Abstract

This paper aims to explaining how was the behavior of music videos in China and online video platforms during the outbreak of COVID-19, which is related to the situation of COVID-19, were taken as the research object. Firstly, the data were collected and proceeded, then the time distribution, the types of the author, geographical distribution, theme, the types of music were gathered for data statistics. Secondly, this study analyzed the characteristics of the production and spread of these music videos, which were displayed visually. This research is library research. The author conducted in-depth studies related to various literacies that explain the objects and subjects of this study. Finally, this paper systematically analyzed the effect and influence of social literature and art in a public event.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe the content of tobacco company websites and social media then evaluates whether they have complied with the regulation or not. As addictive product cigarette has become one of the most regulated product in the world, including in Indonesia. While almost all countries in the world have a total ban on tobacco advertising, promotion, and sponsorship (TAPS) in all media; Indonesia only limits TAPS, not totally bans it. The methods in this research are observing five websites from the five biggest tobacco companies in Indonesia and their social media, between May-June 2019, focusing on outlook; content; updating frequency; and link to other media. The result shows that the tobacco industry’s websites and social media are a form of indirect tobacco advertising. The five sites practicing brand stretching strategy. The sites and social media are targeting young people by focusing their content on activity, product, lifestyle, and profile of upper and middle-class young people with their typical language. By doing so, the companies normalize their brand into young people’s life. The conclusion of the research shows tobacco industry promotion strategy through new media seems to outsmart the TAPS regulation, whereas, in practice, this promotion is conducting several violations on existing regulation in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper aims to see the implementation of freedom of speech principles in Indonesian press regulation, because as we have known, this regulation was made in very short period during political change in Indonesia. This change influences the Press Law too. The change in the Press Law which has further facilitated freedom of speech, it turns out to have a big impact on numerous parties, especially journalists and owners of mass media business entities. In this study, the researcher used critical paradigm to see effect of this law and problems those might be came because of the implementation. This study found that the implementation, freedom of speech regulated in the 1999 Press Law often turns out to intersect with the freedom of others so that it needs to be evaluated, reviewed, and revised.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the role of teachers in increasing their interest in learning, especially in relation to empathy communication patterns that are run. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and literacy studies. The Indonesian government has guaranteed equal rights to the fulfillment of education for all Indonesian citizens including children with special needs. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, until 2017 the number of children with special needs in Indonesia reaches 1.6 million. From this data, it is seen the need for maximum efforts to achieve the goals of inclusive education and the fulfillment of the right to education for children with special needs in Indonesia. In fact, on the ground it appears that the practice of inclusive education for several years is inseparable from various obstacles and problems. The results of this study indicate that empathy communication is effective in increasing the learning interest of students with special needs. The teachers use various strategies in the learning process to increase their interest in learning.

Abstract

City branding is believed to be a way to promote the city. Some of the cities in the world have strong branding because they are made following the identity of the city. The research problems in this research are what visual elements were included in the Palembang city logo; this paper aims to identify the cultural aspect of each component contained in the Palembang city logo by using the theory of logo. This research was using a case study analysis and descriptive qualitative research. Based on the review of the logo and tagline from the Palembang city logo, in conclusion, Palembang city branding has already completed the elements of a good logo such as Persuasive, Harmonious, Supporting a local culture,  Must be supporting local Culture. The real situation of the city was designed in original Distinctive. There are several cultural influences represented by the logo. Chinese and Japanese cultural influences have an essential role in the logo of the city branding Palembang.

Abstract

Pandemic COVID-19 is a new epidemic that is sweeping the world with a high level of fatal potential. The role of communication is vital as a response to global health disasters. Thus, the communication network and information dissemination process about COVID-19 need to be expanded as a disaster mitigation effort. The question is how information dissemination can be done, whereas, on the other hand, a person is prohibited from crowding and having physical meetings. Based on this question, this research was conducted to obtain a crisis communication model and what strategies are used in communicating it. This study aims to find a COVID-19 impact crisis communication model using the local wisdom of Gending Jawa in Ngandong Village.  Gending Jawa is Javanese traditional music, also known as Karawitan. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with a simulation with the leaders and members of the Jati Art Studio, community leaders/religious leaders, and village officials. The results of this study are in the form of the discovery of a COVID-19 impact crisis communication model using the local wisdom of Gending Jawa. The contribution of this research is the COVID-19 crisis communication, model whose results can be used or applied to other communities.
