Abstract

The stimulant activity of central nerve systems of areca seed (Areca cathecu, L.), at white mouse ( Mus musculus, L ) had been done by using method hanging test, evasi test, swim test and discrimination maze. Drug dose given is 0.5 mg/20 gram BW white mouse, 1 mg/20 gram BW white mouse, 2 mg/ 20 gram BW white mouse in oral mechanism. As negative control is applied by Tween 80 2% and condensation of comparator is applied by Caffeine.Activity test result from seed extract Pinang ( Areca cathecu, L. ) to white mouse ( Mus musculus, L. ) the obtained result signifikan ( P < 0.01 ) as stimulant central nerve systems.

Abstract

Daun sambung nyawa (Gynura rocumbens (Lour.) Merr.) adalah tumbuhan yang banyak digunakan masyarakat sebagai pengobatan tradisional. Daun sambung nyawa mengandung beberapa senyawa kimia diantaranya alkaloid, saponin, tanin, dan flavonoid. Flavonoid merupakan senyawa aktif berkhasiat sebagai Antiinflamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antiinflamasi ekstrak etanol daun sambung nyawa dan pengaruh terhadap jumlah sel leukosit pada tikus putih jantan yang diinduksi karagen 1 %, serta mengetahui dosis ekstrak yang paling efektif terhadap penurunan volume edema kaki tikus dan pengaruh terhadap jumlah sel leukosit pada tikus putih jantan. Hewan percobaan dibagi sebanyak 5 kelompok yaitu kelompok negatif diberi Na-CMC 0,5 %, kelompok positif diberi karagen 1 %, kelompok uji diberi ekstrak daun sambung nyawa 75 mg/kgBB, 150 mg/kgBB, dan 300 mg/kgBB. Volume edema kaki tikus putih jantan diukur setiap jam selama 6 jam menggunakan alat Pletismometer dan jumlah sel leukosit diukur pada jam pertama dan ke enam menggunakan alat Haemacytometers. Data yang diperoleh dianalisa dengan uji ANOVA satu arah yang dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan dengan taraf kepercayaan 95 %. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa daun sambung nyawa dapat menurunkan volume edema kaki tikus putih jantan dan berpengaruh pada jumlah sel leukosit pada jam ke enam yang di induksi karagen 1 % dengan daya antiinflamasi ekstrak daun sambung nyawa diperoleh persen inhibisi 75 mg/kgBB sebesar 23,32 %, 150 mg/kgBB sebesar 60,65 %, dan 300 mg/kgBB sebesar 11,09 %. Pada hasil rata-rata jumlah sel leukosit jam pertama ekstrak sambung nyawa diperoleh 75 mg/kgBB sebanyak 12.900 sel/mm3, 150 mg/kgBB sebanyak 11.400 sel/mm3, 300 mg/kgBB sebanyak 15.900 sel/mm3 dan pada jam ke enam diperoleh 75 mg/kgBB 14.117 sel/mm3, 150 mg/kgBB sebanyak 10.100 sel/mm3, dan 300 mg/kgBB sebanyak 15.567 sel/mm3.

Abstract

The research about the anti-inflammatory effect of ethanol extract of kirinyuh (Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M. King & H. Rob )that gave topically with granuloma pouch method. Inflammation was induced by carrageen 2 % in thesesame oil gave in subcutaneous. Extract administered topically in cream which was given on graded concentrate: 2,5 %; 5 % and 10 % for 4 days. Diameter of inflammation, volume of edema, and amount of leukocytes cell in the mice white male were being the parameter of this research. The parameter which was obtained at the end of the research was showed that the ethanol extract of kirinyuh(Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M. King & H. Rob ) in graded concentrate 2,5 %; 5 % and 10 % can suppress the increase of parameter. They were significant difference between increasing doses of ethanol extract of kirinyuh(Chromolaena odorata (L) R.M. King & H. Rob ) with graded dose to diameter of inflammation, volume of edema, and amount of leucocytes cell in the blood significantly (p<0.05).

Abstract

Characterization of the liquid extract of marine sponge (Axinella carteri Dendy) has been carried out by using the physical, chemical and physicochemical methods. The physical character of the extract was yellowish brown liquid, smells fishy and bitter taste, with a specific gravity of 0.9644 ± 0.02576. The marine sponge contained alkaloids, steroids and terpenoids, with total alkaloid content of 0.9433% ± 0.136133%. In physicochemical analysis, residu on drying was 7.156% ± 0.2944%, ash content 2.5576% ± 0.2668%, acid insoluble ash 0.014% ± 0.0035%, concentration of substances dissolved in water 5.6153% ± 0.2759%, concentration of substances dissolved in ethanol was 6.4263% ± 0.4622%, levels of a substance extracted from each fraction was 0.9066% ± 0.0666% in hexane fraction, 0.1866% ± 0.03045% in chloroform fraction, 0.0616% ± 0.04297% in ethyl acetate fraction and 6.449% ± 0.07642% in water fraction. Profile of thin layer chromatography (TLC) showed the existence five stain with value Rf  0.1; 0.16; 0.3; 0.44 and 0.56.

