Abstract

The arts and entertainment industry is one of the industries that have been heavily impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, many musicians lost their stages and musical works that could not be promoted optimally, especially with the implementation of social distancing protocols and large-scale social restrictions. In this "new normal" era, musician Grace Sahertian invites her listeners to participate in making the music video for "Honestunes." The main videos, video footage, and videos posted by netizens will be packaged with a touch of illustrations and attractive graphics using motion graphics techniques, giving the impression of being fun, playful, and lighthearted. It is hoped that this virtual collaboration can be an alternative to video work for music promotion in the midst of a pandemic. Additionally, this video clip can also be used as a reference for musicians and the public to adapt to the digital world.

Abstract

Fauna motifs hold social and cultural significance as symbolism in their application to cultural artifacts. Fauna decorative motifs applied to fashionable scarves and hijabs have religious limitations, as depicting fauna images is strictly prohibited and considered a form of associating partners with Allah SWT in the Islamic religion. One of the fauna motifs explored in this research is the representation of imaginary living creatures. The topic addressed in this study is the analysis of fauna motif designs using a visual adaptation strategy approach, with a focus on aesthetic elements in the printed fauna motifs of the Alzena Kids Moslem brand's fashionable hijabs. The fauna motif that serves as the brand's identity within the broader context of Muslim fashion is the Unicorn image. The Unicorn, also known as Qilin in Chinese history, is an adaptation of a horse-like creature with unique features, including a horn. This research aims to understand the reasons behind brands incorporating depictions of living creatures in the visual adaptation of fauna motif designs on printed scarf hijabs. The research methodology employed is qualitative descriptive research with a visual adaptation approach. The study examines the aesthetic elements through the theory of visual adaptation strategies as parameters for analyzing the research objects. The analysis of objects is conducted by collecting hijab products with fauna motif designs obtained from observations at the Indonesia Hijab Festival 2022 exhibition. This research is conducted to map out the designs and adaptation strategies of printed fashionable hijabs featuring fauna motifs from the Alzena Kids Moslem brand.

Abstract

Ekselsa coffee (Coffea liberica var. dewevrei) is taxonomically classified in the same category as Liberika coffee and other Liberoid species. The ekselsa coffee production in the Ngrayudan area, Jogorogo, Ngawi Regency, East Java produces two tons of ekselsa coffee as their superior products, with 40% coffee husk waste in one year. The coffee husk waste is currently used only as an animal feed.  If not utilized properly, the waste can potentially pollute the surrounding environment. Therefore, this study aims to explore the potential of ekselsa coffee husk waste to be used as natural dyes for textiles as an alternative solution in utilizing coffee husk waste which has added value. Exploration of natural dyes was applied to natural fiber textiles, namely hemp fiber (Boehmeria nivea) because hemp fiber has a high absorption capacity. In addition, hemp fiber has properties similar to cotton fiber, so hemp cloth can be used as an alternative to cotton cloth in the future. The research method was a qualitative method, namely literature studies, observations and interviews on coffee processing in Ngawi Regency, as well as exploration of coffee husk waste as a natural dye in textiles. The exploration was carried out by extracting natural dyes from the waste of ekselsa coffee husks and conducting experiments with four types of mordant and four methods of mordanting on hemp fiber. The types of mordant used were alum, vinegar, quicklime and tunjung, and the mordanting methods used were pre mordanting, simultaneous mordanting, post mordanting and pre post mordanting methods. From the exploration results, it can be concluded that ekselsa husk waste can produce color variations with shades of brown, cream and gray depend on the mordant on hemp fiber. In addition to providing color variations, the use of mordant can also increase the level of color fastness in textiles.

Abstract

Sound is one of the important elements in forming the impression and experience of space. In the context of the library as a social space, the sounds that come from the various activities of space users then enrich the library's acoustic environment. This study aims to evaluate the effect of subjective perception of audial soundscape on the formation of a sense of place in public libraries using a descriptive quantitative qualitative method through observation, recording, and distributing questionnaires using an accidental sampling method. The Public Collection Room and Co-working Space at the Bandung City Archive and Library Services (Disarpus Bandung) were chosen as research objects considering the character of the space and the context of the library. The results of data analysis show that sound objects in the natural sound category are preferred by respondents and have a positive correlation with sense of place in both spaces of Public Collection Room and Lobby. Some sound objects from the category of human activity such as conversations and footsteps have a positive correlation, while chair squeaks and children's voices have a negative correlation. There are differences in preferences for several sound objects that follow the function of the room, such as the sound of keyboard/mouse typing is preferred in the Lobby, while the sound of turning book pages is preferred in the Public Collection Room. Layout and openings also affect exposure to traffic noise, which is significantly negatively correlated in the Lobby, but not in the General Collection Room. The character of the soundscape in the Bandung Disarpus Library as a social space creates positive associations between users and places through comfort, conductivity, and social interaction. These factors are created through the soundscape as well as forming a sense of place following the function of space.
