Abstract

The research aimed to improve the quality problem from the previous plant that contributed to the Rate of Quality (RQ) and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) value in Cylinder Block Machining (CBM). The research was done in one of an automotive company in Indonesia. It had been applying Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) with Kaizen spirit to make continuous improvement even though this company had reached a world-class level on the Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) standard. To express the needs and wants of the current machining plant and improve quality problems from the previous process in the casting plant, the researchers used Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. From the result, it is known that shrinkage defect at a casting product becomes the priority of the kaizen team to achieve next process customer satisfaction in a machining plant to increase the RQ and OEE value. By implementing improvement based on the highest value of Technical Priorities (TP) from House of Quality (HOQ), it can increase RQ value in CBM from 96,4% in December 2018 to 97,9% in February 2019. Then, OEE value increases from 92% to 93% within two months.

Abstract

The research aimed to study the effect of groin application to erosion at the shoreline. The method utilized the bathymetry and topography data of north beach of Balongan, West Java. Modeling of the shoreline change due to groin installment used software called GENESIS. Based on analysis result, it is found that the significant wave direction comes from the southeast with significant wave height of 1,18 meters and surf zone width of 140 meters. It is concluded that at research area of north beach of west Java, I-groin with length of 70 meters and T head groin of 60 meters in long T-groin effectively overcome erosion and advance the coastline by 10786,62 m2 orin av erage 6,3 meters.

Abstract

The research discussed the design of vendor selection features using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, inventory control using Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method, and order notification using Reorder Point (ROP) method. The research aimed to find out the most appropriate time for procurement of goods, selection of vendors that fit the predetermined criteria and determine the number of items that had to be ordered within a period of time. Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) method was used in building the system design. The sample of the research was a telecommunications service provider company. The result shows that by applying these three methods, the problems are overcome.

Abstract

One of the things that are considered important for the car is the seat. Car seats could be able to give effect to the driver to be more comfortable. As in the research paper carried out in the car seat industry that is with two objectives defined, first to ensure that the right design of new products is based on customer needs with the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach and the second is to improve competitiveness based on renewal marketing strategies and customer needs such as longevity, no wrinkles, not easy to get dirty, no flat pillows, and competitive prices. Customer satisfaction ratings are used in this study to compare with competitors. Based on calculations using the QFD method, this shows that the seat option has the highest percentage of technical requirements in the car seat industry around 27.39%. The second factor is material about 25.94%, and then the third factor is the characteristic attenuation of about 19.17%. Therefore, for continuous quality improvement purposes in the future, still, a lot of customer needs regarding the seat car need to be developed, so further discussion is needed for the future researcher with a suggestion to use another method such asĀ  Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), Analytical Network Process (ANP) or Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to combine with Quality Function Development (QFD).

Abstract

The research aimed to develop a web-based application using the certainty factor. The use of this certainty factor method allowed processing the data based on the degree of confidence from the experts and the users. The users inputted their symptoms each with the level of confidence. The inference engine drew some conclusions based on the matching process between the input and the rules in the knowledge-based. For every matching pair, the system will calculate the certainty factor. The knowledge-based was developed through discussion with three specialist physicians and literature in some previous studies. The evaluation of the system involved three specialists for validation testing and 51 respondents for BlackBox testing. The final result is displayed in the form of a percentage for each hepatitis type, explanation of first aid for hepatitis, and referral hospital for hepatitis patients. The result shows that the error rate in the diagnosis process is under 36%. Most of the respondents think that the quality of the system is good overall.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to enhance the selection for the process plant equipment supplier based on their country of origin in the gold mining project using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The research also intended to investigate how AHP could further enhance the process of the project. The steps for modeling the AHP were identifying the hierarchy by the project team, constructing the AHP model, and calculating the weight for supplier selection. The research object was a gold mining company based in Indonesia. The schedule and resources were calculated, followed by a survey to evaluate the AHP process. After modeling and calculating using AHP, it is found that the three highest criteria for selecting the process plant equipment suppliers are running capacity (14,3 %), efficiency (9,9%), and endurance (9,7%). The overall scores for each supplier show that supplier from United States (25,87%) is in the first rank. It is followed by Germany (25,80%) and Australia (25,20%). Moreover, AHP is proven to enhance the process by not only reducing the time of decision-making for two days but also increasing the resource by almost 23%. Based on the survey to the project team, AHP increases the involvement of the project team in the decision-making process and shows that more than 80% of the project team agrees with the decision. The survey also reveals that almost 63% of the project team decides to use the same tools for the decision-making process.
