Abstract

This research was a pre test-post test experimental control group design having a goal to analyze  the role of Inductive-Deductive Approach (IDA) on improving  students’ mathematical creative thinking  ability (MCTA) and self efficacy  (MSE). Subjects of this research were  70  eleventh grade students from two classes selected purposively in a Senior High School in Garut. Instruments of this research were a MCTA test, and a MSE scale. The research found that the role of IDA was greater than the role of scientific approach (SA) on improving  students’ MCTA and MSE. Students getting treatment with IDA approach obtained  MCTA and MSE at good grades qualification. While students taught by SA attained MCTA and MSE at low-moderate grades level.  Apart of those findings, the research found that students getting treatment with IDA encountered a litle bit difficulty  in solving MCTA tasks. In contrast students taught by SA experienced in allmost items of MCTA tasks.  In addition, the research also found there was no assocition between MCTA and MSE and students performed good and active learning during IDA lessons.Keyword: mathematical creative thinking,  mathematical self efficacy, model eliciting activities (IDA)

Abstract

This study is a quasi-experimental study that aims to compare the mathematical communication skills between students who get the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model and the Group Investigation (GI) Learning Model, examine their quality improvement and examine students' attitudes towards Think Talk Write (TTW) learning models. ) and Group Investigation (GI) Learning Models. The population in this study were all students of class VIII 1 of Leuwigoong Junior High School, with a sample of two classes, namely: class VIII-E as the experimental first class  who received the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model and class VIII-H as the experimental second class  that obtained the Model Group Investigation (GI) Learning. The instrument used was a description of mathematical communication skills and attitude scale. The results of data analysis showed that the mathematical communication skills of students who got the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model were no better than those who received the Group Investigation (GI) Learning Model. Quality Improvement of mathematical ability of experimental first class  students who get the Think Talk Write (TTW) learning model with the moderate category and for the improvement of mathematical communication skills of the experimental second class  students who receive the Group Invertigation (GI) learning model with the moderate category, and for student attitudes towards mathematics learning using Think Talk Write (TTW) and Invertigation learning models (GI) both interpret well. Keywords: Mathematical communication skills, Think Talk Write (TTW) models, Group Invertigation (GI) models.

Abstract

This development research was motivated by the information that the student's average score on the material for solving calculation problems, including those related to money, was still below the KKM (70). One of the reasons is that the teacher does not use the media to teach the material. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to develop media in accordance with the material. The data collection instrument in this study is a checklist sheet with observation and test techniques. The data analysis technique used is quantitative and descriptive qualitative data analysis. The development model for developing monopoly media refers to a development model with the ADDIE approach which includes 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The conclusion of the results of this study is that the monopoly game media is declared valid after being revised by material experts and media experts with a score of 75% which belongs to the B criteria with the Good category The effectiveness of the media in increasing the ability to solve calculation problems, including those related to money, by using the development of monopoly games for grade III students of SDN 4 Cakranegara, Mataram

Abstract

This study aims to examine the improvement of mathematical connection skills and creative thinking as well as students' self confidence. This is in line with the problems in this study, namely the low ability of mathematical connections and the ability to think creatively as well as the self-confidence of SMK students. This quasi-experimental study took a population of all students of SMK Negeri 1 Campaka, Cianjur Regency, with a sample of class XI, the class was given a pretest and posttest for mathematical connection skills and students' creative thinking abilities. The results of the quantitative data analysis research using the SPSS.19 for windows application program, show that based on the learning model and the cognitive stage, the level of achievement and increased mathematical connection skills and mathematical creative thinking of students who use the method of methaporical thinking is better than students who use conventional learning.

Abstract

The low critical thinking skills and self-regulated learning in the field are the backgrounds for this research. This study aims to examine the improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills and self- regulated learning using the IMPROVE method and by using ordinary learning. The research method used was an experimental method with a pretest-posttest group research design involving two groups and randomized class sampling. The population is all high school students in Purwakarta Regency. All high schools in Purwakarta were randomly selected, SMAN 1 Maniis was selected, the sample was randomly selected by two classes, class XI Mia 2 as the control class and class XI Mia 1 as the experimental class. Data collection in this study was in the form of tests and non-tests, then the data on the scores of students' mathematical critical thinking skills and learning independence were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using the two-difference test means. Based on the results of the study, both from the results of data analysis and hypothesis testing, the authors conclude that the achievement and improvement of mathematical critical thinking skills and self- regulated learning students whose learning using the IMPROVE method are better than those using ordinary learning.