Abstract

Wound healing is a normal process as responds by the skin tissue injury. This research is purposed to see the effects of ethanol extract in binahong leaf to  healing the wound of male white rats. There are rats which are divided into five treatment groups, group I (negative control), group II is given providone iodine 10% (positive control), group III, IV and V are given the extract of binahong leaf ointment consist of 5%, 10%, 15% for each. By making a wound on the back of the rats about 20 mm long and 2 mm deep. The ointment is applied based on the treatment for each group twice a day during ten days, the lenght count every day by using caliper. The data is analyzed by using two ways ANOVA and continued by Duncan Test. The result showed that ethanol extract in binahong leaf can heal the wound in scale concentration about 10%-15%, length of wound was decrease on seventh day. The more extract concentration given, the more effect in wound healing

Abstract

The effect of binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Stennisleaves extract ethanol on pH and gastric ulcers in female rats were induced by 1 ml/200 gram body weight by oral admistration. The parameter taken to asses antiulcer activity were change of gastric acid pH and ulcer index to normal condition. The result indicated that the binahong leaves extract at doses of 30 mg, 100 mg and 300 mg/Kg BB body weight significantly decreased the ulcer index with curative ratio were 38.62 %, 52.41 % and 57.01 % (for one daily of extracts for two days), 60.84 %, 78.74 % and 82.32 % (for one daily of extracts for four days) and 79.91 %, 93.86 % and 95.98 % (for one daily of extracts for two days) with respect to control group. The extracts at 30 mg, 10 mg and 300 mg/Kg BB body weigth also significanthy decreased the gastric acid pH to its normal value (P<0.05).

Abstract

Microencapsulation of metronidazole using HPMC as a polymer by solvent evaporation method had been studied. Microcapsulhad been made into3formulation with 3 ratio variation between Metronidazole and HPMC, 1:1; 1:1.5; 1:2. Microcapsules were analyzed by SEM, DTA, FT-IR, particle sized distribution and dissolution profile. Microcapsules were white to slightly yellow and almost perfectly spherical.Disolution profiles of microcapsules showed that the greater amount of HPMC gave the slower release ofMetronidazole. Dissolution kinetics of microcapsule allowedHiguchi equation, where the realese of Metronidazole  from microcapsules were controlled by diffution process.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun sembung (Blumea balsamifera (L.) DC.)  terhadap kadar glukosa darah dan gambaran histopatologi pankreas. Hewan dibagi atas 5 kelompok yang terdiri dari kontrol negatif, kontrol positif, kelompok dosis 50 mg/kg BB, 100 mg/kg BB, 200 mg/kg BB.Hewan diinduksi aloksan dengan dosis 200 mg/kg BB secara intraperitoneal.Ekstrak diberikan selama 7 hari secara oral. Hasil penelitian yang dianalisis dengan ANOVA satu arah menunjukkan penurunan pada kadar glukosa darah secara signifikan (P<0,05) dan gambaran histopatologi memperlihatkan adanya perbaikan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak etanol daun sembung (Blumea balsamifera (L.) DC.) dengan dosis 200 mg/kg BB dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dan memperbaiki gambaran pankreas yang telah rusak dengan lebih bagus dibandingkan dengan dosis yang lain.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of repeat frying and duration of storage to rancidity coconut oil used thiobarbituric acid (TBA) method. The sample used were coconut oil with three different brands namely coconut oil A, B, dan C. The highest TBA number of samples coconut oil A, B, dan C was after three frying and 2 days of storage, TBA number was 0.879, 0.694, and 1.336 mg malonaldehyde/Kg sample. Based on data, can conclude samples coconut oil A, B dan C has under gone rancidity, but still below the maximum limit set by Badan Standarisasi Nasional (1991) was 3 mg malonaldehyde/Kg sample. The quality coconut oil A, B, dan C still below the maximum limit set by Badan Standarisasi Nasional (2013) such as acid number was 0.6 mg KOH/g, peroxide number was 2 meq/kg, saponification number was 196-206, iod number was 45-46, and free fatty acid was 0.3 %.

Abstract

The research about the effect of microwave drying methods on content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity of Gynura pseudochina,(Lour.) Merr. have been done. The determination of phenolic compounds was carried out according to Folin-Ciocalteu method and antioxidant activity was evaluated by DPPH method, calculated as gallic acid equivalent (GAE). The research showed that the highest phenolic compounds and the strongest antioxidant activity obtained by microwave drying method compared by air drying method. The phenolic compounds each gram sample by using microwave drying is 1.673 mg phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities were calculated as the IC50 at concentration 2.876 mg/mL.
