Abstract

The purpose of this survey is to examine the role of  cognitive stage toward his or her attaiment of  mathematical creative thinking (MCT) and habits of mind (HoM) grounded on student’s cognitive stage. The survey concerned  with 36 eleventh grade students of 16.25 years old, test of logical thinking (TOLT), an essay MCT test, and a MSC scale. Data analysis covered: calculation of item scoring of HoM scale; percentage enumeration, Mann-Whitney testing for mean difference,  of association between two variables, and other rational analysis relevant to the findings. By using TOLT, the survey found that 44% students’ were still  at concrete operational stage, few students 19% at transition operational stage, and 36% students had reached at formal operational stage; in entirely,  students’ MCT was at low grade level and students’ HoM was at fairly good grade level. Even if, according to cognitive stage, formal students, transition students, and concrete students  survey detected  successively at medium, low and very low grade level.  In line with that findings,  formal students realized few difficulties, transition students experienced some more difficulties and concrete students realized difficulties in all items of MCT tasks.  In the contrary, either in entirely or according to cognitive stage there were no different grade of MSC among them, and those grades were at fairly good level. The other findings there was high associtaion between cognitive stage and MCT, but no association between cognitive stage and MSC and between MSC and HoM.

Abstract

This research is a research through a scientific approach by using problem solving to improve the understanding of mathematical abilities of vocational students. This research is a quasi-experimental form the which aims to test the achievement and improvement of students' understanding of mathematical skills through a scientific approach, using problem solving rather than learning that only uses a scientific approach. And examine the implementation of learning steps through a scientific approach, using problem solving. The population in this study were all students of class X Vocational School in Bandung Regency, while the sample was class X students from one of the Vocational Schools roomates were determined purposively and were randomly selected from the existing class X. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that the achievement and improvement of the understanding of mathematical abilities of Vocational students who learning Obtained through the scientific approach, using problem solving was better than Reviews those who Obtained using the scientific approach learning only. And the implementation of learning through a scientific approach, using problem solving is Carried out in accordance with the planned learning steps

Abstract

Various efforts to develop education which related to quality of education were overall implemented by the government to enhance quality of education. The implementation of compatible method was an effort to improve learning achievement and accomplish learning goals. Peer tutoring is a group of students who have completed learning material then provide assistance for others who got difficulty in understanding the material. From the research result were obtained, (1) Sig. 0,011 = Ho was rejected means there was difference in students learning result in mathematic lesson by using peer tutoring method compare with conventional learning method; (2) Sig. 0,002 = Ho was rejected means there was difference in problem solving communication skill in mathematic lesson by using peer tutoring method compare with conventional learning method; (3) Sig. 0,043 = Ho was rejected means there was difference in problem solving comprehension skill in mathematic lesson by using peer tutoring method compare with conventional learning method. From the data, it can be concluded that students learning result using peer tutoring method was more effective. It was because, this method demanded students to be more active in learning process either individual or overall.

Abstract

The present research aims to analyze the correlation between mathematics Self regulated learning and mathematical-logical thinking skills. The design of the research is survey correlation analysis as it is suitable to validate the relation of the two quantitative variables. To retrieve the data, 60 seventh grade students of two classrooms were sampled through cluster random sampling in SMP PGRI Pameungpeuk. The instruments employed to gather the intended data were logical-mathematical intelligence test consisting of 4 questions and  self regulated learning scale consisting of 25 questions. Further, the data were analyzed in a quantitative manner modeled to logical-mathematical thinking skills data and self regulated learning scale using SPSS 20. The analysis revealed that students’ mathematical Self regulated learning significantly affects students’ logical-mathematical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to see the influence of super-learning models on student achievement. This research is rarely done because of the lack of literature. In learning mathematics, it should not be direct to complex or complex concepts, but it must start from a simple concept. The aim to be achieved in this study is to determine whether or not the influence of super-learning learning models on quadrilateral learning on improving student learning achievement. The population in this study were Pangkalan 2 junior high school students. Samples were taken using makeshift sample techniques where the entire population was sampled; one class was made into the experimental class namely class VII A; and one class was made into the control class namely class VII B. The method in this study was experimental method. There contained research on students of SMPN 2 Pangkalan Karawang regency class VII with quadrilateral. The instruments in this study were Student Worksheets and achievement tests given at the initial test and final test. Based on the results of the analysis and testing of hypotheses, it was concluded that the use of Superitem learning models had a positive effect on improving student learning achievement, and there were differences in the increase in learning achievement between students who had mathematical learning using super-learning models with students who used mathematics learning conventional learning.
