

This article is a reading of the primary literature in the study of the Qur’an in looking at the stories narrated by Qur’an. Likewise, this paper describes how Orientalists interpret the stories of the Qur’an. The purpose of this academic work is to see the methods and approaches of the two scholarships above in interpreting the stories of the Qur’an. In the early literature of Qur’anic studies, it is found that the stories of the Qur’an are not discussed in a special section, but are included in a chapter of tikrar al-Qur’an, Makki wa Madani, or Tanzil al-Qur’an. It differs from the later books on The 'Ulumul Qur’an, which put the discussion of the stories of the Qur’an in separate chapters. However, it is important to emphasize that al-Zarkasyi and al-Suyuti who represent classical scholars have realized the importance of seeing the interlocutors of the stories of the Qur’an and the message conveyed to the first recipients. Meanwhile, western scholarship will find methodological transformation in approaching the stories of the Qur’an along with academic problems regarding the source and truth of the Qur’an.
