Abstract

Research on historical thought of reformed tradition was started by Alexander Schweizer who proposed a method for reading history, namely centraldogmen. During its development, this method was received by a group of historians known as the Barthian tradition. In this tradition, the development of thoughts on reformed tradition is considered to have been discontinued after John Calvin. These views surround the post-Calvinian theologian of the reformation tradition. Recent research tries to propose another method for reading history, namely by considering its continuity and discontinuity. With this new method, I intend to look at the history of reformed tradition in the case of the relationship between faith and reason. This paper will discuss thoughts on the relationship between faith and reason from 3 different periods, that is medieval period, reformation period, and orthodoxy period. From my analysis, I conclude that in the case of the relationship between faith and reason, there is a continuity of thought from medieval period to orthodoxy period. With this conclusion, the position of the Barthian tradition on reformed thinking needs to be re-evaluated.

Abstract

The role of the teacher as a guide is expected in leading students in the class, not only in aspects of knowledge but also in all aspects of education. The role of a teacher as a guide must be to guide a student to understand and to do the will of the Lord in his or her life. Teachers must be able to guide students to experience the changes and growth that meet the educational purposes. The teacher's role as a guide in performing his or her role requires a student's response in learning. However, the fact is that in learning there are students who participate less actively in the classroom and hinder the learning process. This paper aims to analyze the role of Christian teachers as guides in building students' active participation in the classroom through literature review. One strategy to offer is through the application of the learning method or media. It can be concluded that the teacher's role as a guide is essential in showing love, leading the students to Christ and encouraging the students’ active participation the goal of learning. The writer's advice for the next researcher is to make direct and thorough research possible so that the teacher can perform his/her role as a guide.

Abstract

Suami dari satu isteri merupakan salah satu persyaratan yang ditetapkan oleh Paulus bagi seorang penilik jemaat. Namun demikian, terdapat berbagai macam interpretasi atas perkataan Paulus yang tertulis didalam 1 Timotius 3:2a. Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk menggali lebih dalam apa yang Paulus maksudkan ketika ia menetapkan persyaratan tersebut dan bagaimana relevansinya terhadap kepemimpinan Kristen. Bagi Paulus, seorang pemimpin Kristen haruslah seseorang yang memiliki kredibilitas yang baik, yaitu sebagai suami yang setia kepada istrinya dalam pernikahan monogami. Hal ini sebagai perwujudan dari kesetiaannya kepada Allah sendiri. Dengan memiliki kualifikasi tersebut, seorang pemimpin Kristen dapat menjadi teladan yang baik bagi jemaatnya.

Abstract

Kemiskinan merupakan masalah sosial yang selalu ada dalam fakta dan realitas kehidupan manusia di muka bumi. Gereja memiliki tanggung jawab untuk mengambil peran dalam penanggulangan dan pengentasan masalah kemiskinan. Melalui eksistensinya yang meliputi Sumber Daya Manusia, Jemaat Lokal, Koperasi, Infrastruktur atau sarana dan prasarana, serta potensi keuangannya, Gereja Kemah Injil Indonesia Daerah Kota Samarinda memberikan perhatian, kepedulian dalam mengupayakan untuk berkontribusi dalam penanggulangan kemiskinan di kota Samarinda. Tulisan ini bersifat penelitian literatur dengan mengkaji konteks dan relevansinya di kota Samarinda. Dengan analisis tekstual, tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam merefleksikan berbagai macam realitas yang berkaitan dengan kemiskinan, terutama dengan pendekatan partisipatif dalam menuangkan metode dan gagasan dalam upaya menanggulangi masalah sosial tersebut, penulis sampai pada kesimpulan bahwa kemiskinan adalah masalah sosial yang sangat kompleks yang tidak dapat digeneralisasi. GKII daerah kota Samarinda sudah seharusnya menjalankan pelayanan Misi holistik yaitu pelayanan rohani dan jasmani karena Allah menciptakan manusia dan dunianya secara utuh untuk ditata dan dikelola secara utuh. Gereja perlu mengambil langkah vital dan strategis melaksanakan perannya secara efektif dalam menanggulangi ketimpangan kesejahteraan dengan cara berkontribusi untuk membentuk kualitas pekerjaan masyarakat, memberdayakan kekayaan gereja untuk pembangunan ekonomi kerakyatan, serta mengaktualisasikan nilai-nilai alkitabiah untuk mentranformasi mentalitas masyarakat. Keywords: Kemiskinan, Penanggulangan, Pemberdayaan, Transformasi, Kesejahteraan

Abstract

Teachers and students are fallen image of God. Student inactivity affects the learning process in the classroom. Whereas students who are active in the classroom can increase the success of the learning process and student achievement. A Christian teacher should be using a worldview based on the Christian education philosophy in seeing problems that occur in the classroom and how to solve them. Researcher conducted a study for 5 weeks in grade 9 at a school in Jember. The researcher found that the 9th graders were less active during the Biblical studies learning process. Researcher uses the socratic method of teaching as a solution to deal with the problems. The purpose of this study is to describe does socratic method of teaching can affect student activity. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The result of the study indicates that the socratic method of teaching can increase student activity during the learning process. This is verified by fulfilment of five indicators of instruments measurement used by researcher. Suggestions for future research is that the questions given to students must be varied.
