Abstract

ABSTRACK One of some methods to conserve the peat forest species is increasing the local peoples income. In order that the research regarding financial and economic analyzis of forest community at the peat forest is significant needed. The aim of this research was to know the benefit of forest community project that be developed at the Jabiren Raya, Pulang Pisau District, Central Kalimantan Province. The research was done using interview agree with list of questioner and literature study. Research result showed that cultivation of Dyre lowii and Hevea brasiliensis are profitable with NPV and BCR namely IDR 67.5 mill and 1.36, 31.4 mill and 1.19, and 5.5 mill and 1.04 per ha at the bank rate of 13%, 15%, and 17% respectively. Profitable of IRR namely 18% bigger than social bank rate. Keynotes: Dyre lowii, Financial, forest community, Hevea brasiliensis

Abstract

ABSTRACT Forest role as climate stabilizer may be realized due to its ability to control world climate change caused by the rising concentrations of greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of greenhouse gas with very rapid increase in its concentration. An effort has been taken to suppress the increase in CO2 is by controlling the concentration of carbon through advancement of carbon absorption program, where organic carbon as a result of photosynthesis will be stored in the biomass of forest stands or woody trees. Acacia (Acacia mangium Wild.) is one of fast growing species and is often used as a staple crop in forest plantation (HTI). The purpose of this study is to determine the potential of carbon stock by diameter class, predict carbon stocks and aerial CO2 absorption by Acacia trees in forest plantation area of PT Korintiga Hutani, Lamandau District, Central Kalimantan Province. The study was carried out in PT Korintiga Hutani plantation forest and took Acacia stands aged years as its object. Biomass measurement of Acacia stands was done indirectly using allometric formula proposed, whereas biomass of under the plant, woody and litter necromass was allegedly using the direct method. Carbon of Acacia stands, woody necromass, undergrowth and litter were determined using the formula, where 46% of biomass is carbon content. Lastly, the amount of carbon dioxide absorbed by Acacia stands was predicted using the formula. The results show that the average carbon stock by diameter class of Acacia stands aged 10 years are 109.66 tons/ha, respectively. Carbon stocks of undergrowth, woody necromasa and litter on the location of Acacia stands aged 10 years are 1.42 tons/ha, 0.15 tons/ha and 3.00 tons/ha, respectively. Total carbon stocks on the location of Acacia stands aged 10 years are 114.23 tons/ha. In the meantime, CO2 absorbability of Acacia stands aged 10 years amounted to 402.46 tons/ha with the rate of CO2 uptake increased by 40.25 tones/ha/year, respectively. Keywords: Acacia stands, carbon stock, forest plantation, carbon dioxide.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Production forest management in Indonesia was developed using a pattern of forest concession since 70’s. Based on regulation of Ministry of Forestry No.11/2009, the silvicultural systems that be applied at the site were Indonesian Selective Cutting and Planting (TPTI), Selective Cutting and Strips Planting (TPTJ), Gap Cutting (Tebang Rumpang), and Clear Cutting with Artificial Regeneration (THPB). In connection with that, there are activities of timber, cruising 2-5% in the working areas of PT. Pratama Putra Katingan to obtain details about the condition of standing stock at the forest. They are conducted every 10 years. The observation results of commercial standing stock for diameter ? 20 cm namely 45.20 stems/ha and volume of 19.65 m3/ha, meanwhile the total standing stock of forest namely 72.70 stems/ha and volume of 40.75 m3/ha. Keywords: Commercial species forest concenssion, standing stock

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aimed to identify the driving factors and obstacles as well as analyzing strategic options might be taken by Lamandae, Central Kalimantan Province in order to manage Sanggilipan waterfall at the site. The research was carried out at Sanggilipan waterfall in Jojabo Hulu Village, Delang sub-District, Lamandau District. The research was conducted using SWOT as its analytical tool, and based on the fact that Sanggilipan waterfall has plenty of natural potential but has not been optimally utilized, this research proposes SO (Strength and Opportunity) as alternative strategy for its further development. Therefore, the development of Sanggilipan waterfall should consider the Strength and utilize the opportunities it has. Keywords: Strategic options, Sanggilipan waterfall, SWOT analysis

Abstract

ABSTRACT The propagation of tree plus Dyera lowii can be anticipated by micropropagation via somatic embryogenesis. The study was aimed: 1). to determine the composition of growth regulators for induction of somatic embryos from leaf explant, 2). To study of the structure and development of somatic embryo D. lowii. The first leaf of seedling was utilized as sources of explants. The base leaf explant growth roots directly on MS (Murashige & Skoog) medium with 2 mg/l Kinetin + 7.5 mg/l IBA, but indirectly via callus phase at IBA 5 mg/l. The middle leaf explant produced somatic embryo resulting yellowish-white and compact texture on MS medium with 0.2 mg/l Benzyl Adenin + 0.5 mg/l IBA. Embryogenic callus cells have formed proembryonic stage: 2-cells, 4-cells, round, globular and heart phase. Keywords: Micropropagation, explant, somatic embryo, pro-embryo, suspensor

Abstract

ABSTRACT Forest concession of PT Kayon Timber Company II is one of some forest concessionaries in Central Kalimantan Province that must be rehabilitated. This research was aimed to analyze the financial feasibility of Indonesian Strips Cutting and Planting (TJTI) and Clear Cutting with Artificial Regeneration (THPB) silvicultural systems in order that to rehabilitate the site. The observation results of commercial standing stock for diameter ? 20 cm namely 36.7 stems/ha and volume of 21.2 m3/ha, meanwhile the total standing stock of forest namely 67.8 stems/ha and volume of 35.36 m3/ha. Applying the TJTI and THPB silvicultural systems are suitable at the interest rate of 18%. Profitable of IRR namely 18% bigger than social bank rate.
