Abstract

In improving the integrity of an institute or company, needed human resources who satisfy and qualified to be able to advance and develop the institute or company, including the library. Human resources have to give a service excellence to library’s visitors to meet the needs of library’s visitors. But until now still there are librarian who not understand yet the implementation of service excellence in library, so that needed a human resource library development that held by an institute. On of the libraries that implement human resource development is Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta’s or UMY Library. UMY Library always endeavor to develop the ability of librarian and library staff to be able to advance the UMY Library to be excellent collage library. The study aim to explain the strategy of human resources library development to implement service excellence at UMY Library. This research use qualitative approach and data collect technic use interview and observation. The result of this research shows that the strategy of human resource that implement at UMY Library are further study of formal education and non formal education, training, rotation, and participation in the activities of librarianship such as scientific meeting, seminar, workshop, the competition of librarian, and call for paper.

Abstract

Student's low interest in reading raises concerns for libraries. With such circumstances it is appropriate if the library STMIK AKAKOM give more attention so that the business arise to increase interest in reading. This study aims to determine the efforts that have been done STMIK AKAKOM library in improving students' reading interest. In addition, this study also aims to determine the inhibiting factors that affect reading interest of students. This research can be categorized as case study. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that the library has made efforts in increasing the interest of reading students, among others, providing a representative means of infrastructure, providing a collection tailored to the needs of pemustaka, providing services beraryintasi on pemustaka satisfaction, held a library promotion, collaborate with others, improve the quality of resources Human, and provide regular funds for library management. The results of this study also show that there are five inhibiting factors that influence reading interest of students is the perception that still consider the library only as a book storage, the perception when dealing with the library is a difficult thing, the comparison of the number of collections with the number of students not in accordance with the standards Applicable, not fully supported by all parties, lack of library socialization through user education activities and information literacy activities that should be held regularly and continuously.

Abstract

The focus of this study is the competence of a librarian as a fresh graduate of Library Science, who has to manage a special library on his/her own. The purpose of this study is to identify the required competencies for graduates Library Science when they have to be a solo librarian in the special library. This research is a qualitative research using ethnography approach. The ethnographic approach is used to get the actual data that shows what is happening in the field. The result of this study indicates that the competencies which need to be developed as librarians in managing the library are the ability to build a database, develop information services, use the internet and intranet, and understand the needs of users. In conclusion, a solo librarian in a special library has competencies that adapt to user’s needs. The authors propose to improve the competence with the material, ask, and attend training in order to increase network and knowledge of librarianship.

Abstract

Klitih is a violence that be done by teenager in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. The player is teenager and as a student in a school. Klitih is not just a teenage naughtiness but a crime, so that it makes mass anxious. Klitih becomes a challenge for DIY government in realizing vision of 2030 to be a student and tourism city. This research is purposed to: (1) giving solution to prevent students from klitih by reading culture approach, (2) building character by reading culture to students of DIY. The method of the research is by Case Study. Collecting data by observation with the hope to get information about Klitih. Based on research, it is gotten data that in 2016 there were 43 cases , with dead-victim more than one. The effort to prevent Klitih involves many parties, either local government, school, parents and police. One of the ways to prevent Klitih is by reading culture approach to students . Reading culture can be used to make students character. Student character is signed by rising of responsibility of moral-value and obeying the norm. Futhermore, the research can be done to get more complete data so that Klitih will be able to be handled better.

Abstract

This study discusses the needs analysis of guidance to librarians who are in institutions or non-governmental institutions. The guidance includes the recruitment pattern, the main task (work system), professional development, career path and performance appraisal and payroll. The formulation of the problem in this research is how the model of guidance to librarians in non-governmental institutions. This research uses mixed method. Research with mixed methods is a pragmatic paradigmatic research. Librarian conditions in non-governmental institutions, employment levels and career librarians are not clear and have not been established yet. This case have been found in every librarian of non-governmental institutions. 48.4% of librarians in non-governmental institutions have not had the opportunity to attend education and training, 26.3% have not earned decent salary and earned a raise. Based on this matter, the guidance of librarians in non-governmental institutions should be set forth in a regulation that contains at least about career patterns, educational and training opportunities and provincial minimum wage. The laws that are going to set have to consider the condition of librarian in non-govermental institution.

Abstract

Every citizen is entitled to education is not the exception of persons with disabilities (disfabel). The existence of inclusive schools is a form of government attention to realize education for difabel.Perpustakaan as one of the important means for education should come to realize the library-based inclusion, the library is not only serve for non-disabled pemustaka but also for disabled pemustaka.Namun up to now there are many libraries capable and ready in providing services to disabled users, both in terms of infrastructure and human resources. This will undoubtedly hinder the learning process of people with disabilities who have limitations. For that library needs to provide facilities for infrastructure that facilitate difable pemustaka in utilizing library services especially facilities and infrastructure information technology.In addition, librarians are also required to have special competence both softskill and hardskill to serve difabel pemustaka so that disabled users feel the convenience and ease in utilizing the service library.

Abstract

Professor is one of UI's group of users who get special services. This service is called EDS (E-resources Delivery Services) aimed at helping professors meet literacy needs. Librarians download and post specific articles related to the subject of specialization of the professors. During 2016, the response of professors served by EDS is quite encouraging. This study aims to examine how the fulfillment of literature needs of professors in UI and the competence of librarians expected by the professor. The method used is quantitative and qualitative. EDS 2016 performance data is used to analyze EDS productivity. Interview and analysis of professors' responses via e-mail are used to analyze the competence of librarians. The results of the analysis indicate that the professor hopes that UI Library has reference librarian that serves as a competent subject specialist and article submission through continuous EDS as well as relevant to the research topic. Librarians should utilize contacts with assistant professors as they have data and information about the research being conducted. The referral service needs to have a competent team as a reference librarian. Referral librarians should have a wide network with various universities outside UI, especially institutions that have resources that are not owned by UI. The UI library needs to initiate a pattern of cooperation that allows librarians to be involved in the research teams of professors, as literature providers, and to rearrange the delivery schedule of articles by referral librarians, adjusted for the time required for the literature.

Abstract

Inaccordance with nawacita, to which jokowi-jk's synergy refer to, the library ini Indonesia need to do so. Need to do so and support the program.The development of many countries are always indicated by the ability to respond the change with its new need, challenge, and treatment. This ability developed because there are libraries in educational institution. This libraries recognize and transform and share the knowledge, technology, and so do good literacy. University library should be as basic and center of intellectual, literacy, and knowledge. It is needed to strengthen the library univetsity as the infrastructure of three basic service of the university to develop the reputation of the university and ITS achievement.The university representatif library can be as the center of development of the country include Indonesia.
